The reason for the large explosion could have been the half dozen anti-tank mines sitting next to the first vehicle.

The tank may have been booby-trapped when the crew abandoned it; note the presence of landmines next to the tank before the grenade is dropped inside. The explosion looks far too large for a normal ammo cookoff, but a pile of landmines inside the tank suddenly catching fire and cooking off would certainly result in quite a catastrophic detonation as we see here.
