Shot on Dzofilm Arles Primes (100mm)!
Here's another shot recreation with cinematographer Zachary Guy. This is another recreation from the show Euphoria of a party scene.
Sorry for the audio on this one everyone! It was a late night and we didn't have a mic on us. Hope it was still helpful though. Will definitely

Really great lighting breakdown to achieve a look with very little production cost! When exposing with Sony camera I find brining the EI down to say 400 for the monitors (if shooting on base 800 iso) works well so I know I’m overexposing the recoded image by a stop.
Love this kind of breakdown!
With regards to raising the levels after setting the shot up without changing camera settings - in this instance, you can boost all the lights to get +1 exposure, what would you do to increase levels in the shadow areas (the general ambience of the room) given the mix of RGB lights and a non RGB key light? would you just use a 5600K light into the ceiling or try to match the key?
These Videos are amazing and shouldn't be free! Thank you so much. 🖤 One thing I'd love to see though, would be a quick chat about Exposure, ISO, let us see the False Color for a second and talk al little more in detail about your exposure choices etc. Especially in these moody scenes which i certainly struggle with. And the editing how much do you ETTR and then pull it down in post. People can learn even more from your videos. ;) That would be so cool. Thanks again. Cheers from Hamburg, germany
Thanks for the feedback David! Definitely something well incorporate in the future breakdowns.
@@TenfoldProduction Awesome! Thank you. And thanks for the reply.
I like that you are focusing on one shot. I get overwhelmed thinking I need to recreate entire scenes and forgot it doesn’t have to be that big.
Also, I’m curious to what matter box vnd did you use? Any diffusion filters?
Did you expose to the right here? Or just used ISO 800 w the ND? I’m curious because I deal with Noise in the shadows filming “low light” scenes even when my cameras Lower Native Iso is 800. I actually found ISO 400 Exposed to the right while maintaining my contrast ratios with the light and pulled down in post to have virtually no noise.
It was, but false colour would have shown us how crushed we were in the shadows. It would have been better for us to start at 12800 iso (second base) to raise the shadows first and nd back if we needed. Ultimately it is just a matter of getting more light in the shot, which you were doing by exposing for a stop less and getting the exposure right in camera.
Wow, I'm blown away by how accurately Zachary Guy recreated the iconic party scene from Euphoria at home! His attention to detail and creative use of available lighting really brings the show's signature aesthetic to life. It's amazing to see how a skilled cinematographer can transform a ordinary space into something visually striking with the right equipment and know-how.
