- Sharptail Grouse hunting is quickly becoming one of my favourite types of hunting. Such a fast paced sport, great exercise, and fantastic table-fair as well! Hope you enjoy my recent hunt in Manitoba's Interlake Region.

Glad to see you and Aaron both say grace and recognize the blessings God has given you! A great example for others. Awesome stuff!
Great video! I am from Manitoba and I love hunting sharp tails very fun very good to eat. My favorite is battered and fried it is delicious!
👍👍👍
Love when Jays Canadian accent comes out to play, 1:32 “couple of big bucks over there guys!”
Hey Jay, I really enjoy your vids but I really really like it when Sam is on with her facial expressions!!
I hunt mostly ruffed and spruce, but I have bagged only ONE sharp-tail in my life. Among the upland game bird species, the sharp-tail has to be the one best built for flight.
When I cleaned the one sharp-tail that I bagged, I couldn't believe how strong its wings were and how difficult they were to separate from the meat sections!
I came from a northern Ontario in a reserve I’ve killed spruce and sharp tail..but ruffed grouse there’s barely any here…out of all 3 of them sharp tail is my favourite to eat
I’ve noticed spruce grouse hang out on logging roads/gravel and beaches…meanwhile ruffed grouse hang out in the logging roads and then there’s sharptail I usually see them on the tippy top of the tree
@@GrimReaperz2o9 That was interesting to hear you've encountered spruce grouse on beaches. One would think they would stick to the conifer woodlands.
Ruffed grouse actually like freshly cleared bush because that's where they often find a lot of the seeds, clover and berries that they prefer to eat.
Dogs make upland hunting way more fun and way more successful, if you like hunting sharptails I’d recommend looking at an upland dog.
Thanks for being back memories of hunting in Manitoba
Congratulations of the Sharpies!! It's hard enough to shoot the action of a deer hunting video let alone a wee bird moving at 500mph, so great job telling the story with what you had! Also LOVE the "Sam Cam" Sweatshirt! Really good stuff guys!
I shoot a lot of spruce grouse , I have coded them with the Paco crumbs, definitely will try the stir fry with them .
Fun video...especially the cooking part. As already mentioned, a bird dog would go a long way towards elevating your upland experience. There are two breeds I would recommend specific to what I witnessed in your video - but not restricted to that cover. They would be a pointer or a setter. There are other breeds that "could do the job". I'm just offering the ultimate or best 2. I hunt mine (pointer and setter) on everything from woodcock to grouse to Bobwhite to Mearns to Gambels to scalies to grey partridge, oh....and sharptail too.
Keep the vids coming.
Congrats on the first sharpies! I just got 2 in North Dakota on a pheasant hunting trip. You got to try pheasants. Like you say, it's all about being ready at all times like musky fishing. Loving the hunting videos. Loved the "Sam Cam" sweatshirt lol.
They are tough to film for sure. Kuddos to you for capturing some moments.
You need to try sharpies plain with a little salt and pepper. Delish!
Great video you give good information and great to watch
Haven’t tried upland birds in a stir fry! Thanks for the tips in this vid!
Love seeing Jay hunt
Awesome jay. Loving the hunting vids. I do a lot of ruffie hunting in the woods. But never hunted any other of the grouse species
Sweet video man! I cook blue grouse in a stir fry kinda like you did. Tastes good. I also broth up just about any upland bird into a sort of noodle soup.
Nice sharpies. Time to add a german shorthaired pointer to the family. Your sharpie success rate will go up 10000%
I love all these hunting vids
You gotta pick up your shells jay. Begun to become a big deal here in the states
I was going to suggest that. Like Aaron W. would say "Pick up your trash, you slobs!"
Hey Jay awesome video! Also I'm excited for ice fishing season except I don't have an Ice auger any recommendations for a beginner?
That soy sauce is as canadian as you can get! loved the video!
I like how Jay uses a filleting knife to cut the meat. Lol.
It’s me again
THE GOOSEEE
Love the hunting videos !!!
Shooting sharpies, just wait for a cold frosty morning. They will roost in the trees and wait for the frost to come off the ground before they feed.
This is a prime time to use a 22 mag with a good scope. And start at the bottom bird and work your way up.
Just my $.02
Ya thats exciting.......making the hunting community look bad there bud
@@chadengebretson6243 how does that make anyone look bad? Dumb comment
Is that a tarmagin? Do they turn white in the winter
hey...you should try hunting hungarian grouse/way more fun.
That is a sharp tail grouse. And yes ptarmigan do turn white in the winter
That is not a ptarmagin and they kinda turn a little white for winter
Amazing
I would be willing to bring my GSPs is to trade for a fishing trip😁
Do another ruffed grouse vid
You should get in touch with a guy with some good pointing dogs J That would make for some good video And you and no one birds would be flushing
Don't need to keep a wing attached to upland birds.
Where are your dogs?
Don’t need em in Canada, so many birds everywhere
Tip: don’t mention anything about saying grace. Turns off atheists like me. I don’t care if you worship the devil, but why mention that brainwashed stuff. The procedures you have in your cult do not interest most people.
don't like it, don't watch. simple
