    My neighbor graduated OCS going in as an E-8! I was blown away. He’s a Captain now.

      It's amazing how fast you pick up rank especially if you have previous military experience! I am tempted but I did vow to not myself through that again. It's not the BootCamp or ocs itself that is the hardest but always being away from family and missing important events is so depressing especially as you are getting older.

    There is the potential at OCS to challenge you, physically and mentally. I graduated in the 34th OCC in 1963. The physical demands may be more rigorous now but I believe like Pogo, you are your own worst enemy. You have to just do what you are directed to do and don't doubt yourself. That is the lesson of combat: just do what needs to be done, without thinking about it.

    That's a hilarious story. I'm an enlisted Marine Vet and I remember in Boot Camp I forgot my cover and had to put my hand on my head to the chowhall and back.
    My son is in PLC Jr.'s, he left to Quantico this past weekend for his 1st 6 weeks. I ran into your channel looking up USMC OCS.

      Semper FI; I got my Commission through OCS PLC Jr/Sr many moons ago (83/84), TBS Fox Co 6-85;
      I went to Enlist Boot Camp in 81 (MCRD SD); my Jr DI was my Sr Sgt Inspector for PLC Jr (83) until my BP got me move to another Plt; We did meet up in Week 5 when he found out I was there;
      Good luck to your son;

      Name tapes are physical pieces of tapes that you write your name on and then you put it on your gear so everyone knows whose gear is whose.
