  • Historian Stephen Brumwell discussed his book, Turncoat: Benedict Arnold and the Crisis of American Liberty, in January 2020 as part of the Museum of the American Revolution's Read the Revolution Speaker Series. The book and discussion trace Benedict Arnold’s journey from a once-ardent hero of the Revolutionary cause to its most dishonored traitor.

I just watched this on C-Span and enjoyed the presentation. I'm delighted to discover this UA-cam channel for the museum and look forward to many binge viewing sessions ahead!

    I enjoyed this thank you!
Interesting take on why the British didn't hang Washington and the signers of the DOC though. I'm thinking it was less, " the bonds of the mother country and her erring colonial children were still too strong." and more that the British lost the war. Rather hard to hang men who are no longer your subjects.
