Thanks so much for watching! Now you tell me, do you accept compliments like a boss or are you still feeling awkward when you receive one? P.S. Really great tips. As a massive introvert I've always felt pretty awkward with complements but I've learnt to have my 'business' mindset/hat on which really helps. As and example, I've had so many customers complement the decor in our new bar (after my staff point out I designed it) and my go to response is '"Thank you, I really wanted 'insert specific' feel and to make it a comfortable, welcoming place so I'm really pleased you're enjoying it". It gets a conversation going which gives me extra feedback while making them feel like I had them personally in mind when creating it. I find using the complement to ask questions and make the person feel involved gives it value for both parties.
I am normally on the receiving end of the awkwardness. LOL! I was that person years ago and see the warning signs of someone who is not as self assured. Thank you Tara for sharing this. Your advice/tips is how I begin my mornings with meditation and gratefulness. 💕 You Rock!!
I hate how ppl, especially men like giving innapropriate comments. I don't get why they do it. Do they actually think it's a genuine compliment or are they actually trying to make me uncomfortable? And if the latter, why? It can be really upsetting especially when i'm proudly showing my work and they decide to catch me off guard with that nonsense 😬 I work in the pharma industry and its prevalent everywhere. By the way great video! Informative, helpful and straight to the point.
It’s a great question and there are as many answers as there are humans. Because as people our underlying motivators are always more complex and nuanced than we like to label them. Labels are quick, easy, and tend to mean we don’t need to do the underlying work to really understand people. But you can know this - unless there is a serious mental pathology which is rarer than we like to accuse lol - every single behavior (including comments that are inappropriate to one or more parties) are done in an attempt to meet legitimate human needs, and often out of habit. When we try to understand the need vs the behavior our entire relationship to that person changes. We can connect with them, request a change in behavior, and actually get it because we’re talking to their needs vs from our frustrations. (This is obviously scratching the surface of a much deeper convo lol but maybe it helps a bit?)
Hey Tara, You've changed up your style of delivery. Very engaging:) Are you doing Sunny's school? Feels very similar to her. Would love to know what you think:)
I've been doing her style all along but I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of it and really finding my groove and maintaining my voice while talking to a lens. 😂😂😂
