    Thanks for the video. Helped me learn the rod basket before I went up for the first time. Was rough the first few hangs but then started rolling. Appreciate it man

    I just started learning rod basket a few weeks ago. No pointers and I was struggling. Watched this last night and today I did a lot better

      @@derektatro1640 now I just need the operator to be more consistent with how fast he moves the blocks and I think I would do way better

      @@Drf35k0 usually they have a ring that you hold up with your thumb and pinky until you line up the square on the transfer with the square on the rod. Once the rod is in the transfer, let go of the ring and that'll hold it.

    Old rig hand here I can tell you the margin for error is very small. This man has some good hand eye up there.

      I remember those days Mr Keith. Smashed fingers and stitches didn't count as injuries. In 2004. The Rig I consulted on cost 389.oo a minute to operate. Now if you get a bump. You have to fill out an accident report.

    That would be one cold ass place to work in the winter. On my old rig I’ve got a birds nest with a heater in it

      I worked Derrick in Northern Canada for 30 years. I got folded up in a Rod Basket once when the Blocks caught it.

      I was working the bird basket and the operator miss counted rod boxes and crowned out. I jumped out of the basket because I knew what was next. I heard him clutch it in and I instantly knew it Was going to be bad. Luckily he didn’t snap the drill line

      @@Naltddesha I jumped out of the basket, to the outside of the derrick where the ladder on our was located. You don’t want to be in that basket if the blocks fall. Ours weighed 10,000 lbs and they fall fast

      @@kylepatterson2679 tell your operator to watch his drum line it never lies that’s what I do I only look up to check the derrickhand pulling the transfer or elevators

    Awl shit hate it lol , I like the tubing board don’t like rods probably because my transfers were junk . You got that weird open block never messed with those on the tubing board just push and pull on the dead line for tall tubing 👍

      @@derektatro1640 I did all the deliveries for oil rigs anchors/ R drains/ fike drains/ polish rods /plungers/ pump rods/ bailers and flappers/ etc and got my foot in I’m just excited for this new chapter in careers

    Technology hasn't changed much since I was in the derrick 40 years ago. I do like the open blocks though. Are they good for avoiding stackouts when pulling pipe?

      It helps I guess but they are intended for the speed kit
