A fascinating and really interesting video on piano restoration. I have a baby Bluthner and would like that done to mine, although not in anyway as bad as the Bosendorfer, a piano that produces such an exciting sound.

Do you mean simple as in it's not an over the top project like some people on YT do, it is simply a piano. Or simple as in carrying out the project is easy. Cause last piano i tried fixing up i did more damage then i did good. Had to get a tuner out to rectify my stupidity😂 Oh well you live and learn. Edit* the piano was free, If i paid for it i would of left it in the state it came in.

Great job ! What's amazing about instruments is that we can take two similar instruments (frame, soundboard ribs, length, number of chords for individual keys) and they will still sound different. :)

Great video, thanks! If possible, could you please describe the individual steps of the restauration in a pinned comment or in the description of the video? It doesn't have to be in English. German or French would be fine too. Thanks a lot in advance!
The ending tone is not much to my liking, but that doesn't matter. You did humanity a service, a Bosendorfer should never be abandoned like that. Actually, no instrument should be abandoned like that.
The piano doesn't look very dirty or corroded for its age or where it was reported to have been. I was half expecting most or all the strings to be reused, not clipped out. But again could this represent how neat and clean barns in Switzerland are?
Looks very nice. I suppose the pin block was strong enough to withstand fatter tuning pins rather than replacing it? And - too bad you ran out of time to record the music you played - - that is, not waiting until the piano's tuning and voicing had properly been completed. I imagine it should sound quite nice after that.
4:42 - 4:48 - I would love to know what you are doing right there with the strings. Is that a special device to separate the individual strings evenly with a consistent spacing? By the way, did you reuse the bass strings, or any other original strings?
ja genau, die erste "Schicht" wird vom Holz aufgesogen, dann kann man mit dem Ballen weiterarbeiten. Es sind allerdings mehrer Durchgänge, ca 10 Sessions über 2 Wochen.

Looks like a decent job! I’ve done this process many times but never put shims in the sound board. I did my part in the shop. I did restring them. Etc. It didn’t show him checking the downbearing. On the sound bd. After restringing he used the roller to stretch the strings. That may be not correct today.
Was expecting a "One Eternity Later" cut away when you started to restring all of the keys, I get annoyed enough with my floating bridge 6-string guitar. XD
So why are ivories missing in the beginning, then they're there when you take the action out? I can see changing the color of the case, but what was gained by painting the harp... outside of covering up the serial number so now you can't verify when it was made? Same goes with sanding the company off of the sound board. Sorry, thumbs down.
I recently went to a ‘venue, where there was a Steinway, Model M, (6’) undamped, and so out of tune it made the enamel on my teeth flake off and my eyes water. WHO DOES THAT to a piano ? Would love to find this beauty in a barn! Thank you for restoring thought I preferred the original wood. Is black more popular?
The original wood was in bad condition, sanded down, I could not save it...

What hammers did you use for this project?
Hi Fabian nice work. I can't see what are the 4 liquid you are using for the gold print
metal powder, schellack, linoil, etheric oil ( latschenkiefer)
When you can't distinguish the line between craftsman and artist.
bro you scared me when you started grinding off the gold
Where can you buy the Bosendorfer gold logo, I've always wondered where they find these during piano restorations
I make them myself

I usually keep the wood, as here ua-cam.com/video/ZeSE6sh7n0w/v-deo.htmlsi=CZdqTfpEmomaNal5
