    I made two Beer Totes out of Pallet Wood for my brother's 40th birthday. This video is on building one of them.
    (the second one is here: • Pallet Wood Beer Tote #2 )
    I built both totes at the same time and finished them at 3 am the very morning I was supposed to drive off to him. Phew.
    Please note that I'm a complete newbie and don't know anything about...anything.

    This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

      Cladding? I'm not an expert in the terminilogy in English, but to me, that would be the exterior? Considering the video though and the condition of my garage.. On the inside I put a layer of OSB for screw support and ontop of that a layer of drywall to dampen sounds and add some fire-protection (sparks from grinding / spatter from welding). The OSB probably isn't necessary, though

    I started to make one with 6 bottles like you did....half way through the build I ended up with 6 empties and a brad nail through my little finger.... 😀
    Cheers!

    snyggt! Skulle du rekommendera planhyveln du äger? har funderat på den länge men är "märkesbög" och det lutar alltid åt det dyra och säkra alternativet! :)

    • @JWAM
      @JWAM  8 років тому

      Tackar, gode man! De där två Beer totes:en är ungefär det jag har använt den till hittills, och har ingen annan att jämföra med. Köpte den för att tidigare köpare verkar ha varit nöjda (till skillnad från den där kombinerade rikt- och planhyveln). Verkar göra sitt jobb. "Cotech" är väl inte det första jag skulle välja vad gäller verktyg. :) Men jag har börjat försöka se igenom märkesgrejen och köpa sånt som ger mest för pengarna. Köp cotech sladdlösa limpistol med. Kostar inget och kör smältlim till någonting som faktiskt går att använda.

    Beautiful, beautiful work, Sir! I love it! You still don't have that shop set up? Get to work over there!
    Where you working by moonlight in some parts or were the dark scenes just your camera choosing bad auto settings?

    • @JWAM
      @JWAM  8 років тому

      Thanks friend! Nope, been a bit lazy with the shop. It's very annoying putting insulation and sheeting on the walls when there's so much crap along the walls that have no place to go. But yes, it's about time to get back to it!
      The lighting.. Pretty much moonlight considering the hours and location..There's only a single "construction site 'floodlight'" which is stuck where it is (beside the table saw). If I disconnect it, it's pitch black in there and making it hard to move... Bandsaw is on the other side of the garage.

    Beautiful design, and i really like the bottleopener on the side.
    But it looks funny with the handle on the handle. Any particular reason for that ?

    • @JWAM
      @JWAM  8 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Yes, all totes that I've seen have been very high,which seem to be both a bit hard to store, and maybe even block the view across the table. The wood part is not supposed to be a handle, it's so low that it's at the height of the necks of the bottles so tou can't get tour fingers under it. It works as a support beam to hold the sides together and be something to attach the handle to.
      My original idea was to have the beam even lower, and then have an "ingenious" handle that you could fish out from the beam so that the handle would never be in the way when the thing wasn't carried.
      Anyway, I couldn't think of the right material/design for it for the little time I had.
      The current design still looks quite compact for as far as totes go. And weird if you'd look at the beam as an handle. :D

    the add on handle realy spoils this tote, why did you go that way and aswell i can see when you grab it by that you likely will catch your fingers on the bottle caps maybe cutting your fingers, it was fine without it. simple rustic, why try and tart it up to a piece of ikea. my mind is baffled ???????

    • @JWAM
      @JWAM  6 років тому +1

      victormeldroo Hi! First, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. :)
      The reason is that I wanted to make a tote that had a lower profile than the usual tote that people build (see my "beer tote #2" to see what I mean). So that it can be on a table without obstructing the view to your fellow drinker.
      If I remember correctly, my original plan was to have somekind of a rope-based handle (with some faux-leather wrapped around it) that went through that "bar". so when you let go, the handle would drop down onto the bar. I had both very little time to finish it and too afraid to go the handle route as I have never done such work, nor had I really done any woodworking at that point.
      That being said, I quite like the handle and the form factor of it. It sure is "different" and apparently provokes feelings in both ways. That's the way I like it. Bland is too bland for my taste :)

      Se on kai vain semmoista ruotsalaisenglantia. :) Pitäisi kyllä katsella jos jostainpäin voisi saada vähän rahaa takaisin tähän hupihommaan jotta vaimokin tämän ajan jotenkin hyväksyisi. :)

    • @Lazywatchsmith
      @Lazywatchsmith 8 років тому

      Tuleehan sitä rahaa kun saat lisää tilaajia. Niin ja muistat kaupallistaa videot sekä aktivoida sen adsense-tilin.
      Mutta sitä englantia sinun kannattaisi mielestäni puhua kaikissa videoissa. Samalla saat hieman lyhennettyä videoita. Ihmiset kun keskimäärin jaksavat katsella noin 3 minuuttia.
      Jään odottelemaan seuraavaa tuotostasi.

    • @JWAM
      @JWAM  8 років тому

      Jep, kaupallistettu on. $0.57 tienattu! Lähden tässä huomenna kauppaan ostamaan ruuvin. :)
      Tiedän että nämä videot ovat aivan liian pitkiä.. Olen ainakin nyt saanut enemmän vauhtia niihin että kiinnostus pysyisi vähän paremmin. Pitää vaan uskaltaa heittää osa pois.
      Tuosta puhumisesta en oikein tiedä.. En sitä (omaa siis) edes itse viitsi kuunnella. Sen verran Kimiräikkösmäisen eloton homma se on..

    • @Lazywatchsmith
      @Lazywatchsmith 8 років тому

      JWAM
      Haha. Oli siinä ensimmäisessä olut-telinevideossa ainakin eloa. Kyllä niin hyvää englantia puhut että edelleen suosittelen jatkamaan sillä linjalla.
      Minäkin puhuisin jos olisin rohkeampi.

    • @JWAM
      @JWAM  8 років тому

      Lazy watchsmith Jos se rohkeudesta on kiinni niin kyllä se sillon on aika alkaa englantia sönköttämään. Se haittaa vaan itseä jos ei viitsi tai uskalla sanoa mitä on sanottavissa (en ole itsekään puhujatyyppi noin kun pitää jotenkin väkisin saada jotain nauhalle, mutta menkööt). Pienellä tuurilla siitä tulisi ehkä jopa jotain tekemistä omaan maan trolleille. "Aa ju pilding tö tsää aut of pället vud?" :)
