You guys are 100% correct that Billlie is an underrated but super talented group! The reason they remind you of early Red Velvet is because Mystic Story is a subsidiary under SM and Billlie is their first group. They've got a lot of confusing lore (ex. the one eyed bunny) that I'm not even sure I understand, but it's really unique to them an gives Billlie a life of their own outside of all the popular kpop groups right now. Their b-sides are also really good too, I swear fl!pping a coin is better than the title tracks other groups put out. Love the reaction!
The quote at the beginning is from Jung. He wrote about the collective unconscious. Some believe that Billlie can cross over to other dimensions aka the strange world. 🙂
Billlie is another group with lore, and their title tracks and even some B-sides are heavily leaning on it. They have several lore videos out so far but tl;dr: Did you hear the story about Billlie Love? On the 11th day when summer is coming to an end a fearsome monster comes and takes someone to the other side of the world. Billlie Love disappeared, and even though her friends were warned, they did nothing, then lied and said they didn't know her. Now ashamed and miserable, they decide to do something about it, go search for her in the other world, the world everyone has inside them, the B-side. Bi-11-lie.
Their debut song RINGxRING was very very weird. Some people hated it, but I find it is intentionally made to induce anxiety, the same anxiety that the girls are feeling in the lore. I thought it was genius; I am looking forward to seeing what you make of it. But they have great variety in their so far very short discography; for example, Snowy Night shows off their vocals so well on top of being a fun self-contained spoopy Christmas story, and Flipp!ng a Coin is just a bop.
Speaking of RINGxRING, they actually started off as a 6-member group, since one of their co-trainees, now known as Sheon (pronounced as Sean or Shawn) was on Girls Planet 999. She got eliminated in the finals (10th, when winners were the first 9!), and then immediately joined Billlie just weeks after their debut. Unfortunately, too late to get on their first album. Yes, they will agree, 7 is better :)
Also, "the girl in pigtails"... there are several members in this video who at various times have pigtails but I assume you were talking about Tsuki, one of their main dancers. Besides standing out by doing a breakdance move, she's a hoot, her fancam of this song went viral for Reasons, and she's a comedic genius on variety shows. I suggest watching their Silence of Idol episode, and Billlie's Ginga Minga School Life :D

I am literally so in love with this group its unreal. GingaMingaYo translates to a slang term that translates to uncertainty, being unsure of something, or yourself. "It could be this, but it also could be that" sort of thought. Dreamcatcher and Red Velvet are my two ult. Girl Groups right now but Billlie is REAL close, along with LOONA, PIXY, and Purple Kiss. You get Red Velvet vibes because Mystic Story is a subsidiary of SM.

Why do I say kawaii instead of aegyo? Because she was a Jpop idol in Magicour briefly (Taru chan in Magic MV) before joining this company.

I've been warming to Billlie over the last few weeks; they're the first act at a festival I'm going to in London on Saturday. When I first got the tickets I'd barely heard of them (the main draws for me were Pentagon and Red Velvet), but since properly checking them out, they're one of the ones I'm most looking forward to now! 😁

2021 was _the_ year for rookie girl groups. Pixy, Purple Kiss and Billlie all came out of the gate super strong and they've been shaking things up ever since. Sadly Pixy and Billlie are, as you've noticed, aren't getting as much attention as they deserve because they're all from small or mid tier companies. I wouldn't necessarily call them 'underrated' because everyone seems to go all in for them once they discover them, but they are certainly over looked by the majority of kpop enthusiasts.
Speaking of underrated / overlooked, I think it's time for you to delve into one of my favorite soloists who also falls into that category. Her name is AlexA and she is unlike any other kpop soloist I've seem. She's from a very small company (she's their only artist) called ZB Label. She's super talented, super cool and, in her videos, super badass. Off camera she's like the nicest person you'll ever meet. And boy can she dance. And, to top it all off, like Dreamcatcher, Pixy and all the rest of the groups you've discovered recently, her MV's are full of lore. The difference here though, is that her lore is sci fi oriented, centered about artificial intelligences, alternate worlds and so on. Oh, and did I mention that she does her own stunts.
Anyway, do yourself a favor and check her out. You won't be disappointed. Her debut track is Bomb, followed by Do or Die, Villain and Revolution. There's more but that's a good place to start. If you decide to check her out we can get into her backstory and all that other fun stuff.
