Toyota doesn’t make a heavy duty Tundra. Toyota does however make some awesome diesels that are not imported into the USA.

Driving my 2008 Tacoma (200k+miles) until it breaks. Plan to convert to diesel then… unless Toyota USA offers a new Tacoma with diesel (4cyl turbo) model sooner.

The diesel autos I drove in Europe told me that no turbo is required for crazy high torque and unbelievable mileage even when getting into the throttle and tire chirping on shifts constantly. I thought the fuel gage was broken. Nope! Sips fuel even when zooming. I don’t want or need turbo and especially don’t need hybrid. Both add to initial cost, more things to go wrong (reliability suffers) and additional cost of ownership. Way too many cars that use batteries for the drivetrain inexplicably catch on fire even when parked and in collisions start burning and in both cases no amount of water extinguishes lithium batteries when the burn.
I'm in the market for a new truck. If Toyota comes out with a diesel, well...count me in!

NA customers are crazy when it comes to diesels. Slowly coming around after the VW diesel disaster. I have the 2018 Chev Equinox 1.6 TDI and it is a great diesel engine. 40MPG on the highway. Lots of torque for climbing steep grades at 240ft/lbs. 134 hp and 6spd auto. Would have been awesome with the 6spd manual offered in the Chev Cruz as it was built on the same platform.

Tundra could dominate their market segment if they had a diesel that did not require DPF and DEF. I drive an 06 Cummins to avoid the DEF and DPF problems.

I have a second gen tundra with the 5.7 and I love it, I’m not buying another tundra though unless it has a gas V8 or diesel option, I really wish Toyota would make a hevi duty truck.
Love the Toyota quality and reliability. Would probably only run the V8 Tundra on Propane as the gas mileage is pretty thirsty. Drove a 12V 97' 2500 Dodge for years and then had a 07' 5.9 CRD 6BTA and was used to decent mileage when hauling and towing. My wife has a 2010 GMC with the 6.6 Duramax. Doesn't set the world on fire with economy but it is better than the V8 gas most days. Inspiring to see the 1,000,000 mile tundra. Must have burned a refinery's worth of petrol racking up those miles. Twin Turbo gas should improve mileage but be hard pressed to achieve the longevity of the V8 being replaced. Wife has a 2014 Highlander with the 3.5 engine with 350,000 kms and it drives like new with great performance and decent mileage for an 8 passenger rig. Cheers!

Funny how you guys don't even offer a diesel option in any vehicle in America...
I was ready to buy a Tahoe diesel earlier this year, but the chip shortage derailed that plan for the foreseeable future (couldn't order the vehicle I wanted). If this video foreshadows diesel engines in Toyota's SUVs in the US market I'll add here that I'd be more eager to buy a diesel 4Runner or Sequoia than that Tahoe. Please give me a reason to give you my money.

With the right combination this would get me to buy my first Toyota. The ultimate of course would be an I-6 Diesel PHEV Tundra. Wouldn't need much electric range, but to be able to use it as a job site generator for bigger equipment would make it stand out from the crowd.

I think that's only category that sell most diesels. I don't see Toyota waste time in marketing convincing people to buy diesel in Camry, Corolla, RAV4 or Highland if they have some many hybrid offerings.

there is a big void that needs filled after VW scandal and not just for trucks, but also for cars and SUVs. This is a perfect climate for new players to show up. Also it would not be wise to put all eggs in one basket aka all electric cars. That is why we need more players in diesel space.

Everyone talking about trucks and suvs with a diesel i would buy a sedan with one
