This was really helpful! I’ve been trying to get a recommended chronological reading order for the new Canon books since I’m pretty much new to Star Wars. Thank you!
Nice! There aren’t enough channels that cover the books, so glad to see this. Catalyst and Light of the Jedi are my favorites of what I’ve read so far.
Great picks! If you haven't checked out Star Wars Lads, it's the other UA-cam Channel I'm on where we talk Star Wars three days a week. You might find some of the videos helpful!
Thank you so much for not only putting the books in order but also giving a small description of them. Do you know of any resources that have the books in order that are regularly updated with new books? Thanks, and have a great day.
Thanks for watching! I update my Canon timelines once a year. You can check out my 2023 video here: ua-cam.com/video/DK_ogKP2O2I/v-deo.htmlsi=AqDOZa2e-vKMwDGX
Honestly one of the best videos I've seen around Star Wars novels. I love that you made a visual guide of the timeline incorporating the films/shows/books. Nice touch and super helpful!
Definitely working on one right now since The High Republic Phase One just ended. Maybe I'll release it at the end of the summer right before we get into Phase 2!
Thank you for this. I haven't read a lot of the new canon material, but I think my favorite is probably either Dark Disciple, or Master and Apprentice. I'm currently reading Brotherhood, and once I'm done with that, I think I may finally crack open Aftermath. Or maybe even Lords of the Sith? I'm kinda jumping around the ones I already have, before I buy more of them.
I’m glad it was helpful! Lords of the Sith is a solid book, I’d recommend it over Aftermath. Although, Aftermath does get progressively better throughout the trilogy. Thanks for watching!
You mentioned all, but you didn't mention tabletop games. You're missing out on some awesome games if you haven't played SW Legion, Xwing miniatures game, SW Destiny. All of which can be played on TTS
Thank you so much! If you haven't checked out Star Wars Lads, that's my other channel where I talk Star Wars three days a week! I'm hoping to post more Star Wars content here too!
I'm currently beginning to wade through the seemingly endless sea of novels that is now the "legends" expanded universe and I'm very satisfied with it so far, so I probably won't be getting into the "canon" any time soon. I also just don't have any interest in anything closely associated with the sequel films, I think I'd only really be interested in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn novels and maybe one or two others; but thanks for this video anyhow, a good guide to the newer novels is always handy to have around if I ever decide to get into them. Edit: BTW, I'm your subscriber number 99, glad I could get in before your first 100!
Thank you for the support! Zahn’s Canon books are great, definitely check them out. Also, if the sequels put you off from reading Canon don’t worry, there’s only like 4 books that have anything to do with the sequels
The Story Mode. That's good to hear. Still, I'll probably wait a couple years to see how disney tries to recover the franchise and what new directions they take it in before I get started. I liked Fallen Order and Cal Kestis, I'd be down if they made some books about him.
Well the thing about the canon novels, barely any of them are connected to the sequel films. Besides the new Shadow of the Sith novel, phasma and the novelisations, there’s not very many novels during that time period. all other canon novels are either during or just after ROTJ and the OT, the prequels, or the high republic. So the good news is you don’t have to worry about novels with Rey and any of that stuff. And a lot of canon novels are brilliant
I'd love to do a Legends recommendations video too! I'm also on the UA-cam Channel - Star Wars Lads - where we talk Star Wars three days a week. Check it out! We have quite a bit of Legends content up there. Thanks for watching!
I absolutely don't want to be controversial and I'm not saying I don't like the books, but I hope Asajj Ventress will be back in the Ahsoka series. I know that he dies in one of the books, but...I don't know, it just annoys me, that certain villains don't die (or, in any case, that characters don't reappear) in a playful video work (like in the original cartoon). Because one tends to watch movies and series, and to focus on the stories shown by those. So I hope they'll adopt Asajj's final story in a live action series, like Ahsoka's.
I understand where you're coming from, but her end in Dark Disciple is so good that I wouldn't want them to retcon her death to bring her into the Ahsoka series. Many fans have been begging for the Dark Disciple animatics to get a fresh coat of Season 7/Bad Batch animation paint, and turned into a Disney+ movie. I'd love to see that!
Well Canon and Legends are technically two different timelines (think of them like separate dimensions in the Multiverse). Canon (which is what this video is about) is the timeline that is currently being referred to by all of the new movies, shows, games, books, comics, etc. Legends was the timeline made up of all books, comics, video games, etc. released prior to 2014.
You have no idea how hard it is to find a chronological order of the books, this video is a god send
I’m glad it was helpful!

Yes! I plan on getting to that video soon. Thanks for watching!

@@swlegendslore any order that ties it all together
