OMG THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENTS!! 😭😭😭 I was very self conscious about everyone seeing the results and reading all these wholesome comments is unbelievable. I will read every single comment and reply to as many as I can and will use your tips to paint my next minis! Thank you so much again, you all made my night ❤
you have done more research than most people starting out with model painting! Amazing job with the paint discipline with water and keeping the layers not chucky
So, I did warn you about at least putting the primer, undercoat, and 1st base coat on before assembly ;) Personally, I got a large empty cardobard box, and sprayed the aformentioned coats, do it light and short sprays so it applies evenly. Then, depending on the colour scheme you can put it altogeather for the detailing and final coat, or do each piece in turn if it's a lot of small pices or you have an insane colour scheme - like, some of the "center pieces" the big boys, can end up needing 100 different colour applications, or intricate patterns... They're not so much out of order in that you have options of how they will look... After seeing these new connection/fitted/snap-on designs I'm not a fan, it actually limits the options you have in "modding" your troop to be more unique. Oh, one "cheat-sheet" tip, get yourself a freestanding magnifying glass... trust me, that will make painting things like faces/eyes significantly easier, also makes it easier to smooth over any mistakes, and put on ultra-fine details such as glyphs and painting on hyms and glyphs.
It's a great job btw, especially for a 1st try, in fact it's better than most people can do after years of practice - but also, when you're painting up literally hundreds of the buggers you end up only putting in your real effort on the center-pieces, the HQ guys and the Unique models, the grunts tend to get the "good enough" treatment.
Hi love your videos ❤ KitbashCarnage hear at the age of 31 iv recently got back into the warhammer/kitbashing community agen after taking 15year brake to pay bills and so on . I have taken the leap head on and started a youtube channel along with Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok. It's hard with this algorithm thing is somthing to get used to along with editing and so on but my love and the flame for my lost passion has been reignited more then ever and dont plan on stopping soon . Along with having lots of content plans and already in the pipeline and also a Revamp to all social media with new header picture and profile picture from a digital contractor I sorced I hope to just gain more traction to the community iv came back to 🔥 Regards KitbashCarnage
Not really. This is why we have something called "standards". It's a good thing to have standards because it's what gives you the motivation to become better. If your standards are higher than the produced result, you should try harder. But i guess this is an outrageous concept in the Panderverse we're living in.
@@xXturbo86Xxif my standards are to paint every model completely black with no visible detail, that’s my standard and if it makes me happy then that’s that. Your standard isn’t any better or worse than mine. What a ridiculous concept of “standards”. Standards are subjective and aren’t law. If I like the way my mini looks, you can kiss my whole ass if you think I care how you feel about it
As a commission painter with over 20 years experience, I can say that you painted this miniature better than almost all of the people that take my painting classes for their first mini. That's really good for even the tabletop quality. Very impressive.
@@ti8ick and don´t worry, with pactice, You will get faster at painting them... i still have the miniature i first painted... it sticks out like a sore thumb between his much newer spacewolf brothers, but all my opponents know, that if this squad is placed on the table, this means serious business for their army, as i only use that squad for special occasions...
10 nails were sacrificed for the Emperor. Both the mini and the video turned out great! Thanks for taking the time to film and edit this, it was fun to see the process. I'm sure you've seen it in videos but my tip would be remember that the back of your knife blade is good for smoothing out bumps/lines in plastic. It's sharper than you might think yet it's not as aggressive as the blade; less likely to dig in by accident.
This was a really nice watch. You're a natural. I expect you'll be developing some advanced techniques very quickly. Regarding the decal softener: The reason it destroyed the transfer is because its a mild solvent. You apply it over the top of a transfer once its dry, if the transfer hasn't conformed to the shape of the part correctly or its over rivets or something. It will melt it slightly. Each additional thin layer of it will melt it more. You can keep doing this until you're happy. In cases where I want a transfer over rivets and gaps in armour plates, I'll apply anywhere up to five coats of the stuff, letting each coat dry completely. Once you're happy with how it looks, then put your stormshield over it if you want to.
It all started with reaction vids. Now she is doing full blown 40k hobby vids.....AND I AM HERE FOR IT. Something heart warming about 40k noobs assembling and painting for the first time. 😊😊😊
Gotta say. Your first mini looks amazing. You’ve clearly done more research than I did on my first mini…and edge highlights on your first mini…brave but brilliant, can’t wait to see your finished death corp veterans, and your orks, WAAAGH!!!
Couple things I picked up on along the way that might be good tips moving forward: The way I prefer to remove moldlines is with the exacto-knife. Place it gently against the mini at a 45 degree angle, with the edge on the moldline and facing away from you. Then carefully drag the edge of the blade over the moldline towards you. The gentler the better. Prefer to take 3 passes rather than the first mucking un the surface. Grainy primer coats happen with the lighter primers in direct sunlight. Hot weather might exacerbate that issue as well. The paint will dry ever so slightly in the air and not make a smooth coat on the mini. A little booth made from a cardboard box to spray in a garage or at least a bit of shade would help. Feel free to experiment a bit with the colour primer you use. I prefer black, as it helps with working from dark to light and from recesses to highlights. There is no best primer though. Lighter primers make for brighter colours in some cases, especially orange and yellow, and would require fewer layers to get a smooth coat. In terms of thinning, better to thin slightly too much than too little. It shouldn't be super runny (unless it's contrast, shade or you're glazing) and it shouldn't be gloopy and globby. Anything in between works, and as you learn you'll work out what works best for which paint/application. Metallics don't necessarily ruin a brush in the short term, but if you want your tools to last, best to keep your metallics and non-metallics seperate. So seperate brushes, separate palette and separate water cup for cleaning. Heck yeah! Improvise! Jeans have seams too! ^^ For eyes: Work from the inside out! Much simpler to do the red first, and then paint over any mistakes (happy accidents) later. This is even more the case when you get to actual faces. Ah-Kwee-Lah, Ah-Kee-Lah, Ah-Kwi-Lah are all variants I've heard ;) All-over Nuln Oil is a great place to start with adding depth and definition. Soon Agrax Earthshade will join the club, and before you know it, you're hardly using those anymore cause you're layering everything up from dark to light xD It's a journey we all must take. Okay, the highlighting is where this kinda blew me away haha. For a very first mini, this has no business looking that good xD Honestly, that is an amazing looking Kriegsman, ready and proud to die for the Emperor! Looking forward to seeing where this hobbying journey takes you!
Regarding moldlines I have a dull hobby knife that I use where I purposely dont change the blade. A new blade is too sharp but a heavily used one is just sharp enough to work for precision scraping.
Great job for a first mini! 2 tipps: 1. To prevent shaky hands, I paint while leaning one of my wrists against the other one to steady my brush. It helps with coordination. 2. Brush off the dust from the mini before you prime or paint with a large, soft brush.
Exceptional start! You took to it very naturally. Next model you could sand/scrape down some of the moldlines but for smaller dudes it doesn't matter much. Biggest tip I thought of is for brush care - try to keep the paint from getting all the way up into the end of the brush and into the ferrule (where the bristles meet the uh.. shaft).. over time the paint will dry in there and the bristles will begin to separate and won't hold a point well anymore. Not a huge deal for cheaper brushes but when you get some fancier sable ones it's a must-do.
Thank you! I did notice how much difficult it is to clean the brushes when you got paint all the way in the ferrule and I'll try to remember this next time I paint and not dip it in like crazy 🤣 Yeah that huge mold line on the pants was the bane of my existence lol I have no idea how I missed it
@@ti8ick The brighter the color, the more a moldline will show underneath it. The ones that go right across backpacks are even worse than legs! As for the brushes; even if you end up having to retire them, they can still do rough duty like for drybrushing, applying texture/glue/transfers, or cutting the bristles down and using them for stippling effects. Great job! Your Ork was awesome too. Before you know it you'll be doing commissions for us!
"You've taken your first step into a larger world..." Very well done! This was a delight to watch, and I'm glad to see you had fun! You did an excellent job of painting, and you've already learned the secret: let it relax you, rather than stressing over it. I usually listen to music while I paint, and whole afternoons can drift by where I'm just in the zone. Just let the model lead you and use what colors seem right. Can't wait to see more of what you've got in store!
Thank you so much! Can't say I was fully relaxed while filming, but I loved it nonetheless. Definitely need to paint some for fun on my own time and not for content ❤
I’ve been a fan of warhammer for a couple of years now but was always so scared to try and paint. You did amazing!! Great work tibs, I think I might be ready to try now. ❤️
OMG Bibiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! first of all THANK you so much for watching my videos ily! ❤second of all, nothing would make me happier than my videos to inspire and encourage people, who like me and you were afraid of trying out painting! If I can do it so can you!!
It's really fun listening to your stream of consciousness about the process, I have painted several Warhammer armies and I still have these same thoughts all the time.
Its always fun to watch the journey of someone new to the hobby. I would not have guessed it was your first mini from your technique, and final results. Fantastic job! 👍😎
Beautiful result. Unbelievable what people can do nowadays. When I look back at my first minis 28 years ago this would have been golden demon material.
damn dude. for a first mini thats.... something. i know people who talk about themselves like they know how to paint who wont achieve this kind of precission and cleaness. even nonwithstanding any clean up you did. great work!
As predicted, well on your way to turning this channel into a full battle reports and hobby channel 😄 Your fate is as sealed as Belisarius Cawl’s mechanical lips are regarding just who’s geneseed he’s been using for those Primaris Marines!
Absolutely fantastic for your 1st mini! It’s great fun watching someone discover the Warhammer universe for the 1st time and getting into the hobby side!😁
I would use the flat side of the clipper towards the mini makes an easy and cleaner clip also your files are cute but a narrower one will much easier to control the filling width. Dont thin your paint to the point where the water starts to separate it it will make the layer too thin and runny thus requiring more paint for a neat cover. I have a set of brushes for metal and a set for normal paint with a coloured tape around one set to remember which is which. Shading is more for shadowy points so if I were you I would find a shading video. Im so glad you really got so well into it and you enjoyed it so much best of lucky with it. It went so well good job. Yes more painting I wanna see your journey
This is an unreasonably good first model!! Seriously, very well done, it's really impressive!! Watching you paint, it was impressive to see how you managed some of techniques, especially the edge highlighting (something that loads of people struggle to get done cleanly even after painting for a long time). I'll confess, I've never seen the "pinky support technique" before, so maybe you should consider trademarking so you can get the credit when everyone is doing it! I think very few people would be able to say their first model was anywhere near as good as that, and I think most people would be rather surprised you hadn't been painting for some time if you showed that to them. It certainly wouldn't look at all out of place in a well painted Death Corps army. At no point during the video did I think "she's doing that wrong" ... well okay... perhaps spraying in the wind wasn't ideal :D but it all worked out fine in the end! Don't worry that you had to tidy mistakes up, its something everyone ends up doing. The only disadvantage you have now, is you are going to have to get soooo good to see the massive difference most of us can see between our first and latest model ;) Amazing work, and great video. Hopefully it will encourage people who are a bit worried about painting to give it a go! Very well done!! You did the Emperor proud!
i use the pinky support too xD it stops the shaking of my hand and lets me better feel the distance to the mini. Its like writing on paper with or without your hand touching the paper.
Thank you looool I think I used the pinky support a bunch while doing someone's makeup because there's no other way to stabilize your hand working with somebody's face lol that's why it's so steady and well trained 🤣
Tibs going into the Minis painting is one of the most wholesome content I have ever seen from a content creator. as It shows real interest and love for the lore and the W40 universe. I cant wait to see you enjoy your self more and more Tibsyyy much love my friend
More people in hobby is always good! This is a great video of your first mini with fantastic production quality! I really hope you keep the mini painting videos rolling out!
When I started painting I'd never heard of 'Wet Pallette' and when I finally did, it was such a game changer! You were smart to do your homework and employ the right tools and techniques, it will give you such a leap forward in your mini-painting journey! Great work and keep it up!
More painting videos, definitely! I appreciate if you feel like you don’t have much to offer the viewers as a beginner, but that’s the best bit! I’ve loved seeing your journey into the hobby so far and I guarantee there plenty of people that want to continue seeing your journey going forward. Reading the comments, it looks like you’ve already inspired others to pick up a brush and that’s great! You done great for your first time! Well done! 👏🏻 Only tips: To keep your brushes in shape for longer, try to keep the paint on the bottom half of the bristles. You don’t want paint getting into the ferrule (metal part). If you do, give it a thorough rinse and clean straight away. It’s also good to keep rinsing your brush every minute whilst painting. As for thinning your paints. There’s nothing wrong with how thin your paints were. There’s also no right or wrong way to thin paints. Thinner paints will stop you blocking up all the details but will take an extra coat or two. Thicker paints are also great for freehand work or smaller details that are harder to apply multiple coats. The more you paint, the more experienced you’ll be and you will understand how thick or thin you want your paints. ❤
Thank you! I tried a bit of freehanding yesterday drawing a camouflage pattern and was wondering if it's ok that my layer was thicker than usual, but it makes total sense since you apply it in only a single layer. And I reeeeeally need to work on not dipping my brushes ferrule-deep into paint 🤣
My favorite painting videos are ones where people have fun. Gosh it was so fun to see you enjoying yourself and loving the colors and process!! I also recently started and it really feels so satisfying and free doesn’t it? I feel really good whenever I get into painting a mini!
Great mini! I know people that have been painting for a decade that can't get that good of a result! All those things you said about the mini not being so small in your hands, and the world not being so there, that's one of the reasons so many of us love the hobby! Again, wonderful, for anyone, but for a first min, that's outstanding! Noticed a few things that might help make things a little easier for your next few though, so my tips! Decal softener you put on the top of the decal after putting it on the model. It melts the edges away so you don't see the transfer carrier (the clear edge that you can just bairly see around the markings). That's why it melted your decal, that's what it does :) For paint thining, you did just fine! If anything you could thin it a bit more, your whole drop on the pallet. Work it around as you're using it to keep it consistent. When you're edge highlighting, it helps a bit to keep the brush or your paint a little wetter, not terribly so, just you want your paint to flow easily. I find it helps to pull down and towards myself when trying to paint a straight line can help. You're right about your pinky finger! An anchor helps a lot too when highlighting, another trick to anchor is to press you wrists together, but that can get cramped. Elbow braced on your desk can steady hands from shaking as well. Try to keep paint only on the first like %20-40 of the brush. The more that gets up into the metal part the faster it will wear out and start to fan out.
Not only first mini painted to a more-than-beginner level BUT also FILMING IT? That's Huuuugely impressive. I sincerely hope this hobby makes you happy because I thouroughly enjoyed witnessing your thought process and results. This is a great video to hype newer members of the community. Subscribed.
HOLY COW!! For a first mini that is unbelievably good! Way better than my first minis. Also, this is by far tour best video. I can't wait to see how your painting progresses.
Absolutely Incredible result!! Learning to experiment and having the attitude of 'it may not be accurate, but it's what *I* want to do' is an awesome perspective to have within the hobby and makes it so much more fun! The right way is the way that makes YOU happy! Like the Krieg video, Duncan Rhodes has one about painting faces at three different difficulty levels and they're a fantastic guide for easy, effective faces. The intermediate level (which looking at this model you're more than capable of!) is only 3 colours and has a result that constantly gets me compliments when people see it on the tabletop!
Most people take a really long time to get the result you did on your first mini. Save him forever. You've clearly got a knack for this, so just imagine how good you'll be 1 year, 3 years, 10 years from now. I really hope you stick with it given the potential you've shown. Bravo!
Thank you so much 🥹 life gets in the way and it’s often difficult to find time for the Hobby but I’m determined to continue because turns out I love it so much ❤never thought I’d ever be painting minis and look at me now haha
One thing that I found, when you were talking about how difficult the eyes were, I had similar trouble getting the eyes for my Chaos Marines. I actually found that since those were so small and narrow, to put the paint in and not worry about it getting elsewhere near the eye, like if it got onto the brow or head or other part of the face. Given how small the eyes were, I found it easier just to kind of be messy around those and make sure you got them all painted, and then touch up the areas around the eyes afterwards.
Yes! It's better to apply more paint and fix the areas around than not apply enough! Thank you!

I've never been really interested in playing warhammer however I like the lore and i'm painting them and other stuff since i was 11, now 38 and i must say, for a first, this is very impressive! far better than my first miniature, granted i was not following any guide at all but even with one, i doubt i could've done as well congratulations! in hope there will be many more to come!
For a first miniature, you did an excellent job. Nice thin coats, and great brush control. Over time things will become easier and improve, especially if you experiment with more advanced techniques in the future, and find what works for you. A few pointers I would make: Take some extra time cleaning the miniature of mold lines, and areas that were clipped, and not sure if you did it off screen, but change the water after using metallics and going back to regular paint. For the decals, it doesn't take long for them to loosen, and good to have a pair of tweezers to hold the card next to where to want to afix the decal, and use the brush to slide it into place. Also don't be afraid to mix colours if you need to, and remember to paint them however you want to. They do not have to follow a specific scheme, and always better to make them your own, and paint them in your own style.
Thank you for all the advice! I really need to work on my decals game lol that was the hardest part. I cleaned everything I could on camera, but a lot of it was edited out and I left out a HUGE mold line on his pants because I totally missed it 🤣 Can't wait to start trying out new things and experimenting!
Welcome to the hobby! You know you are going in all the way when you are painting the lenses of the Guardsmen haha. Excellent work! Especially for a first mini!
You did so GOOD! This was a delight to watch, I love watching peoples fist steps into the hobby. For a first miniature you are leaps and bounds ahead of most people and your paint scheme looked really nice as well. Also the "radio" is part of the gas mask filter. If you wanted to try some advanced painting techniques; the gun he has is a plasma pistol and there are some really cool techniques to make the ridges on the top look like they are glowing with heat (which they do in lore), but getting the effect to looks right can be quite difficult.
Some tips I wish I would have learned earlier: Wet palet is very simple method to make and eases things tremendously. 2 cups of water: One of normal paints and one for metallic. Then you don't have to change water every time you you use metallic paints. (Minimises metallic transfer into another paints) and a dedicated brush for metallic. Thus you can simply focus painting your miniature and don't need to worry about corrupting your washes or paints accidentally with metallic flakes. And its better paint too thinly than too thickly. You can always add layers.
Yes! All of this! Especially the tips for metallic paints. I also didn't use it on my wet pallet to prevent the sponge from absorbing the metallic flakes. Not sure if it's necessary, but just in case lol
as a seasoned painter it looks fantastic. Biggest tip i can give you is look into dry brushing overtop of the base coat. and use contrast paint. it is honestly a game changer! But looks way better than my first mini! :)
really good job for painting your first mini, and your first one will always be special to you. so gg and have fun with putting more paint on more minis :)
That was excellently done for your first mini. I'm so impressed how quickly you adapted and learnt each technique. You really are a natural and can see you becoming a truly great mini painter over time. Nice job! 👏
Your first effort at painting is much better than my own from a few days ago. I too was struck by how small the minis are, but your brush control is solid. Thanks for the video.
THANK YOU so much for this. Iv followed your 40k journey from my home in Kenya and Im so proud of you for affirming yourself as an honest to God emperor Warhammer member. You did so much better than I did on my first try. May your pile of shame keep growing. The emperor protects.
That looks amazing, especially for your first mini! I've been in the hobby for twenty years collecting, assembling and playing and absorbing as much lore as possible (white dwarf, black library etc). I only started painting in January this year though. Already better now than six months ago. Just keep painting and you'll be amazed at what you can do. Welcome to the greatest hobby in the world.
Honestly thats a damn good first mini. Love to see how you get into teh Hobby and how ou enjoy the painting / collecting side of it either. Very nice job ! Keep going and please do more videos of this kind.
He looks awesome! Great work on picking out the details, very well done. As for what colours you use, you're already following one of the most important principles of painting, which is "the rule of cool". You're painting you're minis how YOU want, using whatever colours YOU think look cool.
Congratulations on the mini/Hans and the video itself! It's really engaging; fun and good to follow. You've learned a lot from both processes and so could others! A good example is how you noticed the knee's mould line while watching footage back. I've seen some pretty accomplished mini painters talk about this sort of thing happen to them, so you're in good company! This is a bit like how some musicians level up once they've heard themselves in the studio. :) Grey primer was another great early choice under these colours, and if you feel that way too, it may be wise to find a pot of the same colour (as whichever primer you end up using often) so you can scrape any mould lines you spot and cover up if need be. That said, you're going beyond just learning every process, and learning lots already. Remember, most gear used by any Guard regiment is mass produced, and a lot of it might have seams - like the back of the boots - or mould lines that can be where they are on the mini, so there's more reason to live with some of those hehe. Ahh, I should've made some notes, to do your video justice, tibs 😅 If you watch more videos, you might notice certain painters have a meta of sorts about which shades to use over certain colours, and/or parts. Even so, exceptions can be made! An obvious alternative is to try Agrax Earthshade on some or even all parts of a soldier like this. That'd give a trench mud vibe, and the studio even uses brown shade on stuff like Space Wolves armour, but again, you don't have to go for obvious ideas every time. :) Nuln Oil worked well here as unifying shade and grime, and your application looked really intuitive! Speaking of grime, if you want to get into that, maybe try Ratling Grime from Citadel, sometime haha. If you find that shades leave surfaces like cloth too shiny, you can experiment with matte varnishes too... Good uhhh point 😉 about the fine highlights, though I really like the broad ones you painted on places like the knees too! It's cool to see how your makeup skills work here, and I can imagine different aspects of that will serve you well when painting faces. I generally don't go on about things being underrated etc, but Skavenblight Dinge seems like a paint that's easy to overlook, yet so versatile! As for paint thinning, it'd be slightly easier to be sure if everyyyy move was showed but that might slow the video down, so no worries really. The only one I'd try slightly thinner in future is the gold on those tiny skulls, but of course it can be handy to experiment, thinning paints to a wash consistency for faces etc when you're ready! Great job with the transfer too! Of course white won't stand out so much over metallic grey, but it's realistic. Realism and visibility are factors you'll probably ponder on any projects... 😌 Anyway, I could go on but that's probably heaps for now! Congratulations again, tibs!
That looks amazing! I wouldn't believe that is your first mini painted. I still don't do highlights. Keep it up. By the time you get an army on the table (you got to do it at least once). You'll blow everyone away with how amazing your army will be painted. You'll find a majority do the "battle-ready" paint job. You did "Parade-ready" and it'd put other armies to shame. Great job!
Thank you! I had to use a few tutorials for reference, but I can't wait for the day when I'm able to use my knowledge and creativity and just do my own thing ❤
ONE OF US! You did an amazing job on this. You definitely got all the basics down and picked up almost everything you could improve on. With practice and you'll get faster, and even better, picking up new techniques as you go. After over 30 years, touching the little finger to the mini or your other hand is a very old technique for stability. For better brush control, hold it closer to the tip, as if it where a pencil. Painting cold metallic (silver) over black or warm metallic (gold) over dark brown will give a much better effect. If you do want to paint in "sub assemblies", you'll want to varnish before gluing and use super glue to put the painted model together, otherwise you'll melt through the paint. Painting eyes, hold the model upside down and come in from the side, drawing the brush parallel along the socket. If you paint darkest colours first, its easier to fix the inevitable mistakes. Decal products (Microset and Microsol are the best) are mostly used on the miniature, to make it adhere better. While you're learning, just use water.
I recently got back into painting and was looking for tutorials and stuff, when I came across this. I don't think I've ever paid as much attention to anything like you did that mini, and it shows. IT looks really good and I hope you've been painting stuff since :) Rock on dude
listening to this video while grinding dungeons in WoW. You're voice tone etc reminds me so much of Mezgike. Happy you enjoyed your first steps in the hobby! Pleasure to have you in the community :3
Thanks for putting together this video. I just got my first set and was nervous after I opened the box about assembly and painting. You put me at ease. Great video!
Everyone has a personal experience with this, great job! would love to see more of this in the future. I have been thinking about getting into it myself
The grey pile of shame has decreased by one! Awesome video I hope you keep painting them 😁 You did a phenomenal job! TBH I was never a 40k fan, but I saw your videos reacting to stuff and fell in love with you (one of the best personalities on YT hands down), which led me to the 40k universe which is incredible!
Well, congratulation. The sole thing I would say is : keep it dearly, it's the first you did and lots of memories are attached to it, and I'm absolutely sure you'll be pleased to find it in ten years and to remember this time of your life. It's a memento and it's precious ^^ I wish I could keep my first model kit but, well, life...
I understand, I moved so much in my life I literally have none of my childhood things or really any memorable things at all.. makes you appreciate the memories ❤
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! It looks fantastic. As a new painter myself (i'm only on my 4th mini ever) to the hobby I can say without a doubt you rocked it. I was shocked at the detailing and everything you rocked for your first time. Already miles better than me. I can't wait to see more like this and how your talent grows as you work on more. YAY! 💕💕💕💕
Your research really paid off! It's actually crazy how much information you absorbed from all your reaction videos. As I'm sure others have mentioned by now, if you're enjoying yourself and the outcome, it's perfect, better than perfect, it's your own personal golden demon. Can't wait to see where this takes you!
That is so well done. Especially for your first try. Keep it up and you'll be competing in no time. I love how you feel attached to him. There's always something special by finishing a mini, knowing that you did this.
@ti8ick it looks real good your miniature you diid a really good job. The decal softner is there to make the decal soft so it can shape to the underground. I myself are also painting my own army for a different game.
Really really well done, you definitely did a great job for a first time miniature painter. Much better than what I did hahaha. Keep it up! I do have a few tips. Good job on cutting out the parts from the sprue, but when you cut off the residue plastic from the parts themselves, I would advice just using a knife to cut it away. Using the pliers can cause the plastic on the parts to bend or being cut off and that's almost unfixable. Also as you were saying in the video, sometime painting certain parts separately instead glue everything first and then paint, is the way to go. It really depends if it's a part that's visible on the table or not, and if the pose is preventing you from painting certain parts of the body. If you can't see a part of the model at all, you shouldn't bother painting it as no-one will ever see it. Can't wait to see your next paint project!
This was a joy to watch, reminds me of me and my pals when we first got into the hobby and just had fun and enjoyed the learning process of painting. Please do some more, it'll be interesting to see what you can do with a bit more practice considering how well your first ever mini came out 😊
As someone who has been painting and collecting minis for over 30 years I love seeing new people jumping into the hobby. You have nailed all the basic process and from here it's only about refining your personal method. Remember if you like the look then that's what matters at the end of the day. Great stuff!
So proud of you! ❤ Once you get into that painter's zone you will always surprise yourself of coming up with all sorts of solutions. Fantastic job for your first mini!
Watching someone get into the joy of mini building and painting for the first time had me smiling the whole time. You did fantastic! especially for the first time. I'd love to see a few more painting videos from you. As a video you did great too. It seems like you followed the format of other painting tutorials or makeup tutorials really well. Ironically the two are similar.
honestly as a first mini that is excellent. I can see you have clearly watched lots of tutorials to learn all the techniques. I hope you keep going because with this start I think you could be very good very quickly :)
Really enjoyed this. Its actually quite unique to see such a pro video production on someones first attempt, normally they're reserved for tutorials. And it was so great to see you getting into it, talking of the meditative process and ending up with such a good result you're proud of. Would really love to see more so we can follow your progression. I realise they might be time consuming but even if they were every couple of months I think people would get a kick out of it, or you could start a separate channel for it (I know that the algorithm isn't kind to diversifying). You should think about a colab with Louise from Rouge Hobbies even if it was an interview or a reaction of your first paint job
Good for you, jumping right into it is awesome! I wish I had the ability to do the same. It was very well done and for your first, its very impressive.
This is an amazing job for your first try!! You are leaps and bounds ahead of me already and Ive been paining for years. Time to pack my paints up I think.
was waiting for this video for a long time, I'm sure you got a lot of advices from better painters so I'll just say you did great for a first time ! you're actually very gifted and hoping you'll enjoy deal with the other minis 👍
5:30 Painting in sub assemblies is really useful on miniatures with intricate details like these. Also, the glue is less a glue and more of a solvent, it actually softens the plastic where you put it and when two pieces are pushed together, the softened plastic on each piece bond together almost like a wield.
So, I did warn you about at least putting the primer, undercoat, and 1st base coat on before assembly ;)
Personally, I got a large empty cardobard box, and sprayed the aformentioned coats, do it light and short sprays so it applies evenly.
Glad to see you get so much support! :D Good luck with your future projects!
Hi love your videos ❤
KitbashCarnage hear at the age of 31 iv recently got back into the warhammer/kitbashing community agen after taking 15year brake to pay bills and so on .

Pro tip on painting:
If YOU like YOUR mini as it is, it's perfect. ;)
Yes! Amazing tip! As long as you're happy the rest doesn't really matter
Not really. This is why we have something called "standards". It's a good thing to have standards because it's what gives you the motivation to become better. If your standards are higher than the produced result, you should try harder. But i guess this is an outrageous concept in the Panderverse we're living in.
@@xXturbo86Xx Which standards are you talking about? I only know "battle-ready" which is three colors on a model.
@@xXturbo86Xx And someone elses standards will shit on your standards, so what's the point?
@@xXturbo86Xxif my standards are to paint every model completely black with no visible detail, that’s my standard and if it makes me happy then that’s that. Your standard isn’t any better or worse than mine. What a ridiculous concept of “standards”. Standards are subjective and aren’t law. If I like the way my mini looks, you can kiss my whole ass if you think I care how you feel about it
As a commission painter with over 20 years experience, I can say that you painted this miniature better than almost all of the people that take my painting classes for their first mini. That's really good for even the tabletop quality. Very impressive.
I don't know what to say.. thank you. You have no idea how encouraging this is ❤
@@ti8ick You go girl! you're amazing!
@@StaindHand And you're both jealous and a douche.
Thanks a lot Dave! You told me at class I was the best!
Thank you so much and I REALLY appreciate the advice, in fact I already tried it out while prepping my second mini and it worked great!
@@ti8ick I'm so pleased to hear that! 😊
Those nails are now firmly in Angrons head where they belong
Thank youuuuuu now I understand what it's used for! I feel so dumb for using it instead of water hahaha
It all started with reaction vids. Now she is doing full blown 40k hobby vids.....AND I AM HERE FOR IT.
Something heart warming about 40k noobs assembling and painting for the first time. 😊😊😊
It helps that she is so divine
Gotta say. Your first mini looks amazing. You’ve clearly done more research than I did on my first mini…and edge highlights on your first mini…brave but brilliant, can’t wait to see your finished death corp veterans, and your orks, WAAAGH!!!
Thank youuuu! I started painting an Ork friend for him yesterday and already can't wait to paint again!
Nice and chill, I really enjoyed that. Really good job with the video AND the painting, especially for the first one. You are really a natural.
Thank you! This is so encouraging ❤
LETS GO !!! Keep painting and having fun, enjoy the path, and always... pray to the emperor.
The four-armed emperor ;)
Or the four two-armed chaos emperors.
Nah alwayz pray to Gork and Mork.
Mold lines! But the paint is 10/10!!! Wow! PLEASE more of this!!
hahahah it's so funny how I only saw the mold lines on camera 🙈 will pay more attention next time. Thank youuu!
@@ti8ick The first bit of primer you spray on will usually highlight any mold lines and make them easier to remove before finishing priming.
@@ti8ick every single time, both with mold lines, and whatever little greeblie I forgot to paint.
Finally! So proud of you to come this far! For the Emperor! 🦅
Thank you so much for the encouragement and for believing in me!
Couple things I picked up on along the way that might be good tips moving forward:
The way I prefer to remove moldlines is with the exacto-knife.
For eyes: Work from the inside out! Much simpler to do the red first, and then paint over any mistakes (happy accidents) later. This is even more the case when you get to actual faces.
Ah-Kwee-Lah, Ah-Kee-Lah, Ah-Kwi-Lah are all variants I've heard ;)
All-over Nuln Oil is a great place to start with adding depth and definition.
Holy crap. Your first ever mini looks better than what i can do. Congrats!
omg thank you
Great job for a first mini!
2 tipps:
1. To prevent shaky hands, I paint while leaning one of my wrists against the other one to steady my brush. It helps with coordination.
2. Brush off the dust from the mini before you prime or paint with a large, soft brush.
Thanks for the tips!
"You've taken your first step into a larger world..."
Very well done!
Oooh love the Star Wars reference!
I’ve been a fan of warhammer for a couple of years now but was always so scared to try and paint. You did amazing!! Great work tibs, I think I might be ready to try now. ❤️
Give it a shot! Hopefully you find it fun and rewarding. Good luck!
Thank you! I did my research and learned a lot from UA-cam tutorials and made sure I had all the tools needed ❤
I know that the makeup background helped, but still, that mini looks amazing and especially for being the first one! Congrats!
damn dude. for a first mini thats.... something. i know people who talk about themselves like they know how to paint who wont achieve this kind of precission and cleaness. even nonwithstanding any clean up you did. great work!
Thank you! 🥲
As predicted, well on your way to turning this channel into a full battle reports and hobby channel 😄
Your fate is as sealed as Belisarius Cawl’s mechanical lips are regarding just who’s geneseed he’s been using for those Primaris Marines!
It's as inevitable as Death Guard's advancement and gifting Nurgles blessings...
Great job! Even more so if you consider it is your first miniature!
Absolutely fantastic for your 1st mini! It’s great fun watching someone discover the Warhammer universe for the 1st time and getting into the hobby side!😁
Thank you so much for your sweet comment
This is the video I've been waiting for. 😊
The only disadvantage you have now, is you are going to have to get soooo good to see the massive difference most of us can see between our first and latest model ;)
Amazing work, and great video.
@@ti8ick I suppose you can't clamp their face in a miniature painters handle either! Sounds like a nightmare! 🤣
Tibs going into the Minis painting is one of the most wholesome content I have ever seen from a content creator.
as It shows real interest and love for the lore and the W40 universe.
I cant wait to see you enjoy your self more and more Tibsyyy
much love my friend
Thank you Luluuuuu!!!
You paint decal softener on after you apply them, it melts the film so the decal fits flatter to the model
More people in hobby is always good! This is a great video of your first mini with fantastic production quality! I really hope you keep the mini painting videos rolling out!
Thank you so much. This is why it took me so long to film and edit, because I really wanted it to look profesh 😍
Well done! 👏🏻
Only tips:
To keep your brushes in shape for longer, try to keep the paint on the bottom half of the bristles.
Damn, you've got real talent for this, that's an awesome looking first model! Super clean.
Honestly that was insane for the first time. Please dont stop. I feel like you could honestly be elite level at painting after literally a few months
YOO!!!! You did such a great job! This is really impressive for your first mini. Hell, some people never get to this level. You're a natural!
Ahhhh you’re too kind, thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
My favorite painting videos are ones where people have fun. Gosh it was so fun to see you enjoying yourself and loving the colors and process!! I also recently started and it really feels so satisfying and free doesn’t it? I feel really good whenever I get into painting a mini!
This was incredibly fun to watch. Well done on the paintjob! Really great stuff.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
Thank you so much for great advice! I have a lot to learn in thinning the paint and how it behaves in general and tips like this are so helpful!
You read the assignment and knocked it out of the park. Fantastic job, Tibs! Keep it coming.
This was amazing to watch. For your first model, you did outstanding! Keep it up. Looking forward to more painting sessions.
Thank you!
I've never been really interested in playing warhammer however I like the lore and i'm painting them and other stuff since i was 11, now 38 and i must say, for a first, this is very impressive!
far better than my first miniature, granted i was not following any guide at all but even with one, i doubt i could've done as well
congratulations! in hope there will be many more to come!
Nice job! 👏
omg thank you Coursameeeeee!
The Intro alone got me into Gear :D And you choose the right Music Segments!
Death Corps of Krieg as your first mini is such a good choice, and it looks pretty good! 👏🏽
Thank you! I was a bit scared of how small it was and I'm so happy it turned out good. Krieg are so badass!
@@ti8ickthey are SO badass!
Your first effort at painting is much better than my own from a few days ago. I too was struck by how small the minis are, but your brush control is solid. Thanks for the video.
Apart from the amazing looking first mini, I have to give props to your camera work and editing. Very professional!
THANK YOU so much for this. Iv followed your 40k journey from my home in Kenya and Im so proud of you for affirming yourself as an honest to God emperor Warhammer member. You did so much better than I did on my first try. May your pile of shame keep growing. The emperor protects.
Congrats on your first mini painting. I hope you continue to enjoy it. It's always a blast getting into a new hobby, and you did great.
It look really good! I loved your comment about how knowledge of makeup helps with highlighting the miniature. That’s spot on!
Grey primer was another great early choice under these colours, and if you feel that way too, it may be wise to find a pot of the same colour (as whichever primer you end up using often) so you can scrape any mould lines you spot and cover up if need be.
Damn! Very good job on your first miniature! The video is also edited very nicely.
YAY! 💕💕💕💕
Lovely video, great brush control on your first miniature! Your highlights/shading contrast looks ace.
Lovely! Much better than my first mini, I can tell you that. Glad you enjoyed the painting process, and Im excited to see what else you do!
For your first miniature paint, you did really, really well! May the emperors light shine upon you for all eternity, battle sister!
As your first painted model, that is amazing. You should be really proud, well done! Highlighting only gets more stressful lol
WOW your painting is Soo good for the first time keep going love to see more of what you've painted
Wow you have a talent for miniature painting
You painted with passion and interest and can not wait to see this army in battle!
Looks way better than my first time painting. Good work!!
Great stuff!
you can clean up the seam on the leg, just when you paint over that area, use extra paint or thicker paint in that area only.
So proud of you! ❤
Once you get into that painter's zone you will always surprise yourself of coming up with all sorts of solutions.
It looks amazing! I can’t wait to see you do the other models 👌🔥
Great brush control. You show that art skills apply across mediums. Also, you did your research, and the results prove it. Nice!
5:30 Painting in sub assemblies is really useful on miniatures with intricate details like these. Also, the glue is less a glue and more of a solvent, it actually softens the plastic where you put it and when two pieces are pushed together, the softened plastic on each piece bond together almost like a wield.
Wow, first paint job! That's a great job, better then anything I've done.
