I think i like the mv. My concern is not about the shoot of the mv but the quality of the camera they were using. I know it was not big budget mv that's why but the camera they using is exactly how you see in live performance. I hope they put some filter to tone it down so it will feel like a movie just like what the actually mv intended to be.
The MV has more like a J-rock vibes, since they're using the same set (almost the whole video) and the clothes colors fill the rest of the image alongside with the edition cuts.
Honestly, I LIKED the M/V, it was nice but it didn't show a lot of the storyline which I was extremely hyped about when I was watching their pre debut stuff before they officially debuted. I mean, it's also my bad that I put my expectations on the M/V a bit too high but yeah, the vibrant colours suit this song and the dazzling works pretty well. Also, I think the low quality camera kinda works for some reason. The song is amazing, just that the song is kinda muffled but I for some reason think it suits the story in a way? Though I would love to hear a version where it's not muffled to feel it a bit more lol. Also, I'm sure that it was because of the budget. Let's make them grow and watch then grow as well!

The moment I first heard this song start, I just KNEW it was a lock for you guys to react to. It's so different and interesting, and it sets itself well apart from the rest of the current K-Pop scene by taking a distinctly J-Pop approach. Yes, exactly! Pulling more from a side of J-Pop no other K-Pop group has done (while Dreamcatcher/GFRIEND has pulled more from the J-rock/anime OST side of J-pop)
Maybe because Billlie is Brown Eyed Girls' little sisters, maybe because Billlie has producers that actually know how to work with them to make the girls shine, maybe because ring x ring remind me of Faky's discography or maybe because Billlie has that it factor. Anyways, I love that you have place an ear on them. Easily one of the faves of the year.

Billlie reminds me so much of f(x) in how weird and tonally different their music was compared to everything else releasing at the same time as them. The alarm ringing sound has the same effect as the ringing in rum pum pum pum. I've waited so long for a group that was just different enough to bring back the cool and innovative sounds f(x) used to bring to the conversation of kpop, and it looks like Billlie is up to the task!

I'm not a music person in the traditional sense. I couldn't tell you a G from an F, but you guys still managed to put into words what it is that caught me about Ring x Ring when I first listened to them. Especially when the PD said that she can't connect their sound to a previous group/debut. There's something special about Billlie!
As a singer, this song was incredible with the layering and chord progressions in the voices. It scratches an itch for a new sound that still makes it pleasant to hear once you give it a few rewatches.
Hope u listened to the whole EP. I really enjoyed all the songs. They aren’t as “experimental” as the title song, but the production and the composition in general is pretty fun.
Lee Minsu has also written songs for groups like Brown Eyed Girls, Sunny Hill, and History. If you listen, you can hear his distinct style. My personal favorite is The Grasshopper Song by Sunny Hill. 😊
What’s interesting is that it’s often mentioned how the song had this uneasiness or no sense of “comfort”, which makes complete sense knowing the story and lyrics of the song. The song refers to a missing girl and Billlie’s lore regarding their relationship to the girl and their missing memories, so it makes sense that the song felt unresolved or eerie in a way. I absolutely love when songs are thematically related to the lyrics as well!
It’s more of an abstract piece rather than a electronic hype piece. If you’ve ever listened to Japanese pop or any of their sounds it’s very close that and they have Japanese members so maybe they were going for that.
Lee Minsu is the best producer in kpop and nobody talks about him. He doesn't have a single bad song on his record. He's super smart musically and is fr forging new grounds every time he produces something. Super unique songs. He produced most Brown Eyed Girls songs like Sixth Sense, Abracadabra, Brave New World, IU's songs such as Good Day, You&I and The Red Shoes, many Sunny Hill songs such as The Grasshopper Song and Midnight Circus, soloist Minseo's The Grand Dreams and ZERO, almost Gain title tracks (Irreversible, Bloom, Truth or Dare, Paradise Lost, Carnival), Narsha's Mamma Mia and of course Ring x Ring. He is truly a mad man, listening to songs he produced for the first time always makes my jaw drop. I am crossing my goddamn fingers he's gonna feature on Billlie's upcoming EP because I NEED more music made by him.
This song is so good. A new sound and style is always welcome. It mess with a lot of element and the chaotic of it make it so amazing. I love it so much.
Thank god you guys reviewed this. I was going crazy with some non-musicians reviews that it was jarring without giving context to what the group was trying to convey which I personally think is the desperation/confusion over losing a good friend in mysterious/tragic circumstances. And good on Umu for noting the uniqueness of the Billlie sound. I read someone describe this song as an Alfred Hitchcock soundtrack if Hitchcock made a movie today. Thank you, ReacttotheK!
9:46 this chord is so beautiful, I've heard that on Billage Chapter 2, especially the orchestral part on that video.. That was amazing! If you watched Billage Chapter 2, that orchestral part is actually RING X RING. It's just that majestic yet eerie.. Props to Lee Minsu.
I remember the day this MV dropped and my eyes and ears were glued to the screen for the duration. I dont even remember breathing I was so transfixed. I cant think of a single other Kpop song/MV in recent memory that has grabbed me quite the way this one did and I am so impressed with Ring x Ring as a debut track for Billlie.
I'm so happy you reacted to this track. It's such an unusual debut, but definitely on par with the massively hyped Aespa or Ive. The whole mini-album follows the same pattern - soundscapes and styles and beautiful harmonies that you just wouldn't expect to hear. It actually reminds me of very early F(x); electronic, experimental, but amazing vocals and catchy songs.
I can relate a lot with the guy at 19:10, I do feel the same too like it's not heading to anywhere. It's very interesting to see them react to this song because this song is really really unique and with their professional input I can finally understand the chords better.
Finally got around to listening to this group last night and now here's this video. A coincidence? Yes. An extremely welcome coincidence? Yes! Awesome breakdown of the most unexpectedly great debut of the year
I knew you would react to this song! It is so jarring yet so cool, it was really nice to listen to opinions from fellow colleagues. I'm really intrigued of what this group has in store for us.
This is what i'm here for! THE MUSICAL DETECTIVE WORK! I love how everyone was trying to figure out WHY it feels good to listen to! BILLLIE HAD US ALL!!!
I've been anticipating this video since Billlie debuted. I hope that they'll continue to keep us on our toes with different sounds and a unique story. It's about time we get something really different in kpop
when people think this song is bad and messy, for some reason I like this song. At first I heard it was weird, but I'm addicted to listening to this song
I just- like- what- I noticed that in the intro the church bell rings nine times - and in the outro it rings two more times, making it eleven I’m; holy shit that gave me goosebumps
12:18 omg i didnt know i need piano version of this song, like umu said it so satisfying and feel emotional! ps : can you guys make the full of piano version :D
Called this song out on the React Pateron on Nov. 20 and you were 3 steps ahead of me. Knew you and your crew would absolutely love it. We were really on the same wavelength with recognizing a song that hasn't really been done before. This was probably the reaction I was looking forward to most of the recent releases (maybe all of 2021).
I knew it the moment Billlie debut with Ring x Ring, ReacttotheK would have a blast with this song ! Absolute banger, their bside also have no skip songs ! As a Red Velvet fan I'm in love with Billlie songs and their discography so far, i hope umu would react to their debut album and newest single "snowy night" :)
ringxring is a chilling bop. i am haunted at the club and somehow i end up in the alleyway smoking a cigarette and eating a sweet candy while my friends pat me on the back. sad and nostalgic, but like, wish the promise of things maybe being okay in the future.
It’s strange to see some of the reactors paired differently than usual! Interesting to see different dynamics when they’re reacting. Great video as always!
I loved the reactions and the breakdowns of the music and chords. The explanations of why the composition is completely different, experimental, slaps you in the face, bolder than what you normally expect from a KPOP song. Your reactions mirror what I felt when I heard this song. WTF is this! This is something I would expect from a different genre of music. Nothing in this song is easy to listen to the first time. But being a Jazz and Classical music listener, this song hit me hard and made me listen and then sit gobsmacked at the last note and think to myself, 'This is KPOP?'
I swear that first part of the chorus sounds like a Namie Amuro song (and whoever is singing it LITERALLY sounds like her). I'll come back to this in like 8 weeks when I finally find it.
Not only was this song produced/composed well but the girls are so talented. They delivered this perfectly. I can always appreciate a great ensemble of people who have strong vocals!
this might be my favorite reaction video so far from you guys! the way everyone was trying to figure out the parts of the song on the piano was so interesting to watch
ahhh finally! ever since billlie debuted I hoped for a reaction from you all! I've been following mystic rookies for quite some time and this debut didn't disappoint me at all. it definitely did go into a direction I didn't expect them to go but the whole mini album is full of songs with different concepts! ring x ring is probably the most unique one and it was quite a choice to debut with a song like this AND make it a title track but at the same time it is so so refreshing!
From the first second I listened to this song, I was obsessed with this song! And ever since it grew on me even fucking more honey this is my fav debut song of the whole year!
This is a genius piece. This song is specifically more of a J-Wave, so it's natural if it sounds unfamiliar to K-Poppers ears, I think the "closest" to this kind of atmosphere in K-Pop are Dreamcatcher and Pixy, BUT, if you listen to their album more deeply, their discography so far very similar to their older sister.. Red Velvet sunbaenim.
Here's some funny moments I found while they were reacting. "*creepily, 3, 2, 1. Scary, she's scary" 2:43 "Oh My God, she's so kawaii" 2:56 "stairs. ah-oh?" 3:17 "What? Tr-Tritones?! Oh NO.. Why do I feel the devil in me?"3:20 "where's tonal center, i can't find it" 3:49 "They like G a lot even though it's not in G Major, D Major?! 4:00 "That's Major! Here's Do *Holding tonal centre. please don't leave me ... it's gone." 4:18 "woah, new mixture. Interesting. It fees like like "The cold never bothered me" 5:16 "April Fools" 5:26 "Carol of the bells? Oh they repeated it. they doubled down *speaker sounds" 5:56 "OH NO! IT ENDS IN G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 6:34 "Billie's Back? maybe? Don't go towards the light, oh she's dead" 6:45 "She's dead? Yeah, they made her a box" 6:51 Reply if you found anything else I could add! This song is hyper, and it's pop, but it has nothing to do with the hyperpop movement, not even close." 21:16
if you guys feel like another interesting song of theirs is everybody’s got a $ecret! they did another similar thing in the beginning like they did with carol of the bells in ring x ring
I absolutely LOVE this song, it’s one of the best debuts for me. The mysterious feeling along with the vocal tone and the lyrics “is she dead dead?” “is it blood blood?” All just give me such a fantasy vibe. The dance is so fitting and not to mention how CATCHY it is. I know it might sound weird and messy to others but to me it’s literally so unique to them and their concept. 🤩🤩🤩😮💨
I found them very interesting. Their debut album is really great. And I also loved Snowy Night, their second release. That was more traditional sounding but has a twist that makes atracting as well. I'm so excited with this group already.
YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THEIR BSIDE especially Everybodys got a secret they sample dance of the sugar plum fairy and have some weirdd ass modal changes I was LIVINGGGG
One of my favorite episodes of ReacttotheK and I honestly love all the content, especially Dreamcatcher, Pixy, and Cacophony. It was wonderful to watch all the musicians sort of uncover the depths of the song by excavating the constant shifts of the song, genuinely enjoyed that. That and Billlie and their first album are absolutely amazing, one of my favorite debuts this year.
I hope ReacttotheK can do another reaction to this album's bsides bcs the bsides are great and have different genres for each song, anyways thanks for making a reaction vid to this masterpiece!
I think this song was mixed badly for performance on kpop music shows... I watched them perform it for weeks and the lead synth line was so prominent and just grating on my ears. Once I started listening to it on Spotify and a proper speaker (not my TV), I finally appreciated it. The rest of the mini album is pretty interesting too, I'm looking forward to more from Billlie!
The first time I heard this music, they sounded very foreign to me and even sounded strange. But over time I really like this song because the instruments sound mysterious and the concept they bring is different from other kpop groups, this is what I really need
I feel like I’ve been waiting a million years for this reaction! I’m so happy to watch this. Billlie really stole my heart with this debut. I had no idea what to think initially, but there was something about how different it is, and the urgency, intensity, creepiness with that hint of something happier (hope? victory?) that just grabbed me and it very quickly became a song that I just loved. I love how unapologetically weird and bold it is, and that there isn’t any other group with this sound. It feels like a wonderful mix of Dreamcatcher, Red Velvet and Jpop combined. Also you read the lyrics it makes the song hit that much harder. I’m not usually one for creepy horror stuff but it’s totally intriguing!
I keep coming back to this song and im so glad this review exists so i can make some sense of why this is so amazingly special... like I know it's different musically from a lot of what Ive heard in the industry, but the theory explanations are the best
their vocal progression in the chorus reminds me of some rina sawayama retro house songs tbh thats the only sound i could compare it to, no other kpop group or anything
Billlie is one of 2021's most underrated K-Pop girl groups. The concept of RING X RING isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's honestly a masterpiece. Moreover, the whole Billage of Perception tracklist is a great combination of flavors and showcases all of the members vocal power. Honestly one of the best and most unique concepts ever.

That's such an amazing song. Nice to see that he also made this one!
Songs like this are the reason I study music. It was a lot of fun watching them break this song down.
YESSS
FINALLY FINALLY I WAS WAITING FOR THIS😭😭😭the music analysis for this song is insaneeee
This mini album took me my surprise! Definitely play them on the show. So many great new girl groups now. Almost overwhelming!
This came faster than expected, specially for a smallish agency debut but I’m GLAD ITS HERE
mystic isn't small, it's a subsidary of sm if I'm not mistaken :)
Ring X Ring is sooooo experimental and I LOVE IT!!!! The mini album is one of the best albums that have dropped this year.
Ring ring is my favorite debut bc im a sucker for interesting and weird progressions, and the song feels emotional and urgent
12:41 makes me think Ring by Ring would make a great ballad. The melody of the chorus is driven by the vocals, so it makes sense 💖
Billlie has such a unique music color and vibe with their debut
Hoping this style gets more popular in Korea !
when people think this song is bad and messy, for some reason I like this song. At first I heard it was weird, but I'm addicted to listening to this song
it’s hypnotic
I just- like- what- I noticed that in the intro the church bell rings nine times - and in the outro it rings two more times, making it eleven I’m; holy shit that gave me goosebumps
12:18 omg i didnt know i need piano version of this song, like umu said it so satisfying and feel emotional!
ps : can you guys make the full of piano version :D
Me uno a este pedido, need it so bad 🤍
I absolutely LOST IT at 4:23 "please don't leave me" *leaves*
This song is...like...interpretive dance for the ears. That's all I can think to describe it!
ringxring is a chilling bop. i am haunted at the club and somehow i end up in the alleyway smoking a cigarette and eating a sweet candy while my friends pat me on the back. sad and nostalgic, but like, wish the promise of things maybe being okay in the future.
RING X RING takes you on a magical journey. That's the best way I could describe it.
EXACTLY I WAS SO HOOKED AT FIRST LISTEN im so glad you guys did a reaction bcs i couldn't tell whats going on
I really enjoyed Billlie's debut, i think this channel's gonna have a blast reacting to this group :)
I swear that first part of the chorus sounds like a Namie Amuro song (and whoever is singing it LITERALLY sounds like her). I'll come back to this in like 8 weeks when I finally find it.
Fashionista maybe?
you didn't come back in 8 weeks :(
@@systemsafadown her music isn’t on streaming anymore 😭
@@Giakovo oh that's the worst thing that could happen to a listener 😭
The more I listen to this, it’s so cool and well composed
Lots of great moving parts
Not only was this song produced/composed well but the girls are so talented. They delivered this perfectly. I can always appreciate a great ensemble of people who have strong vocals!
Thanks for reaction. For me this is the most interesting debut song in 2021
this might be my favorite reaction video so far from you guys! the way everyone was trying to figure out the parts of the song on the piano was so interesting to watch
This is such a crazy cool song! Thanks for always being on top of the new groups.
(I’m not ready for the Young K reaction video. 😭)
ahhh finally! ever since billlie debuted I hoped for a reaction from you all!
Thanks so much for such a amazing reaction!! I don't really like the MV but I absolutely love this song, so I'm pretty invested in the group now :')
Red Velvet sunbaenim.
its funny, ive seen quite a few ppl compare them to dreamcatcher, and them and billlie are my ults. i also love jrock lol
Here's some funny moments I found while they were reacting.
"*creepily, 3, 2, 1. Scary, she's scary" 2:43
"Oh My God, she's so kawaii" 2:56
"stairs. ah-oh?" 3:17
"What? Tr-Tritones?! Oh NO.. Why do I feel the devil in me?"3:20
"where's tonal center, i can't find it" 3:49
"They like G a lot even though it's not in G Major, D Major?! 4:00
"That's Major! Here's Do *Holding tonal centre. please don't leave me ... it's gone." 4:18
"woah, new mixture. Interesting. It fees like like "The cold never bothered me" 5:16
"April Fools" 5:26
"Carol of the bells? Oh they repeated it. they doubled down *speaker sounds" 5:56
"OH NO! IT ENDS IN G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 6:34
"Billie's Back? maybe? Don't go towards the light, oh she's dead" 6:45
"She's dead? Yeah, they made her a box" 6:51
Reply if you found anything else I could add!
This song is hyper, and it's pop, but it has nothing to do with the hyperpop movement, not even close." 21:16
I really love 21:16. "This song is hyper, and it's pop, but it has nothing to do with the hyperpop movement, not even close."
This song gave me fire for working my collage tasks
I feel like you should also check out their b-side “Everybody’s got a Secret”
if you guys feel like another interesting song of theirs is everybody’s got a $ecret! they did another similar thing in the beginning like they did with carol of the bells in ring x ring
That and Billlie and their first album are absolutely amazing, one of my favorite debuts this year.
this editing is giving me life i dont think ive laughed this hard on a reaction vid yet ever despite being a noob with musical language
I loved Ring x Ring from the getgo
I love this debut! Thanks for breaking it down everyone☺️ (also the editing was great haha)
I hope ReacttotheK can do another reaction to this album's bsides bcs the bsides are great and have different genres for each song, anyways thanks for making a reaction vid to this masterpiece!
i cant be the only one who hears rina sawayama in this song LIKE????
I think this song was mixed badly for performance on kpop music shows... I watched them perform it for weeks and the lead synth line was so prominent and just grating on my ears. Once I started listening to it on Spotify and a proper speaker (not my TV), I finally appreciated it. The rest of the mini album is pretty interesting too, I'm looking forward to more from Billlie!
This song made me appreciate quality mixing 😹 previously I didn't quite understand what is it about...
kinda think it was deliberately mixed weirdly, kinda to match the grating instrumental
OMG a thousand kudos to Umu for the editing on this video.. amazing work :)
I love seeing the looks on you alls faces when music surprises you. Also really fun to watch you work it out musically.
this video has awakened my need for a ring x ring jazz/ piano cover omg
The way this debut BLEW me away
Yay! I’m so happy you guys reacted to this! This song is so cool and I STILL can’t stop listening to it!
The first time I heard this music, they sounded very foreign to me and even sounded strange. But over time I really like this song because the instruments sound mysterious and the concept they bring is different from other kpop groups, this is what I really need
THANK YOUUUUU !!!! This is literally what I've been waiting for all week. your analysis never disappoints, now I understand so many things😭😭
Billlie blows more minds. The song gets better the more you listen to it.
빌리 노래 좋다고 생각했었는데 역시나 이쪽 형님들께서 리액션해주시는군요. 감사합니다. 기대되는 좋은 팀인것 같아요.
I keep coming back to this song and im so glad this review exists so i can make some sense of why this is so amazingly special... like I know it's different musically from a lot of what Ive heard in the industry, but the theory explanations are the best
One of the best debut song by 4th gen GG. It's a pity that they changed their style 😭 I hope they stay in this kind of song for 2-3 comeback
their vocal progression in the chorus reminds me of some rina sawayama retro house songs tbh thats the only sound i could compare it to, no other kpop group or anything
The producer did a whole ritual in this song it's feels innocent but evil at the same time
This channel was created for songs like this. So fun to watch. You guys are all SO COOL.
When they play it right away on the piano is just everything
