That's what you get AFO when you try gas lighting a traumatized pyromaniac, an explosion. While it was terribly sad that those poor orphans are stuck in such a place, Mr. Sunny's face when he realized he didn't want that smoke was hilarious.
It was said in an extra page that Toya didn't actually burn the "orphanage", it was a small fire who got put out easily (and no one died). But the doctor feared that the truth about the "orphanage" would be exposed because of that so they blamed Mr. Sunny for accidentally starting the fire and the authorities were never informed.
My favourite line of this episode is "Yes Midoriya, it is my power. Thank you." So cool, feels like such a great full circle, this might surpass season 6 for me if it keeps going
Just so you know, Touya didn’t actually burn down that orphanage. Don’t know why the anime decided to make the fire look even bigger, but in the volume it was clarified that his fire was too weak, didn’t hurt anyone, and was quickly put down. But the Flower Guy was afraid that since Touya run away, the place will be discovered, so he set the fire to the building after getting everyone out. Edit: Remembered it wrong, the Flower Guy didn’t set it on fire, Touya’s fire was just easily put down and Doctor put the fire on the Flower Guy to hide the truth about the facility.
...incorrect. The volume stated Toya's fire didn't set the place on fire, but it was strong enough to cause minor damage and was easily stopped. To ensure nobody looked deeper, the Doctor had Sun guy take responsibility for the "accident".
Shoto Todoroki might be one of the best characters in the series. The whole Todoroki family plotline is incredible for the most part. Aside from Enji, but at least he’s realistic. The whole plotline has a lot of great writing in it, and it's really at the forefront here.
Dabi's VA did a phenomenal job this episode and honestly has been since the Touya reveal. Gives me similar vibes to Mahito when it comes to the sheer insanity. Props to all of the VAs so far, they definitely are giving their 100% and it's always one of my favorite parts of any adaptation.
When he's shouting Endeavor's attacks, he sounds really similar to him. Rewatch Endeavor's fight with the high end and compare them saying their attacks. It's really really similar. Very cool episode.
The fight was amazing. But honestly the flashback stuff with Touya was sad as well. We see even after everything Endeavor did, Touya was still willing to put his feelings of hurt aside and just go back home and apologize. Endeavor kept telling Touya to give up on his ambitions because it would only hurt Touya. But Endeavor himself never gave up on that dream. He kept trying to have children to make the "perfect kid". Then Touya literally exploded and burned alive because of the emotional and psychological trauma he went through because of Endeavor's ambitions. And even after all that, Endeavor didn't stop. Touya came home and saw that Endeavor had just gotten worse. While he was alive, Touya couldn't change anything. And even in death, Touya couldn't change anything. His father didn't learn anything. It's like his very existence was meaningless. So if Touya didn't have any meaning, he would be burned to ash and be reborn as Dabi. With flames so hot even the Demon Lord himself couldn't control them. I also love that Dani started to burn through the All Might statue. Because living up to that impossible ideal and his father's envy are what tore their family apart to begin with. And once again Dabi acknowledges again that he and the League are the accumulation of everything wrong with Hero Society. Their pain was created because of the failures of society. Which makes it even more fitting that Dabi begins to burn down the literal symbol of hero society.
I couldn’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life. It’s also honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when none of this should really be his responsibility. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One now instead, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto, and I can’t say I blame him. Still though, I hope that Shoto can get through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks.
Beautiful episode, man! They really did amazing, that calm moment before Shoto's final move was a great touch with their young frames reacting to the impact. You guys are in for more greatness to come, this is just the beginning!
Those last few minutes of the episode hit so hard, I loved pretty much everything about it, especially the OST. Great episode, it's also my favourite of the season so far

After using Hell Spider, Dabi mimicked Hawks' move in the last war to speed behind Shouto and the Sidekickers. Which is a cool parallel and shows Dabi's battle IQ for observation in addition to learning all of Endeavor's ultimate moves by himself
The depths of Dabi’s past truly feel like descending into hell. Garaki finally speaks up on one of the biggest conundrums among the villains. Dabi ALWAYS had special treatment. And while them knowing he was Endeavor’s son, they for some reason had absolute faith in him to take command of the vanguard action squad in the camp attack. They assigned Nomu especially to him, they gave him Hood the 1st High End, and just a VARIETY of other special treatments. But to watch AFO step up in the tremendous forest fire was one of the SINGLE most haunting panels in the manga. Y’know. Aside watching Touya just intentionally burn himself away. The man in the hat appeared in a panel removed in season 5, and the orphanage decorations appeared in a panel removed from season 4. There’s little pieces put together. But I can’t speak on those yet. Touya woke up in this orphanage run by Garaki. His body modified. His voice changed. And staring down those taken by AFO 3 WHOLE YEARS later. A fate VERY similar to Shigaraki. But Touya was out of control. He had not completely severed his desire to be with his family. And his unending drive to be taught by Endeavor. Slight correction. Touya did not burn this orphanage down. Mr Sunny did out of fear of being discovered. And the people who lived there were moved to another facility. They did go over in the season 6 opening episode that Garaki had a variety of orphanages, hospitals, and other covered buildings. In reality it was just another home in AFO’s empire. These people were like AFO’s ingredients to make something new. What we don’t know, since there’s possibilities of Nomu ingredients, and other creations we know they’ve made. But considering the special treatment and the desire to maintain Touya’s anger and hatred…that screams something VERY different. And then to have the proof when he returned things just didn’t improve. Shoto was getting “trained” and Rei was now in the hospital. And he even prayed at his own grave knowing he truly was gone from this family. He came to this fight wanting to end it all. And burn everything his family had built to the ground and take them with him. And we see what a prime adult Dabi can REALLY do. This isn’t a show like he was doing in front of Endeavor in Season 6 trying to have him take a good look at what Dabi is and his intentions. This time he’s going all out. With enough fire to burn down the city, he’s figured out EVERY of Endeavor’s ultimate moves but they are hotter and sloppier. Literally punching Shoto through skyscrapers and trying to take away the one thing he truly believed Endeavor wanted. But Shoto shows off his cold flames to survive. Again I’ll state that Shoto IS now capable of using fire and ice from both sides using his heart as the valve. (So we AREN’T doing the avatar lightning rules of don’t let it cross your heart.) This is his way of keeping himself from burning like Touya and the flamin sidekickers can only do so much protecting Shoto as they DON’T have the temperature regulation. His class never left him behind. They by now I’m sure have been informed of Shoto’s circumstances by Shoto himself. As he figured himself out. Who he wanted to be. And Deku never ONCE stepped back as the person who truly managed to set this whole family on the path to heal. Deku’s lesson to him ALL THE WAY back in season 2 started the domino effect. Shoto decided to help Rei, which rallied Fuyumi. And on his path to learn and grow it inspired Endeavor to be better. Natsuo was dragged in by force for Endeavor but he stood by them all. And they all came together with the reveal of Touya being alive. One small statement snowballed EVERYTHING. And here he is ready to stand for his family, and for everyone that helped him stand on the way here. With 2 new moves he quells what Dabi did. Freezing the entire city solid and finally putting out Dabi’s hellish fire. And Dabi passes out. (How these two managed to keep BREATHING with all the fire is beyond me. There has to be NO oxygen left in the city) What an absolute FIRE episode. Can Touya be saved? Can this family finally heal once and for all from its past? And will Iida be any contribution to this at all? And what kind of fresh hell awaits in the other battles. This is a huge stepping stone but this isn’t over by a long shot.
The fact that toya learned all of endeavors moves from videos and memory is crazy but also tragic. Still trying to be like his dad. All moves surpass the original, with hell spider and hell minefield being more wild and destructive versions of the original. Meanwhile, shoto tries to be different, having his own moves with their own names but still using what he learned from endeavor. For example, Jet Kindling is the same move as Jet Burn, horikoshi just stated that shoto changed the name since he didnt want it to be the same as his dad. While dabi aimed to surpass endeavor to be recognized, shoto aimed to surpass his upbringing and recognize who he wants to be.

@@Kaempfdog ohhh right. Dabi has parallels to the villain Number 6 in vigilantes. Taken by afo and groomed to be a vessel. Six idolized a hero and wanted to be like him too. Even having his quitk. But dabi goes way beyond that which is why he was hard to control
FYI, freezing flames are an actual thing you can make in real-life. There are multiple videos on UA-cam and whatnot, it's just very impractical to produce for such a niche phenomenon.
one thing that it was cut off in the anime but was established in the manga, was that Overhaul was part of that same orphanage. At least in the anime, you can see in one of Overhaul's flashback that he was found as a kid by his sensei after he escaped a fire.
Absolute zero is difficult because it becomes increasingly difficult to extract energy from the system, in fact it is so difficult that nothing in the universe is or will ever be at absolute zero, The maximum temperature is the point where the emitted energy is above the sustainable limit and collapses into a black hole
Its crazy how dabi still tried to be like endeavor. He copied all of endeavors moves just through videos and memory and made them his own with his firepower. He used Hell Minefield against the sidekicks, a move we see endeavor use in vigilantes. Also, the flaming sidekicks are the best support for shot when he goes pro. Burnin can form her own flames with her hair and fly, Onima has pyrokinesis, and Kido could just control the trajectory of all his attacks.
Such a good episode, Bones cooked! Favorite part of the episode was indeed Shoto coming full circle by acknowledging it as his own power. The stylistic choice for their child selves at the end was perfect and it was an excellent choice to leave the whole endpoint silent. Awesome reaction guys, keep up the great content 👍
Can we talk about how AFO has an entire orphanage of kids that he grooms that is just so messed up Also the fact that Dabi knew he wouldn't survive long but turned down AFO's offer of not only ensuring his body would receive treatment but that he'd get his flames back to how they were yet still refused because he wanted to go back to his family was just so sad.
Why would he be dead when Shouto's move simply neutralised his heat though? Shouto straight up says that he invented this move FOR Touya, you think he'd be using a killing move on him? 😭😂 It did exactly what he said it does - it simply cooled Touya down. Touya is out there telling Shouto that he came into this battle looking to use either him or dad to commit murdersuicide and Shouto asking him to stop should be a good hint that he's trying to *stop* him from dying.
A little late but this episode was absolutely amazingly well done. The sad news is 5 more chapters are confirmed for MHA in the manga and then its done. It really is sad to see it go.
The Todoroki's heat should be around 5000 Degrees Celsius ( Bakugo's nitroglycerin heat ) 27760 Degree Celsius ( the heat from Nine's Lightning ) Hotter than Star's Max output Lasers. Or you can also use Vigilantes and say they're Flames are hot as ( No: 6 Plasma Body ) a little detail the anime didn't add in the Manga Shoto's Great Glacier Aegir cleared the Clouds above them.
To think Dhabi could have stayed good if he went home bc he said he wants to go home but since the sunny guy didn’t let him he let bad thoughts go into his head
Spoiler free: another banger ep like the animation, music and va ihas been top notch theoughout this season it not the first time we seen a man in a fedora, infact we seen the same man dropping off a young tenko at his house in shigaraki origins from the manga which was cut out the anime volume extra reveals thst the orphange fire was quickly put out and thankfully nobody was hurt, though the orphanes fate is left ambigious, it could be revealed in the "your next"movie anime additions: the anime added that vhs effect when toya saw flashes of his past which was a nice touch, like he was watching a tape of a family memory the anime added dabi watching endeavor on a laptop in an construction site
Isn't his quirk also called 'Cremation' in canon, or at least in the English Dub? That would be so cool because choosing his quirk's name as a name for himself would be a direct reference of how he's always been reduced to his quirk. His father wanted him to have a perfect, powerful quirk, All For One was (initially) interested in his quirk and he himself is also obsessed with his own quirk. He's literally just his quirk (and his hatred for his family), hence 'Cremation'.
Shoto could've had a cryokinesis evolution in his quirk? And a battle over the ocean? And he makes a Hail Intercontinental Punch Smash? On dabi? That would've been cool
Boy, the more Dabi talked, the more Endeavor turned into the real villian here😂 Also, it was indeed suprising that this big of a story/fight, only went on for like half a episode...
Dabi killed immeasurable number of innocent people. So my sympathy is in the negative. Rorschach said it best: a dog gets put down. Dabi is a wild dog that needs to culled.
I guess I could point out that the place where Toya woke up was where Chisaki was also raised before he also escaped and ran into his pops, but someone else is gonna explain that better

I really think that they should have exchanged more blows instead of so many flashbacks. I do get the emotional situation and its nice, but there were things like that present mic explanation that were unesecary

This is his way of keeping himself from burning like Touya and the flamin sidekickers can only do so much protecting Shoto as they DON’T have the temperature regulation.
His class never left him behind. They by now I’m sure have been informed of Shoto’s circumstances by Shoto himself. As he figured himself out. Who he wanted to be. And Deku never ONCE stepped back as the person who truly managed to set this whole family on the path to heal. Deku’s lesson to him ALL THE WAY back in season 2 started the domino effect. Shoto decided to help Rei, which rallied Fuyumi. And on his path to learn and grow it inspired Endeavor to be better. Natsuo was dragged in by force for Endeavor but he stood by them all. And they all came together with the reveal of Touya being alive. One small statement snowballed EVERYTHING. And here he is ready to stand for his family, and for everyone that helped him stand on the way here.
With 2 new moves he quells what Dabi did. Freezing the entire city solid and finally putting out Dabi’s hellish fire. And Dabi passes out. (How these two managed to keep BREATHING with all the fire is beyond me. There has to be NO oxygen left in the city)
What an absolute FIRE episode. Can Touya be saved? Can this family finally heal once and for all from its past? And will Iida be any contribution to this at all? And what kind of fresh hell awaits in the other battles. This is a huge stepping stone but this isn’t over by a long shot.
The fact that toya learned all of endeavors moves from videos and memory is crazy but also tragic. Still trying to be like his dad. All moves surpass the original, with hell spider and hell minefield being more wild and destructive versions of the original. Meanwhile, shoto tries to be different, having his own moves with their own names but still using what he learned from endeavor. For example, Jet Kindling is the same move as Jet Burn, horikoshi just stated that shoto changed the name since he didnt want it to be the same as his dad. While dabi aimed to surpass endeavor to be recognized, shoto aimed to surpass his upbringing and recognize who he wants to be.

@@Kaempfdog ohhh right. Dabi has parallels to the villain Number 6 in vigilantes. Taken by afo and groomed to be a vessel. Six idolized a hero and wanted to be like him too. Even having his quitk. But dabi goes way beyond that which is why he was hard to control
FYI, freezing flames are an actual thing you can make in real-life. There are multiple videos on UA-cam and whatnot, it's just very impractical to produce for such a niche phenomenon.
one thing that it was cut off in the anime but was established in the manga, was that Overhaul was part of that same orphanage. At least in the anime, you can see in one of Overhaul's flashback that he was found as a kid by his sensei after he escaped a fire.

Its crazy how dabi still tried to be like endeavor. He copied all of endeavors moves just through videos and memory and made them his own with his firepower. He used Hell Minefield against the sidekicks, a move we see endeavor use in vigilantes.
Also, the flaming sidekicks are the best support for shot when he goes pro. Burnin can form her own flames with her hair and fly, Onima has pyrokinesis, and Kido could just control the trajectory of all his attacks.

Such a good episode, Bones cooked! Favorite part of the episode was indeed Shoto coming full circle by acknowledging it as his own power. The stylistic choice for their child selves at the end was perfect and it was an excellent choice to leave the whole endpoint silent. Awesome reaction guys, keep up the great content 👍

Can we talk about how AFO has an entire orphanage of kids that he grooms that is just so messed up
Also the fact that Dabi knew he wouldn't survive long but turned down AFO's offer of not only ensuring his body would receive treatment but that he'd get his flames back to how they were yet still refused because he wanted to go back to his family was just so sad.
Why would he be dead when Shouto's move simply neutralised his heat though? Shouto straight up says that he invented this move FOR Touya, you think he'd be using a killing move on him? 😭😂 It did exactly what he said it does - it simply cooled Touya down. Touya is out there telling Shouto that he came into this battle looking to use either him or dad to commit murdersuicide and Shouto asking him to stop should be a good hint that he's trying to *stop* him from dying.
10/10 episode. Absolute magnificent.

it not the first time we seen a man in a fedora, infact we seen the same man dropping off a young tenko at his house in shigaraki origins from the manga which was cut out the anime

Dabi's name is a Japanese word for cremation and it seems like he got close to truly embodying that name!
Isn't his quirk also called 'Cremation' in canon, or at least in the English Dub? That would be so cool because choosing his quirk's name as a name for himself would be a direct reference of how he's always been reduced to his quirk. His father wanted him to have a perfect, powerful quirk, All For One was (initially) interested in his quirk and he himself is also obsessed with his own quirk.
He's literally just his quirk (and his hatred for his family), hence 'Cremation'.
