Just bought one. I'm in the UK and the postage huts but nothing was going to stop me getting this. What a lovely looking razor! I have several PAA razors and they are all at the top of my list. If this beauty is as good as I know it will be, I will be a very happy camper.
PAA is indeed fantastic - I have their Meta-4 razor and have extensively tested it against my collection of more than 20 razors and it’s the absolute best razor I have ever used - even beats my Timeless and ATT razors!
wow yeah you surely have been busy congrats to your daughter getting engaged and happy birthday too your wife :) Razor looks amazing great shaving video, stay safe, cheers....Peter
In my opinion this DE razor, is one of the best mild open comp you can use .. and to my eyes, one of the most beautiful! Maybe I like this company too much ! Yes I do ! And of course, congrats to you for the great presentation.!
hi ken i'm glad you and the family are doing great, i've been DE shaving for over 2 years and not used an open comb yet but absolutely fell in love with that artifact i just hope it's not crazy money, hope you have a great evening and belated birthday wishes to your wife 🥰
I do enjoy your videos. Specially when you put on the aftershave. You're reaction is priceless every single time. One of the reasons I stay 'til the end of the video. Your stories are great too.
@Kensurfs another great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products with amazing storytelling. I'm eagerly awaiting my first razor from PAA. I'm getting an Ascension Twist-Adjustable Double Open Comb Safety Razor stainless steel, with 2 packs of Stranglest blades, sample of frost byte soap and splash, and 2 pack Ascension buffer rings. God willing it comes in a few days.
You’re a awesome fella mr ken. I just love your videos. I been looking all week waiting for a video! Have fun tonight and tell your wife I said happy birthday!! God bless!!!
Good morning Mr. Ken. Thank you again for sharing another shave video. It is always fun watching what new shave products you have. Let me share with you that I too recently purchased black shroud -let me tell you, it is freaking AMAZING! I am fairly new to DE shaving, a year this month, and new to PAA. I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to a shave with CK6. Again, to top it off the scent screams smooth, slick, and confident. Thanks again sir.
Hey Ken great shave. I can't wait to try that aftershave and soap out. My dad would always wear that original Cologne too. He is a huge Dean Martin fan. So he would always wear it. So if I can smell that scent again it would bring back a lot of good memories. Take care
Good to see you my friend. I was wondering when your new video was coming. Love the new razor you showcased. The packaging and presentation is amazing. The blue travel case looks great too. I enjoy every video you come out with. I enjoy listening to you talk. It helps relax me. I’m glad all is well. Happy birthday to your wife as well. See you next time. Josh
Lisa thanks for unboxing the Artifact, like what you said very nice, I would be interested in buying this item. Hope you and your wife enjoys her birthday surprise bye for now🍷🍹
glad to see youre still doing well ken; was just thinking last night how i havent seen a video of yours pop up in my feed for a while, and this one was waiting for me there this morning! cannonball run is such a fun movie. hope you enjoy your dinner tonight with the misses! family always comes first :)
Saw they still had the artifact in stock so I went ahead and picked one up as well as this soap with the aftershave and balm. First time trying this brand hope it lives up to the hype.👍🏻
Happy belated Birthday Mrs Ken Surfs, hope a great night was had by all especially the young lady celebrating her birthday. The only thing out of place with this shave was you didn’t use a PAA brush to make it an al PAA shave
I bet that razor would work great with PAA Rabid Banana which deserves to be a permanent scent. It's made with REAL banana oil aka nature's moisturizer, which would be really helpful in winter. It's probably helpful in fall and spring as well for those chilly days when you're still using heat. I'd even consider naming my firstborn Phoenix Banana if it becomes permanent. (Hi Doug)
Great shave. I’m doing Movember once again this year by growing a mustache. It should be a fun challenge, and also good since doing No Shave November made me miss shaving so much. I can keep shaving my face, but not the mustache for the whole month of November. Have a good one!
Nice shave Ken🪒🪒 Soap/splash combo sounds posh and knowing Doug, I expect it is dead on scent wise. The Artifact razor is quite a looker, the tortoise shell handle with the ivory base plate and gold cap come together quite nicely, packaging is over the top on this one. No issue shave and results are proof CK-6 works. Thanks for the final burn and enjoy time out on the town with the wife and family.
Thanks for the terrific review Ken. I will pick up that razor when it comes out but I might change the handle as it looks very light. I might pick up the Black Shroud set also, Sounds kinda nice. You're costing me money buddy! 🤣
As always your videos brighten up my day and week! I'm a History Geek that's why I got into Wet Shaving because when I use my Brush, Razor and not Just PAA's Homage based Soaps and AfterShaves but other Soap makers as well. It just makes me imagine what men like Dean Martin or my Grandfathers used Back in the day! It makes me feel like a Man when I Splash Vintage Old Spice on my face and Scream like a little girl lol. Take it Easy Ken!
A lot of people forget this, but Mike Meyers based Austin Powers' wardrobe and certain characters on ones from the Matt Helm series. The James Bond aspects get more attention, but you can definitely see the Matt Helm influences.
Ken, great video as usual. I noticed your bracelet and it looks very nice. I’ve actually been looking for one like for quite a while. Could you let me know where you got it and perhaps post a picture of it? Thank you very much. Thanks
Hi Ken, the Artifact is based on the Evermoist Razor. You can see the Evermoist in my Video (ua-cam.com/video/EdivmVerPh8/v-deo.html) at minute 02:43 and 36:18. Have fun! Jörg
Hey Ken your channel is awesome!! question I’m new to the wet shaving just got into it a couple months now its awesome what is the best mild blade to use?
I’d love to know how close this is to woodhue. I love PAAs After shaves. It’s funny. Some of my favorite contemporary After shaves but probably my least favorite soaps (they don’t wash off cleanly. Scummy feeling on my face after a shave). If anyone has both woodhue and this scent let me know.
I've been wet shaving for about 6 1/2 years now, and have yet to try an open comb. A true open comb, that is. I don't consider the R41 a true open comb. Having said that, is there a razor you'd recommend as the Fisher Price My First Open Comb? Something that's not super aggressive, and budget friendly?
If you are looking for something new, consider an oc razor by Fatip. If you are looking vintage then I highly recommend the vintage Gillette oc, which is generally referred to as The New. I favor the short comb variant over the long comb one. The only downside to these, IMO, is that the common bar handles are too lightweight. The top cap and base plate pair marvelously with a later solid brass ball end tech handle, or a Durham Duplex handle, or a Star DE razor handle.
Welcome back Ken & Happy Halloween!!! Yes, you had your nose in the original at the meet up! As for the Artifact, it’s all bakelite and brass with gold plate! The bottom piece has an almost tortoise shell bakelite vibe! Thanks again Ken for what you do! Now, time to find Cannonball Run! A classic!!!
Hello Douglas, thank you for reviving the razor legends from yesteryears and the stories you tell with your products. And I really enjoy your products. Beeing interested in cold war espionage I tried to find out for which razor the russian "billion dollar spy" Tolkachev for the CIA sold out his country. Just could find out that Tolkachev demanded blades from Poland as part of his payment. Still waiting for your version of a razor with a Rotbart Nr.15 head - in my opinion the best vintage razor ever. A white plastic/bakelite version with this head came out back then labeled as Rotbart and as Gillette. Even the soviets copied the head in different razors but didn't get it just right - the Temp razor produced in Ukraine was too harsh and the Leningrad razor was too mild. Douglas, could you please bring this legend back. Did you ever try the Rotbart Nr.15 and what is your opinion ?
@@DouglasSmythe Now I'm quite sure, that sooner or later there will be a PAA version of the Rotbart Nr.15. If you tried this razor, you know it. Thank You very much.
@@notreadinglol9742 no sir! It wouldn’t be the same. What makes the bakelite a phenomenal shaver is the material and weight. Doesn’t really perform the same in a heavier, different material. Also, it would be impossible to machine it due to the geometry.

The new razor looks great. PAA is my favorite artisan for sure. Lots of outstanding scents and products. Happy Halloween. Enjoy the weekend.
Always a good video Ken, was hoping for a comment on the water reservoirs/self lubricating plate?
Just tried out Woodhue. Didnt like it at first but giving it a few days of use its grown on me.
looks similar to the jfk replica which im dying to get my hands on! now i have to make a decision and just get either or.... great shave!

Great shave review Ken, , but how durable is Bakelite. I’m such a butterfinger, I’m afraid I’ll drop it and break it.

Nice shave Ken! My nose picked up baby powder and rose on the black shroud. So it was a no for me.
Great presentation by PAA for the Artifact razor, although I don't normally do that well with OC razors.👍🤠

I used the series 7 two days ago
Love an open comb!
I'm a longtime fan of the Rat Pack and that scent must be really good if Dean wore it exclusively. I might have to check that one out. Very cool.
Never used a bakelite DE razor, Ken. Do you need to add pressure to get a good, close shave to augment the lightness of it?
Cool Kensurf from California
Where's The Baconite??? Nice Shave Ken.
What's your favorite safety razor under $50? I like the one with the magnet on the bottom, but don't want to spend $80+ on one. Also, favorite blades?

I can't believe Dougie Fresh dropped these - I hope I'm not too late to get one.
