I can't help but wonder what Bev thinks when Robbie tells her; "I'll be back in a couple of days, just going to an old pub with my mate" 😂 Top vid as always Robbie
Best thing about Seans bar is its a genuinely good pub. It has a bit of stuff for tourism but its still a good place for locals. Its a lot more real then most of the pubs that say they're old.
Ive been to Sean's bar many times, fantastic atmosphere on a Saturday night during the summer. Great to see Robbie and Becky enjoyed it. Dont be a stranger to Ireland, we have many many more pubs north and south that im.sure youd love! 😊
When i worked in the big smoke with a lot of irish lads, on the sites in the 80's, a lot of them pronounced it "Hatlone". But they were from all over the 32, so they had their own way of pronouncing anything. T'is very similar to my shire, the white rose county. Ya can go down the road a few miles, and they all have their own "idioms". Nice little vid, Knoxy n Becky.
I recently got into an argument with a bar man in London who said "Its a myth the Guinness tastes better in Dublin". I can vouch its no myth - great video
FYI on Beer52… it’s not free, you get signed up to a subscription and the company then make it as hard as possible to cancel. Dodgy practices for very average beer for the money. Love the vid Robbie.
@@TS-hr7nv you would think that but they make the phone call as painful as possible 😂 I was on the phone for about 30 mins because they just kept offering me deals to keep me as a customer and were being very persistent
Sawdust on the floor was actually used for mopping up the blood from bar fights , but became known for spilled beer , kinda goes hand in hand 😂great video , subbed
Solid. I want to go to Athlone now. I missed a big part of the pub's history, as I had my eyes on Becky. Robbie looks a bit like Robert Carlyle in 'Trainspotting'.
I’m sure it’s commented, but AD so 1100AD for example means “Anno Domini” Latin for “the year of our lord” But more modern and more non Tory definition means “After Death” After death meaning after Jesus died. So “BC” before Christ “AD” after death.
Robbie you have to make a trip to cork in Ireland ! The city has a great range of bars but head to the town around cork like kinsale or west cork which is absolutely beautiful! Great pints too which always helps
Hi mate. Have you been to the smallest pub in the UK? The Nutshell in Bury St Edmunds? I imagine you may have been already, seen as it's pretty local. I thought it was the smallest pub in the world, but Google says no!
You're right, I remember it and used it a lot when stationed nearby in the seventies. It was always competing for that title with a pub in Gloucester back then I think? However, I think the new "smallest" are either building conversions or purpose built, which is a bit unfair, if not cheating? As with Seán's Bar in Ireland, the Ferry Boat at Holywell, The Fighting Cocks in St Albans and Ye Olde Trip...... all in England, It all depends on the criteria?
I think you will find that the smallest pub in the UK is The Signal Box in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. As the name suggests, it use to be a signal box for the Cleethorpes miniature railway.
Four miles from me, I have another of these "Oldest pub in the world", the Ferry Boat Inn on the river Great Ouse, parts of which are sixth century (Forget all this Ye Olde rubbish). However, only a few original parts are left and It wasn't continually a "pub", hence the name. I suppose it all depends on the criteria? Used to live in St Albans too, that's got another oldest pub claim, the Fighting Cocks, another spurious claim? Brilliant pub for Ale though. If I stuck a bar in the middle of Stonehenge, would that make it the oldest? I think "Seán's Bar", probably has it as the oldest recorded continual pub?
So I've been to Ireland about 12 times .. this time I spent most of my time in my dad's part which is westmeath... I went to Sean's bar... I was not expecting this.. I was hoping for something a little bit more ehhhh idk older lol. Once I saw the bright blue paint on the building I knew ... I was honestly expecting something more ehh. 900 AD like 😅😅 but anyway we found the craic😉
@robbieknox if you want another trip to Ireland, come down to cork you can fly direct from London and you can visit the smallest pub in Ireland! it’s tiny and we only manage one drink in there once a year for our 12 pubs of Christmas !
I actually live for Robbie and becky videos. Please do a European tour of pubs one day!
@franciscoybighartson8854 they work in the same Industry. Its like working with older people at a normal work environment
I can't help but wonder what Bev thinks when Robbie tells her; "I'll be back in a couple of days, just going to an old pub with my mate" 😂 Top vid as always Robbie
There is absolutely nothing I want more in life then to go to the pub with Robbie and Becky 😌
One day Megan.
I live in the deep dark depths of the West Country and the pubs here are interesting… to say the least. Very traditional and great cider though!
As I'm also from the west country I would happily volunteer to tag along!😅😅
Robbie, love the connection between you and Becky. Another enjoyable video. Cheers.
Fantastic eye contact held by the Knox
Looking into people’s souls.
Best thing about Seans bar is its a genuinely good pub. It has a bit of stuff for tourism but its still a good place for locals. Its a lot more real then most of the pubs that say they're old.
Agreed. It felt like a museum in the day and a proper locals pub in the evening.
Ive been to Sean's bar many times, fantastic atmosphere on a Saturday night during the summer. Great to see Robbie and Becky enjoyed it. Dont be a stranger to Ireland, we have many many more pubs north and south that im.sure youd love! 😊
Love how informative all these vids are it’s super cool to learn about!
what an absolute duo, love becky what a legend❤
Cheers Lucy.
Great video Robbie! Lovely to see you guys enjoy your stay here in Athlone!
I love Robbie's pronunciation of Athlone ❤ love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Am I getting it wrong?
@@RobbieKnox not wrong, just different to Irish pronunciation. We should change to your way.
We pronounce it more like Ahhhloan 😂
When i worked in the big smoke with a lot of irish lads, on the sites in the 80's, a lot of them pronounced it "Hatlone". Met Becky at Isle Of Wight festival, what a great person, and this is a great duo!
Ha first song playing in the pub is 'Come Out Ye Black and Tans.'
A good way to think about it
In 900 AD Seans Bar is founded
Then after that some town called Athlone was built around it
Love this!
Great video Robbie! Love your collabs with Becky
Thanks champ!
Sawdust on the floor was actually used for mopping up the blood from bar fights , but became known for spilled beer , kinda goes hand in hand 😂great video , subbed
Aye, the beer was a lot stronger in the days of yore, Watcher. ( Not the "small beer", obv.)
Sean's is just down the road from my partner's hometown in Ireland. Small and stupendous world we live in hey!
Amazing video, loved it. Btw 6:35-6:40 is a great drunk stare from Robbie 😂
I live in Galway, glad you got to visit our shores and had a great time. You both are a great youtube couple. Enjoy! 😀
My Irish home is in Cìll Rónáin. I love County Galway.
I could listen to Timmy talk about this pub all day
Great video. I love Sean's bar
Me too!
what an incredible video and duo couldnt of asked for more for a Thursday afternoon watch :)
Love your channel! New subscriber, real feelgood!
Awesome, glad you’re enjoying it!
Best duo on UA-cam can’t wait for the next one with you 2 together
The best father - daughter booze trips ever
That’s very much the vibe.

I hope to have as good a friendship as Robbie and Becky have one day
You know if you went to the pub with these two you’d have a brilliant night. Great vid - more like this please!!
Hmmm am wondering if that reflects well or poorly on the Irish ? Building a town around a pub and a Ford is a bit extreme.
I’m sure it’s commented, but AD so 1100AD for example means “Anno Domini” Latin for “the year of our lord”
But more modern and more non Tory definition means “After Death”

i love the unofficial robbie and becky pub series
Try the Ye old trip to Jerusalem in Nottingham UK.... Don't forget to play hook the bull when you visit ...
Wonder how much a pint was when it opened
Probably barter economy back then. One sheep = one pint and some scampi fries.
you two need a series though, get it done!
I'm a simple man, I see Robbie and Becky, I watch the video. Simple
wolfe tones on is the sign of a class bar tbf
Dad takes daughter to the pub learns about history. 😂
I bet Nigerian Guinness is good. That’s another trip on the bucket list.😂
The crosskeys in Woolstone milton keynes is pretty old..a few hundred yrs at least..
happy to be here
The Slainte at the end hahahahahaha that was Muck @ Becky
Love this duo
Yay more of these
Need you 2 to do a European tour of some of the most renowed pubs around for sure!
Love drunk Robbie and Becky videos 😂

Technically their was a pub on that site for that long. The current building wouldn't be that old.
fair play to Timmy for not even a split second glance at Becky’s chebs. A stronger man than I am
@RobbieKnox such great content.A true escape from all the toxicity on UA-cam😊
of course, it was in Ireland xD
Joe Wilkinson Racheal Riley vibes tbh
Malaysian Guinness is pretty good.
There is nothing like having a pint or two in a real Pub…
