I love this paint and have painted everything from my kitchen cabinets, outside furniture, front door, and furniture. Using the products deglosser is important in addition to following the techniques that the HTP teaches. Such as brush on the paint and use a small sponge roller to roll out the brush marks. I personally did not stipple. I either brushed on or used the applicator and always followed with the roller to take out brush marks. All of my finishes are smooth and beautiful. Everything I painted two years ago has held up beautiful. There are some items I painted that need three coats. Won’t use anything else but this paint.

    • @kirbzmom
      @kirbzmom Рік тому +3

I'm glad someone mentioned protocol. The paint is made to work in tandem with their deglosser. That is what helps it bond to the surface. You won't have that guarantee using a different company's product. And you use so little of it, it lasts forever. Same thing with the primer.

@lauraadleta2689 Ditto-Ditto-Ditto! You are spot on and mentioned ever key factor I wanted to say. I would not dare paint over anything without that Deglosser and the Scotts green scrubbing pad 😁 I’ve been using ever product they have for years and won’t use anything else. 😊

I have thinned this out and used a brush and it worked great. I didn’t mix water in it but rather sprayed water on the round brush I was using. It’s very durable. I did sand lightly in between coats with 320. Very smooth finish.

Thank you for reviewing this paint. I've seen several videos on how to avoid brush strokes, so using their techniques is essential with this paint but thank you for reviewing its durability because nothing is worse than spending all the time and money and then it does not last. Thanks again for your perspective on this paint.

  • @tampatammylynn2745

Their most current how-to video techniques recommend to brush on the paint to coat your finish, and then immediately roll with a dry smooth fine sponge roller for a most smooth finish. It is a self leveling paint but if all you do is “stipple it on” I would expect it to have some texture to the finish. If you want it smooth, either stipple or brush to lay the paint on, and then roll it lightly without pressure to smooth. I’m in love with this paint. I want to paint ALL THE THINGS!!

    • @ARayofSunlight

Love this paint. I did a rocking chair with just a brush - no issues. Then I did all my kitchen cabinets, brush and roll, and oh, it turned out fantastic. There is a little wear in a few high traffic areas, but I walk through once every other month, do a little touch up here and there, and in ten minutes I'm done. Did my metal front door - gorgeous. Currently using it to redo all the trim in our house. Next up, the dining room chairs. Highly recommend.

I have used the paint before. I didn’t follow their instructions because my bedroom set was a Cherry finish. I washed, sanded, primed with BIN shellac primer. I brushed on with my Cling On brush, 2-3 coats, then I rolled over the brush strokes. I sanded lightly inbetween coats with 600 sandpaper, final coat was water based poly even though it didn’t need it. I did my set 2 yrs ago and it’s still perfect. Almost no brush strokes or texture. I have done projects with no priming or top coat and the finish is still really hard and does not scrape off. But allow 30 days for a full cure.

You need to apply a little more paint than you did and you very lightly stipple with the sponge or use their sponge roller, again very lightly and you have zero brush strokes or texture. I’ve painted my kitchen cabinets, my island, front door, various furniture pieces including a leather live seat and sofa with it. They are gorgeous and still look great going on 5 years.

I have painted my entire kitchen. You only use the sponge for the ugly first coat. When using the brush you must also use the roam roller and it will smooth it all out nicely with no brush strokes or texture. It self levels. Just done roll it too much. They have tons of videos to help you.

They don't recommend sanding it. If you use their deglosser no rinsing or sanding.

I love this paint but it's not a no prep paint how they claim. When u actually sanded it worked...before, it peeled away.

Use a brush then roll over it

You can’t get a real feel for this paint if you don’t use ALL the techniques they’ve developed to use with it. The deglosser isn’t just a degreaser. It will etch glass, so it will definitely etch laminate. That’s why it’s a no-sand method. You also didn’t put enough down the first coat. They have numerous tutorials on their UA-cam channel that show the whole process, as well as parts of it, including how much paint to put down. The applicator is only for the rough coat and stippling. You are supposed to use a brush for the second coat. But then you brush and stipple or foam😊 roll.

Loved the durability but not a fan of the finish.

Mistakes: 1. Did not use the HTP deglosser
    2. You did not use the roll technique after stippling or brushing which is part of the HTP process to flawless application.
Use it correctly and you’ll have zero issues!
No need to sand. No need to top coat. Cures hard as nails without chipping, scratching off.
The BEST all in one hands down.

This paint is awful!!! I just tried it. It took about four coats, and it dries instantly. It has no coverage at all, even with primer. It will still need two coats or more if you buy primer. It is expensive and they don’t take returns. I wish I would’ve known this before investing on all the paint. It is awful and the primer might be a bonding primer but not a hide primer. I wish I would’ve gone with infinity from Sherwin William or Dunn Edwards. This sponge disintegrates how do you still live in little pieces in the paint as well as a little roller. The brush sheds is just awful all around. My loss is your gain so save your money.
