Thank you so much for doing this sort of comparison video they are a huge benefit to those of us looking at our first foray into boating. I'm know I for one would certainly like to see more of this sort of format ( I appreciate that they are difficult to arrange. Stock availability and time being the most obvious constraints) also on a personal note I would like to say how much I've noticed the content quality and production value have improved dramatically over the last year. (Jonathon is starting to look a lot more relaxed in front of the camera and not just when talking about the oily bits lol ) on a final note if you'd like to get a first time boaters opinion on what they are like to live with for a season I'm sure I wouldn't be to ashamed to take a donation of either of these 😉😀
Andrew & Jonathon, I really appreciate this type of comparison and contrast review of these two similar boats. This review is great for seasoned boaters as well as newbies. For starters, the dash of the T29.....I don't like the gauges in the distance, but the helm/cockpit social area is a brilliant idea. The wet bar and the stow-away covers are an asset to the S28. The average person might think a small sink is enough, but I've always been a fan of the double sinks. Here, again, the S28 shines! The T29 wins in the aft cabin department. One very important issue that is resolved in the T29 is that there is full cross ventilation. Yes, the S28 technically had two (actual three) windows in the aft cabin, yet they were maybe a 4 feet apart rather than the length of the cabin. The Jack-n-Jill doors to the head are great because the aft cabin can be made ensuite, which gives a larger overall space when the bath is opened. Lastly, I appreciate the handle on the S28 to get yourself around to the side of the boat. This is a better idea than having to rely in Andrew's "muscle memory"......lol 😎 (I found that humorous because I'm a Physical Therapist). Well done guys!! Also, seeing two guys sitting down in the cabin helps to really show ceiling height and neither boat seemed too small. I grew up with a Bayliner and my stepfather was 6'5". He turned into the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
That's a great comparison between two popular boats , I was lusting after a targa 34 but it was a bit of a stretch for me , we wanted a central seating area so that discounted the 29 , we put a deposit on a cruiser yachts 330 express and apart from the access through the windscreen the boat layout is great for us 👌
Had a 2004 S28, then a C39 before getting out of boating. For my sins, now looking at getting another boat, and it's a toss up between an S29 & a T29. The S29 is 7 years newer, but has the dreaded Penta D3's! You can always rely on KADS! Great engines!
Really good review and well worth doing when you had both models available at the same time. If you ever get the chance to do a s34 and a Targa 34 that would be really good as it’s the next logical upgrade for me. Good luck selling them, I always look right when passing to see what you have for sale on the pontoon
I have to say they are both exceptional boats, i prefer the Targa but only with extra side access bars fitted and the outside radar arch bar vertical and placed higher up. i also think going forward this Targa holds its value better in any type of market, the 28 does look more homely but its starting to look a bit dated and the blue fabric doesn't do it any favours now a days. The Targa still looks modern with exception of the galley blue work tops, Targa wins aft berth every day of the week. I prefer the Targa helm position, the Targa keep the spouse far enough away she can still see you do your thing and see forward. Targa wins aft seating area, no contest there, and a bigger swim platform is nice when you might be getting on and off paddleboards or such. but the 10k cheaper s28, if i was in a position of choosing between those 2 boats, saving 10k is 10k you can spend isnt it.
Really nice comparison. We have been looking at both in some detail and you have covered nearly everything we have been discussing.

I used to love lounging on that chez on my old S28 was so comfy and i spent many days snoozing on it :)

Awesome video, as an S28 owner I’d agree with the rear cabin but, you do only sleep in it (we found)
Other than that it’s an amazing craft 😊
