Something about the sound of a piano awakens my soul. So beautiful. 🙏

Hey, Thanks for posting the video - it's giving me confidence to refinish my old 19-teens Bjur Bros upright cabinet piano!
The finish on my piano was applied pretty think and "orange-peeled"/cracked pretty badly.
What varnish stripper did you end up using, looks like it works well!
Recently polished all the pins, replaced the hammers/dampers and a few of the wires, other than that, it's a great piano!
    Thanks, Best! m

Really nice relaxing video to watch. Enjoyed the piano music in the background.

The piece playing around the 20 minute mark reminds me of Chopin's Posth. Waltz in A minor, no doubt the one who composed that took a lot of inspiration from it, the same key, the same chord progression and rhythmic style, just a different melody.

Here's that piano piece that you said reminded you of Chopin: ua-cam.com/video/mj2bMJWff5E/v-deo.html

Wow, the piano looks great after stripping. The stripped color isn´t bad at all if you consider leaving it that color. It has a rustic look in my opinion. Black is of course more stylish : )

Thanks Ronnie! I plan on leaving it the natural color!

Just bought a baby grand (5'1) for only $1000, but it's white and the previous owner only partially refinished it. It's gonna take a lot of time to refinish myself, and the cost of paying someone to take the piano to their shop, refinish it, and then deliver it back here is way too much for my budget. This video has helped and lets me know what I'm getting my self into.

Wonderful! It's a big project, but extremely rewarding. Take your time. Buy good quality strippers (LOL). It will make your job much easier.

Those metal tools can gouge and ruin wood. I would have screamed if those were near my pianos.

I recently came in possession of an old Steinway upright. Its too bad that someone redid the varnish instead of restoring the original varnish. Still beautiful.

I don't know why you didn't remove the keyslip, keys, and action. The keyslip (flat piece between keys and seated player) itself should have been very easy to remove. Good job though. Removing the keys and action are fairly simple procedures and would have made working on this far easier as well.

What product did you use for the stripping?

liquid stripper since originally you'll use a gel stripper. liquid is more for removing the little bits and stain and you'll use steel wool pads.
