I met Sylvester McCoy at Collectamania once. I asked him about this skit, and about whether he was aware it was fake and just playing along or not. All he did was tap his nose and say that I'll never know.
I love how he calls "Tom" by his first name. Dr Who is such a community. It would be amazing to put all the actors in a room and see what interesting conversations you'd get out of it. Unfourtunatly, that'll never happen now. :( Time can be bloody annoying when it wants to be.
I would love to see an interview with all of the actors currently alive, and by all of them I mean all of them, Tom baker, peter Davison, Colin baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul mcgann, Christopher eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter capaldi, Jodie whitaker and Ncuti gatwa

The best thing is, it's not staged. On the bonus material of the webcast/audio drama "Death comes to Time" there is an interview with Silvester McCoy and he references this very incident. He says that he really thought it was Tom^^

Actually Tom and Sylvester have been on Dr. Who panels together. You can find them on UA-cam or the BBC Dr. Who site. Knowing Tom he would of had know problem talking to Sylvester or anybody else. Looking at the way Tom interacts with the fans I think he just likes to find out about and talk to people. Hoping I meet both these gentlemen before we lose either one.
