    I finally got myself one, nowhere near as cheap as this one, but it's everything I've ever wanted from a Strat and more, so it was well worth. It's got that glassy, Hendrix neck pickup tone in bucket loads.

    i have 2006 one of these with the "ay" pickups. its best guitar ive ever had. miles better than any of the american standard strats ive had. honestly think just as good as the 50s reissue us strats i played in guitar shop too. l the tremolo honestly never goes out of tune no matter what you do. the neck is great. amazing build quality. only paid 400 (260 quid) canadian about 4 years ago too. !st guitar ive ever owned that i will never sell.

    Just picked one of these up off Reverb to go along with my Baja Tele that I've had for years. These particular MIM's are buy-it-for-life guitars. Just make sure you're buying the Rosewood version. I believe Fender switched to Pau Ferro toward the end of it's run. This can easily be verified via Fender's Serial Number Lookup website.

    Love the demo dude!
    I've been saving up for a Mexican strat for an year now and going to pull the trigger this month end. Is the truss rod adjustment on this guitar easy since it is in the butt side? I saw people complain about it on the forums online. Will I have to take the neck off everytime I want to adjust it? I absolutely love the way the Classic Player 60 sounds but don't want the truss rod adjustment to be a pain in the ass

    • @mastertheguitar
      @mastertheguitar  6 років тому +1

      There are ways round it, like using a long smaller blade screwdriver but there's not much space to manoeuvre. Another trick is to loosen the screws at the back, the pair closer to nut a little whilst the other two loosened a bit more to get the angle for a screwdriver to get in there. FYI I've only adjusted mine once since I got it, pretty stable neck. :)

    • @vivekteega
      @vivekteega 6 років тому

      mastertheguitar - Aah! I think I'll do that. I stay in Mumbai, India where the weather is pretty humid. So the necks warp a lot. I think I'll go for the CP 60 anyway, not aware of any other good strat in that price range with that tone. The alternative( Deluxe strats) have fat headstocks look ugly imo. Thanks for the prompt reply :)

I’ve wondered about my CP60 as I have a Pau Ferro board on my custom Suhr, it looks very much like Pau Ferro but specs for the time would state Rosewood (note not stating African or Indian) wondering if they were just using that general term for Pau Ferro.

      I've not seen any mention that they are any different from the pickups in the original models. TBH it's probably just bad spec writing ;)

    • @orlfane1622
      @orlfane1622 8 років тому

      Thanks for your response. I just picked up this guitar new in the same color today . Partly because of your video so thank you for that. I'm definitely going to have to do the same mods that you did. I can't stand the fact that the bridge pick up has no tone control . Other than that the guitar really is flawless I can't believe the quality of the neck. Very smooth rolled edges you can barely feel the Frets. Seems a bit pricey for a Mexican made guitar but the quality really does rival the American Standard. I suspect that Fender must have their best people in the Mexican plant working on these guitars . I sold off a 65 vintage reissue that I didn't bond with that cost almost triple the cost of this guitar and I can honestly say there really isn't much difference . Trem block, tone mod and maybe a real bone nut (not sure yet) and I'm done . The one other thing I'm not sure about are the electronics do you know if they are quality US electronics or are they the cheaper Mexican electronics.

    It is not 12 inch but 9,5. It is not 7,5 as the most vintage are. I had the same gitar years ago. It is a nice guitar and the neck is very good, too. It is flat but not so flat as Gibsons are.
