I have a friend going through the same situation with his son, but they found the car upside down in a ditch. Thankfully his son wasn't killed. May God be in your life and family. sorry to hear your still on that bumpy road, hopefully things will start to settle for you. I'd say keep your chin up but that's just a stupid saying. keep your faith, take it a day at a time. keep your battles small and manageable you will get through this in the end. I've battled depression for years and for the first time recently I've found my comfortable place. you may not see the light at the end of the tunnel but it's definately there, just sometimes a little dim and hard to see.
Hang on in there John. Bringing up kids can be difficult and heart-breaking. I respect your bravery in talking about it. I'm not religious but consider myself a humanist, and I'm glad you've found strength from within yourself and from others to be positive about life. You are not alone. Glad you're back. I think continuing to make videos will be a key part of you "working hard to be happy". You love shaving (otherwise you wouldn't have started making videos in the first place) and when times get hard and we start getting depressed I think it's important to continue to do things you love even if you don't necessary love how you're feeling at the time you're doing it.
Hey Big John... was SO RELIEVED to see you put up a video. But then heart sank to hear all you've been going thru. I've come back from the brink financially 2X in my life and had to rebuilt from scratch and it definitely is not easy. But at the same time, i also know that some of my best memories and inrpising memories came from those times that i look back on now. It's just money - money can always be made. So hang in there on the finances.. As for your son.. that is the tougher one. That discusion could take days but let me suffice my life lessons to this and hope it sparks somethign helpful in you: 1. we are never responsible for the actions of another - so we can't hold ourselves responsble for them sometimes. it is definitely not a reflection on you. 2. we can't save them all and unfortuantely some aren't saveable regardless how much yo udo. 3. the ultimate and best lesson anybody can provide to another (and often what kids learn from their parents that parents never think of) is how the parent is living themselves. they learn from example and not "lessons and words" so maybe something in that might help turn this around .. i hope your son is safe. i know someday he will understand what you did and are doing for him and apprciate that.. and ultimatelly he will understand where he went wrong. it happens to all of us. hang in there JOhn... such a relief to know you are alive and hanging in there. I was extremely worried....

John, I used to be a reckless crazy teen myself. I understand the pain you are feeling as a dad, it makes me remember the burden I laid on my father as well. I pray one day your son will be saved by god as I did when I had my first car accident. Hit head on and right into oncoming traffic. When I woke up, I was on the side of the road in a ditch. The good lord guided myself and my vehicle while I was passed out. I believe god saved me that day and I believe in god ever since.

I watered up and shuddered in viewing your podcast. It took me back. I've been there and done that. I see the pain in your face and carriage. I have empathy for you. I have experienced the same kinds of life traumas in a short period of time.It was really difficult to be PRESENT in life. I can commiserate with your feeling of hopelessness in knowing that thing were going to get worse before they getting better. It is a sobering realization. I can't really put a finger on my rock bottom. As life traumas unfolded to a resolution-win, lose or draw, I reflected upon events and outcomes and made peace. Pulling myself back to be PRESENT in life was a battle. I wasn't always successful on a daily basis but each morning I promised myself to give my best effort. I was a kind grader upon reflection at the end of the day.Sounds like your realistic about your future significant challenges and have found places to draw strength and comfort. I watered up and shuddered in viewing your podcast. It took me back. I've been there and done that. I see the pain in your face and carriage. I have empathy for you. I have experienced the same kinds of life traumas in a short period of time.It was really difficult to be PRESENT in life. I can commiserate with your feeling of hopelessness in knowing that thing were going to get worse before they getting better. It is a sobering realization. I can't really put a finger on my rock bottom. As life traumas unfolded to a resolution-win, lose or draw, I reflected upon events and outcomes and made peace. Pulling myself back to be PRESENT in life was a battle. I wasn't always successful on a daily basis but each morning I promised myself to give my best effort. I was a kind grader upon reflection at the end of the day.Sounds like your realistic about your future significant challenges and have found places to draw strength and comfort. I wish you wisdom, determination and good luck.When life is truly beating your brains in, "rope-a-dope" a round to survive the assault and reformulate a new strategy. GOD is in control . The enemy thinks he pulling his same old tricks , but GOD uses them , and he will be judged . Yes there is a power above and beyond human endurance and call it jesus or whatever name suits us, the spark of that divine is within us. We need to look within and connect to that spark within. As a species we are in grief because we have stopped connecting inwards which make us all connected to one power behind the entire universe. Connecting inwards liberates us from our Karma.
