I have 3 sons who were all military at one time. During the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan I prayed this prayer so many times. I stumbled on this song by Luke Evans and was so moved. God has given him a wonderful talent.

My dad loved lukes version after i played it to him last year, and so i had to have it played at his funeral in july,he went nine months with lung cancer. It broke me he was my best mate

I love this song, it is a perfect showcase for a voice, plenty of room for the notes to really live and breathe, and Luke renders it beautifully. It's a studio rendition, so none of the high drama that a theatre might require, but fills this space with his lovely clear tone. Delightful

My Son died and I wish it had been me, would gkadly haven given my life in exchange for his. The pain of his loss is overwhelming. There is no closure, it's just a made up word. If you haven't lost a child you have no idea what its like. I don't say this for my pain, but for my Son's who felt so desperate he took his own life, died alone and as his Mother, I wasn't there, couldn't save him from the pain he must have been feeling.
