Adds so much more thrill to it; smooth rides are boring. That is why, I too, prefer woodies over steel coasters Edit: Ok, I don't really remember writing this, but it's a very stupid comment lol. So. I was weirdly tall as a child. So my parents realised "hey, we can make them ride any roller coaster we want with them and no one can stop us." So when I was, say, 8, my Mother put me in line for this. She refused to ride with me. So I had to ride alone. I was so scared that I held my breath the entire time. In the on board photo my cheeks were puffed like a pufferfish. Now, normally, I actually smile in fear on roller coasters. I was so scared that I smiled through these puffed cheeks. As you can imagine, I was terrified to ride rollercoasters after. I couldn't ride them because I would become too stressed on line and bail. And my father mocked me. He assumed Torro was just a reskin of Roaring Thunder. Which makes sense, because he is so deaf that he couldn't hear the difference. For years I would only ride Runaway Train and Houdini. I was too scared at Disney to ride Haunted Mansion! I worked to conquer this fear. But eventually, by watching videos like this one about the science and safety measures of rides, I managed to become confident enough to stay on line. And I love roller coasters now! I rode Nitro during the Christmas opening for so long without getting off that the friend I was riding with sprained her tailbone. But my father's sister visited last year, and she wanted to ride El Toro. He is a roller coaster veteran, having been at the park when Runaway Train was the only steel coaster. So he had to ride it. He was terrified by it. He came off noticeably shaken and feeling sick. He refused to apologize for the mockery, and said that though I was justified in being afraid of el Toro but not all rollercoasters. Which seemed cruel at the time, but is pretty reasonable.
when someone utters the words “el toro”, my hip bones get traumatized all over again. those damn restraints do not get alone with folks with sharp or prominent hip bones lol. that being said, as a new jersey native i still have great memories on el toro. probably the best ride at great adventure
it's interesting you say that. i have such an issue with gatekeeper's restraints drilling into my hip bones that i felt like i was going to vomit by the end of the ride. meanwhile i've never had a problem with el toro. weird
I made the mistake of purposely not tightening it enough the first time I rode because my hip was injured (another poor decision in itself) and I damn near thought I would fall out. Now I glady give myself the hip trauma! lol
I think the intended effect of El Toro is that exactly, to rock your whole body with the combination of the restraints and the airtime since bull riding does exactly that, rock your whole entire body but i can imagine how horrible it feels lmao
You either have to be old enough to ride toro in its opening year for boosted lift, or just be chill with Ryan and ask for the boosted lift when he still worked there lmao
A wise man once said "If you mess with the Bull, you get the Horns" That's what I like to tell people who underestimate this coaster. Hell of a ride would be putting it lightly.
Great Video!!! El Toro is my absolute favorite coaster and the twister part is the best. Rode again this year and SLAPS better every year. Keep up the good work!!!
I always remember going to SFGA as it was my home park watching this ride being built. It looked insane. My dad would always sit with me on the rides and he hardly seemed scared or shook from the rides, but I will always hear him go “woah!” throughout the whole experience on El Toro. It’s become my favorite coaster ever throughout the years.
The first time I rode was in 2014 for my senior trip and I remember coming home and telling my mom how crazy this ride was. I got to re-ride this year and it's still as good as my first reaction. Good review 😊
Absolutley agreed brotha. I have been to Great Adventure since I was born 1992 and have a marathon record of 25 straight on EL Toro at Riding of the Bull. I think there really isn't a best seat on El Toro, it's about what personally you define as most intense. Both the Ejector and Floater are violent no matter what seat your in, like you said the front is going to force you out as you fly up the hills and the back will give you that sustained Flojecter as you crest over and then back down. The Valley's on El Toro are the smallest that I've seen on intense traditional woodies that I have rode topping Shivering Timbers, Hades and the Voyage. Also on the bank down I can understand why people would define it as rough, but to me after marathoning it 25 straight times last year and 21 the year before as well as going on it since opening, it's natural to me as well. I ask the people who complain about El-Toro being rough if they have rode Rolling Thunder, because if we want to talk rough rides look no further. I also went on it's sister coaster Balder at Liseberg(plan on riding Colossos next year) and I think with Balder your lacking the laterals el toro has, however you also get insane ejector(maybe even slightly over RMC level) on the bunny hills given how friendly the lap bars are. But I can definitely see why you have El-Toro as #1. I think you put out amazing content and would love to meet you as you go really in depth with your reviews. Amazing content as always!!
I can't marathon El Toro since my butt starts to hurt really badly. I'm a small thin person, and there's not enough padding for my liking. And if you want to really experience all the Intamin pre-fabs, make sure you make it to South Korea.
The best coaster review I have ever seen. I agree with the fact that it is comparable to Intamin Megas but thats a fucking good thing. I haven't ridden Toro yet but it will be one of my favorites for sure. Currently Expedition GeForce is my number 1. Intamin slaps
It's what more People shall do. Ever read trough online Product Reviews? I mean Fake Reviews are a Reason alone to take Online Reviews with the most heaviest pinch of Salt, but you can't count on genuine Reviews either for a lot of Crap. I've seen so many Products getting 1 Star Reviews, because the User is simply to stupid to use a Product or read the Description. For Example, I'm using a HDMI Splitter. It is cheap, reliable, does exactly what it is supposed to and does it well. But it doesn't do 4k. It didn't say it could; in Fact they rated it for 1080p /60 Hz. Literally all of the 1 Star Reviews complained, that it couldn't handle 4K... Positive Reviews as well. Especially electrical Devices, lol. I'm a trained Electrician. Yes, this Charger looks fine, it was cheap, and it charges the Phone. But it may also kill ya. This Lamp looks very fancy, I like it! But without modifications to the Stupid Thing, your Child may be Electricuted one day, because the Housing is conductive Metal and there is no fucking way to connect it to PE. However, you can still talk objectively and I appreciate that he does bring in all the Facts to his personal - very positive - Opinion. That's how it should be! And that's why People who don't know the Fuck they are talking about shouldn't do Reviews.
I love that last hill..That is literally my favorite part of the ride. Watching this video makes me happy seeing someone appreciate this coaster as much as I do
I love how you gave credit to not only the back row, but also prasied the front and middle. Most other theme park channels only talk about the back as if thats the only good row or how the front is a bad row or just ignore it completely
I rode it in the back row for the first time with my sister because that's where enthusiasts told me to sit. I wouldn't recommend it if you're not experienced like my sister.
Great Documentary! Love it! My mom rode this before. My dad was like “it’s nothing!” Then when the drop came she was like “Wtf??!!” She was literally like “That was a bull” she was about to kill my dad 😂 😂 😂

I love this ride, can’t wait to go back next year for this one again. Was going to go this year but now it’s broken and track needs repair. All the way out in Pittsburgh. Can’t get enough of el toro.
@@AntonioMorales-yc9zx why would they take it down? Many people come to great adventure for el toro, it was ranked best wooden coaster in 2017. Repairs will cost money, but it might cost them more in the long run if they remove it.
Definitely "Dull" never came to mind when i got to ride this coaster. My daughter and I were both blown away. So glad we can still say "Remember El Toro?!?!?" together and share that memory. It's a long way from home for us but we took a trip to Great Adventure one time to experience it and Kingda Ka, and we must go back! The Launch on Kingda Ka and El Toro are 2 of the finest thrill ride moments I can recall.
El Toro is a favorite roller coaster EVER. It was so freaking smooth while also being insanely crazy I rods it 8 times when I went to Great Adventure. We went there for the Kingda Ka credit, and fell in love with El Toro. Can't wait until this pandemic is over cause I'm taking a trip up the east coast and visiting as many amusement parks as I can!
Easily my favorite wooden coaster of the 120+ coasters I've ridden - and I actually think it's my favorite coaster ever. The front is great but the back is the absolute best. Your analysis is spot-on when comparing it to the RMCs (which I also love).
Ugh i never wanted to ride a rollercoaster so bad besides my favorites ive already ridden before. You described the ride in such detail i feel i MUST ride this now
When my family bought season passes, I waited almost a full year to ride this ride as we kept missing it. When I finally rode it, I knew then and there that it earned it’s title as one of if not the best wooden coaster ever built. I rode it twice in that weekend visit and loved it
Agreed💯 what an awesome break down you have presented in this video. El Toro is such a masterpiece. I find it hard to rank among any other woodie or even the RMC hybrids. For me, it ranks among its own family (Maverick, Skyrush and Intimidator 305)
I am glad I live near this beast and have been able to be to six flags a few times, and am sure to ride this multiple times every time. It's such a good ride. One of my fav coasters!
BEST ElToro Video. Hands Down. Excellent Work Man! I rode it early after opening. OUTSTANDING Even when I rode it a apx. 5 yrs ago, it was STILL off the track at times. Amazing Ride all the same! I'll be back when she reopens. (Back or Mid Back Seats 100 Percent!)
22 minutes thats love, man. First time I rode in 2008 was a religious experience. This coaster is still this holy grail to me. Too bad its 3000 miles away. My 2018 rides did jackhammer me a little hopefully that doesnt continue
I fly across the Atlantic just for El Toro (and sister Kingda Ka)! I looooove El Toro so much. It's always a slap in the face. In 2016 the lift cable was way faster than in 2010 and the last ejector hill (rolling thunder overpass), my preferred, scored -1.95 g and gave me a small nose bleed, that was fabulous!
Your reviews have all been really exceptional. Congratulations on some great work. With your love on wooden coasters I bet a top 10 ranking would be best on youtube.
I worked here in the 2006 summer season as a supervisor, so I rode this coaster so many times in pretty much every seat.. but it never got old. I highly recommend this in the back seat as the video suggests. If given the chance, Kingda Ka in the front car.
Man I NEED to get to New Jersey to ride this coaster Also, you said the upstop wheels on Toro are steel, but I’ve always been curious, are the running wheels steel as well? Or are they poly wheels?
This is one of the most passionate and in depth analysis of any roller coaster I've ever seen, and it uses my very favourite POV of El Toro, especially considering how many there are. With all of the back seat POV's of El Toro, I'm curious and have to have to ask: Why do you like this one the best?
I believe I rode this in the first year and I smelled and felt wood shavings going over the first few hills. I guess its good they slowed it down. Craziest hills ever, it's like being sucked down
I want one this not too long ago. It was very very scary but super fun!! Loved it! Would totally go on it again. It’s crazy because it’s a 181 foot drop 😳
El Toro is easily my favorite Wooden coaster and easily my Top 5 of all time. This coaster reignited my respect for wooden coasters. I was 12 years old, and rode I305 that year when I went to KD. I went to SFGA and just got off Kingda Ka. I was thinking, yeah I’m too good for wooden coaster since I though “they were for kids”, since I always thought they barely went just above 100ft. And then my mom said let’s just try it out. I decided to. We went to the front. Headed up the hill, I looked down and said “wait this is high for a wooden coaster”, and as soon as we went down the hill, the rest was history. I completely underestimated the ride. One of the best experiences of my life.
I was able to ride el toro multiple times in 2019. I did 6 rides without getting off and it was intense every time. But the best experience I had was a night ride I had while it was fright fest. The ride seemed to be going it’s fastest that day and man.. what an experience. Pitch black darkness, fog all around the track, and it was going through that track like a demon! Can’t wait to go all year round and ride it a bunch again!
Awesome review, As a guy from the Netherlands and having ridden Collosus (Heide Park) which didn't blow me away i was not expecting this ride to be so good. The first half is almost the same as that ride only bigger and steeper, but that makes a BIG difference! Everything you said i agree with, i didn't find this ride to be rough at all, and its my favorite coaster ever since. I think for me only Fury 325 or Lightning Rod come close to being competitors. Funny thing, i visited Great Adventure in June 2016, were you still working the ride then? Because i think i remember seeing you but i could be mistaken.
I have a Six Flags pass for the first time since 2001 or '02. I've never been to Great Adventure but thanks to this review, I'm more motivated than ever to make the nearly 8 hour drive! Of coarse I'll want to get all the credits I can in a short amount of time, so I may not get multiple rides on it. Do you recommend a time of day? Which coaster provides the best night ride? Or am I better off coming earlier in the summer when there isn't too much darkness but plenty of heat?
Man this park is amazing!!! I’m use to the rides at my home park Six flags over Georgia, but this park has it all kid rides to crazy, el toro is amazing
Best wood roller coaster I been on; the daughter and I love to ride in the rear row to get as much “air time” as possible. We like to front row but the ride tends to be a bit rougher..
This is by far the best and most nerdy review of any coaster ever. I love it.

So glad I found your video and this excellent description. Thank you for your work!
BEST ElToro Video.
Hands Down.
Excellent Work Man!
I rode it early after opening.
OUTSTANDING
Even when I rode it a apx. 5 yrs ago, it was STILL off the track at times.
Amazing Ride all the same!
I'll be back when she reopens.
(Back or Mid Back Seats 100 Percent!)
Very nice .... ElToroRyan : ) i didn't think i would ever see new footage or hear new info (new to me) about this coaster, and you did both at 1:55
Omg I love your channel and your love for coasters!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you
22 minutes thats love, man.
Nice video ! I agree with you and its my #1 ride
Your reviews have all been really exceptional. Congratulations on some great work. With your love on wooden coasters I bet a top 10 ranking would be best on youtube.
very thorough and effective explanation
Absolutely the most informative video on a great ride! Thanks!
one of my fave rides at 6 flags! Medusa, American Scream Machine, Batman and Superman as well.
Wow. Definitely one the best reviews/analysis’s I’ve ever seen. Fantastic video.👏👏👏
I didn’t even realize the video was 20 mins until it was over…
Awesome review of El Toro, now I can't wait to get out there and ride it myself! This absolutely looks like the #1 highlight of Great Adventure.
On our Must Ride list. Great video-Thanks!
I live in the Netherlands and now I really want to go on El Toro. Also most of the clips used provide a really nice experience.
El toro is definitely a beast !!!. Rode it 6 times on reopen
This is a great video and you gave such nice information. I agree with all your thoughts.
NOICE review, I'm SO excited to get back on this monster this summer
We want a prediction video regarding its future. Would you prefer a rmc, Titan track, or something else treatment?
I worked here in the 2006 summer season as a supervisor, so I rode this coaster so many times in pretty much every seat.. but it never got old. I highly recommend this in the back seat as the video suggests. If given the chance, Kingda Ka in the front car.
Man I NEED to get to New Jersey to ride this coaster
Also, you said the upstop wheels on Toro are steel, but I’ve always been curious, are the running wheels steel as well? Or are they poly wheels?
You really do! And the running wheels are poly! The side running wheels are a mix of soft and harder poly, and the upstops are steel!
Maybe I'm a nerd (OK no maybeys about it), but I loved the fabrication clips! Especially after riding this for the first time yesterday.
This is one of the most passionate and in depth analysis of any roller coaster I've ever seen, and it uses my very favourite POV of El Toro, especially considering how many there are. With all of the back seat POV's of El Toro, I'm curious and have to have to ask: Why do you like this one the best?
I have never ridden el toro, but wow it looks fun!
I believe I rode this in the first year and I smelled and felt wood shavings going over the first few hills. I guess its good they slowed it down. Craziest hills ever, it's like being sucked down
"Make sure your car is heavy to reduce jackhammering."
Me eating chicken parmasean while watching this: I'm way ahead of you.
GREAT 👍 critique....all aspects including good lats....agreed!
On point as usual, bro. Keep up the awesome work.
Imagine if the manly bull statue was actually a water fountain where guests could fill up their water bottles =)
Mhmmm...refreshing!
I rode in the back seat today because of this video. 3 times in a row. Absolutely unreal
El Toro Ryan is inspirational
I have a Six Flags pass for the first time since 2001 or '02. I've never been to Great Adventure but thanks to this review, I'm more motivated than ever to make the nearly 8 hour drive! Of coarse I'll want to get all the credits I can in a short amount of time, so I may not get multiple rides on it. Do you recommend a time of day? Which coaster provides the best night ride? Or am I better off coming earlier in the summer when there isn't too much darkness but plenty of heat?
22:02 me @ people who over hate on Titan at SFOT.
It's not a great ride but it's over hated.
Titan is amazing, and thank goodness for that midcourse, or the second half would kill you.
I like your passion - this is a terrific ride and a terrific, expert review.... thanks.
Algorithm gang.
Been binging your videos a ton. Thank you for your consistently great content.
Great in depth review! Thanks!
