THEY DID IT AGAIN! War Thunder players and forum enjoyers just leaked sensitive government documents… again.
If you remember last year, users were banned left right and centre on the War Thunder forum for posting sensitive military information about weapons and vehicles.
But they weren't doing this to be some fearless whistleblowers. Like true gamers, they were doing it to complain about realism and game balance. Yup.

the shell was already being added to the game before the leak had happened, at the time of the leak it had placeholder stats which they had mentioned were placeholder stats but someone wasn't happy with that and still uploaded the documentation, plus gaijin has stated multiple times that when classified documentation is leaked they then are effectively unable to implement that change for obvious reasons

Game balance should come as a higher priority than a country's defence. If a game isn't balanced it makes it reality altering and might mean the end of the earth as we know it, therefore it should be a higher priority. I rest my case.

Fun fact: The argument which lead to the F-16 documents being leaked actually started with them arguing that the F-16 is 0.7 seconds slower in real life.

16, there have been 16 known leaks
2 Challenger 2, 2 Eurocopter, 3 different Chinese ones (APFSDS, Tank, and Heli), 1 Leclerc, 1 Aussie Abrams, 1 PUMA, 2 different South Korean ones, 2 F-16 (one was copy & paste from the DCS leak), MIG-29 and now 1 F-15E Strike Eagle.
Edit: nevermind it's now 19
There is su35 manual, the fa-18 specs and manual, as well as the documentation for the Fatman atom bomb
Media has only reported on 4 of 5 of these.

@@blitz_3746 OK lets Count 2 on the Abrams, 2 on the Challenger, 1 on the Leclerc, 3 on Chinese MBTs, 1 on the Tiger UHT, 2 about AAMs ( Russian and American), 1 on the F 16, 1 about the F 15 , i believe also 1 about the SU 57s Radar, on the J8 Bs Radar, the Eurofighter Typhoon DA7s Flightmanuals (730 Pages of wich 5 are Unclassified), a leakd Photo comparing the Chinese 120mm APFSDS Round with another Chinese 140mm APFSDS Round (comparing theArmor Penetration values) and Flight Manuals of an F117 (8 Pages), M2A2 Bradley ((Technical Details about the Turret and Spall Liners) 2 Pages). So about 19 individuell classified Leaks by now (If i missed one please let me know and i will Update the List Accordingly).

I can confirm this. I was used as a reference for my buddy who applied for a military position, and they had called me to follow up. Standard phone call but at the end they legitimately asked if he played war thunder lmao

Actually, most of that isn't true. A lot of the things on forums aren't really even classified.
You see a lot of memes about this, but just read the first few lines, or the whole thing if you know.
So far, we got leaks about:
Challenger (British MBT, turret rotation speed)
Leclerc (French MBT)
Some Chinese APFSDS (pen. Values and some other things)
F16 (I think it was the weaponry manuals)
F15 (also weapon manuals) And no, defence contractors aren't interested on if you play war thunder. That Reddit post was fake, and the companies even confirmed they wouldn't ask about what you play.

Most of the “leaks” as of late have been declassified documents that users have simply found online. Still not great to distribute, but they are publicly available to say the least.

f16, chinese sabot, and i think stuff about the challenger tanks were all classified, in only one of the cases of leaks was it "unclassified" and publicly available, which was a (weapons?) manual from (i believe a french jet) that was given to anyone who purchased, piloted, or operated on said jet

To me it was funny how the F-16 documents were classified since it is such an old jet
The US has an air force so advanced that we have an entire 3 generations of fighters more advanced than other countries (not including like China) IN MUSEUMS several remain classified because it's still a workhorse fighter that they don't want freely seen
Keep in mind there is a HUGE difference between export restricted documents and classified documents.

The last one (the part defence contractor asking if the hired plays war thunder or not) were fake, the writer were doing it for the joke and the company (raytheon) clarified that they're not doing that for background check.
