To be fair, he had a passenger on that third run with the rubber tires and still beat the previous time, so I'd say it is probably much faster without the added weight. Great video though!! Can't wait to do this for my boy!
This is correct.
The tire-slipping with the second run, driver only, was countered by the extra weight of a passenger in the third run with better traction.
20 years ago I put 3 batteries in series and screwed bike tires to the tires of my daughter's hummer. This was before UA-cam was big so I'm pretty sure that makes me the grandfather of these mods

I used wheels from harbor freight with bearings in them. Bushings to go from 7/16 axle to 5/8 wheel bearings.... next i am upgrading to a 5/8 axle. A 3D printer is my best friend for axle drive parts !

definitely trying this with my daughters power wheel. Might try coating the tires in a few layers of flex seal next time. Probably be alittle more traction and less weight.

What I used to do as a kid to do wheeles was to go in the grass and floor it in reverse and then shift it into forwards with out letting off the gas. Good times
Run 1 had 2 kids, run 2 had 1, run 3 2 kids again. Wonder what run 3 would have been like with 1 kid. Also hot wheels use to make a radar gun if you wanted to try that and see how fast they are actually going. Thx for the vid
The first time I took one of those apart, it used the same sized motor as an RC car. Maybe look for a more powerful motor at hobby shop, if the wiring can handle the current. My son agrees, plastic is better.

Harbor Freight Anti-Fatigue Roll Mat cut to size and applied to tires. A couple layers would absorb bumps a little better. Some cushioning inside the car for bump comfort/protection. RC car parts are the next level of power: brushless motors and performance batteries.
You should put bulbs in the exhausts somehow to make it look like it’s spitting flames
Add a 6 volt battery in series with the drill battery. Run it through a push button on the steering wheel like nitrous.

I just upgraded my 20v DeWalt battery and upgraded 750 motors modification for my daughter's jeep. I ran the 2 -20v DeWalt batteries in series to make it 40v. Holy fuck it's fast. Now I need the wheel bars. I have rubber traction strips on the wheels.

Just for one time only. Add just enough weight across the wheelie bars to bring front end just a half inch up in the air. And play video in slow motion. It will be good memories for him to look back on. After that take weight off. No more wheelies.
Ha Ha..JD...been there, done that with my sons mustang powerwheels years ago. However I used gaffers tape around the rear wheels to keep it more round. You can also put in a "nitrous button" by wiring in series another 18v battery. just dont keep it held down the whole time, could melt the motors...but for short bursts its a blast for the kids. try the gaffers tape on wheels. Its a good mix of traction and slippage to replicate the true friction coefficient of a tire. Love the family, god bless brotha.

You did the 3rd comparison (rubber tires) with his brother in the car...he may not weigh much but that difference is there lol... still thats badass, little bro is 2 and he's already drifting! my daughter is 18 months but cant reach the pedal..so for now she's in a ride-on that i control lol
Load the rear tires with closed cell polyurethane and find some pvc large enough to fit over the wheels or corrugated drain pipe. If you use the corrugated drain pipe, fill the gaps with silicone.
When I was a kid I had one and it ended up having those 6" wide pneumatic wheel barrow tires
It lasted so long we got too big for it so we took the motors out and better rear axle and turned it into a billy cart. Christ it was fast.
Electric motors and batterys are so much better now days.
Best we could get were 14v AGM batterys used for server UPSs.

The shop braught ones are so crude and I remember fuzzy vision from the vibrations. Hence the wide wheel barrow or ride on mower wheels.

Do the 775 motors with heat sinks .... i did that on my sons vette power wheel and it made a world of difference in reliability and power
