It's not about the whiskey, it's the people you share it with!
#bourbon #whiskey #whiskeytube
I actually am really enjoying mine. I get a super bright strawberry note, some cinnamon & light musty oak. It’s not drinking as hot as most of the reviews I’ve seen proclaim. It’s also got a super solid finish. Must be a lazer code scandal again 🧐😂😂
Lmao.
What is the laser code scandal? Did they mix up the batches? Are all the barrels not consistent? If so, that's not cool.
same with mine! cheers!🥃
These are high quality, high proof, well aged whiskies for a reasonable price.
I love the variety of every batch and the sense of mystery it brings.
Thanks Jason!
I bunkered 6 bottles of this one. Fantastic batch. Wasn't expecting the "peppery" notes but for some reason I don't hate it. ECBP is the last "Never Miss" bourbon in my opinion. After years of chasing allocated stuff I don't even bother anymore. I get all 3 batches of ECBP the day they drop no questions asked. What a value.
I agree. I'll be looking out for every release. I came late to the party in November of last year. But I managed to score one bottle of ECBP923 and wow. I found two more that I'm sitting on. Just got the ECBP 524 today. Have not opened it yet. I'll be looking out for the larceny B524.
ECBP gets graded more harshly than any other bourbon.
I would agree.
Because it's the best and everyone hates the best. lol
A lot of people threw out A124 because of the proof. I really enjoy it. If you erase the idea that there was a better batch, you might find it really good.
Did you find it hot initially? I'm a BP guy, but to me, it was 🔥. Letting it sit and coming back.
We’re so spoiled with really great whiskey now that people are insanely snobbish. I put a teaspoon of water in a hot pour and that tames it, especially happens on 1792 FP. I just bought B524 and my store still had A124 and for 49.99 because it doesn’t even have any value to flip or trade. So I just bought one for myself. That’s an almost 11yr, 120pf special release bourbon for 50 dollars.
@@TheUMIA not for me.
A124 was my first ECBP, and I enjoyed it. Not enough to buy a 2nd of that one, but enough to look forward to future ECBPs.
Great video. I bought two bottles of the B524 BP, and I absolutely love it.
I have both right now they’re down about half way and have opened up nicely.
I'm passing on the ECBP this year. Instead I'm going for the Larceny BPs. We'll see how that goes....
I LOVE Larceny BP. Even with the variety of batches I have enjoyed each one.
@@gjlowe I never had Larceny until A124. I usually avoid wheated bourbons because many that I have tried have a moldy corn note. The A124 was very good, tho.
I'm excited to try this one. Was let down by A124. Thanks, Jason.
This is really good to me when I reviewed it it’s not as good as the C923 but I was thinking it was one of the better batches
To me it's solid. Good classic ecbp.
The Cs have always hit me the best each year. C919 (136.8proof) is my absolute favorite ECBP I have ever sipped.
Just finished my second glass since receiving a bottle from my wife as a birthday present and I absolutely love it. It is very hot and spicy right from the bottle but a little water opens it up so much. I get a strong caramel and brown sugar kick that I love. So smooth and flavorful with some water.
I’m not a big “add water” kinda guy but this bottle needs a little bit to lighten up on the spice and heat and brings out a little more creaminess.
Great timing, I had this in my hand earlier today and passed on it for $92. Will try to get a sample first.
Just snagged a bottle. Will evaluate over time.
I have always been a fan of that 10+ year age statements on HH products. Your review helps me to know weather or not I will look for it, and I will. What this also tells me that age doesn't always mean its good. Cheers!
JC - I think you need to launch a bloopers episode. With your signature hand drums to start each show along with the infamous chair fall…there’s gotta be some solid laughs for your fan base. Might be a great way to add another 2k in subscribers!
Definitely a mixed bag on reviews of this bottle. Appreciate the review
Took the chanced on Friday and I got myself a bottle of ECBP B24 and Crown Royal Blackberry from the GE in Pickerington. Was not planning to buy the ECBP but the guy stocking the shelves said there were some behind the counter so I had to get one for myself.
Thanks for the review Jason, very informative and a contrast to Cam and the Junkies take on this one.
Yeah I think ita good not great. I guess they liked it alot.
Good show. Haven't seen this yet in lowa
I never know if these Batches are worth buying "sight unseen", so to speak, or not. Thing is, if I don't grab them when I first see them, it gets harder to find them. I've had the B522, B523, and C923. Looking back on the reviews (not here) that I left for each of them, I apparently liked them all very much. If I can find this (or the A124 for that matter) for SRP, I may grab one.
As always, thanks for the honest and objective review!
I am a fan of the "B" batches of ECBP and also purchased C923. Of the three you mentioned: B522, B523 and C923; I still prefer B523 >C923>B522. I think B521 is better than all of these 😊
@@jeromepeters6935 Thanks for that. I boarded the Bourbon Boat a little too late to have snagged some of those '20 - '21 Batches. So, I was not aware of/on the lookout for these releases. The first batch I ever bought was the Booker's Pigskin Batch back in the Summer of 2020. At the time, I had no idea what it was (a limited batch release).
Looking forward to trying this one, but I am currently looking forward to herfing with a nice scotch, or a rye. I will get back to the B525 a bit later.
I think what has happened is that C923 set such a high bar. I get the feeling the C924 may best of this year.
Currently drinking the B523 looking at B524 on my shelf thinking about B525!
I got several C923s and have other older batches. At the point that unless Jason says a ECBP is special, gonna be passing for a while….which I’ve done on this years batches.
I've only had a couple of the EC Barrel Proof's and a couple of their single barrel barrel proofs and I have yet to be impressed. None were bad, in fact they were all good, just not living up to the hype. Every JD special release and SiBBP that I've had has been very good or excellent.
Still love the ECBP. Will always grab one. Trying to make my C923 last as long as possible.
Great review, I was able to grab one from my local Acme grocery store yesterday. Hoping it opens up after it gets some air.
I guess I'm more of a C batch guy. Year after year it seems the C batch is the best.
Cs have been great also I felts B22&23 were also good.
Totally agree. C batches have been hitters for me almost every year. I always get a dark fruit or cherry note along with sweet oak on C batches. Fingers crossed for this years 🤞
@@michaelfrock2473 I personally have never had a bad B-Batch. So good.
With all the amazing group picks hard to want to chase an ok Bourbon. I like ECBP but being a little picky about what I buy. I’d probably grab it if I saw it though. I haven’t had one I didn’t like. The thin comment scares me though. Thanks Jason, need these honest reviews to know where my money gets spent. Cheers!
Not sure about SRP but the wholesale cost in MD is $65 now. That would push shelf price up to $85-$90.
Great review with lots of details. Your film quality is also really great!
All these version mentioned to compare but the only one I could buy was A122. Marketing and price trumps distribution.
Now the public will wait with great anticipation for C924. And I’m fine with that
See with the C923 monster nothing HH should end the year with their C batch as a BEAST, to give a baby heritage release or a special release but with no special signifiers..to give everyone something to look forward to at the end of the year.
Agree with you on this one. I'm a fan of ECBP and was a bit disappointed in the A124 in fact I like the Larceny A124 over it. That was a first for t. Just picked up the ECBP B524 tonight so will some get into it. Cheers dude.
I think year to date b524 is the best , vs earlier years , c922 is the best . It's a dry taste but a long burn and tasty.
Jason C love you buddy been there since the beginning. Don’t get too big for your britches. B524 is good and nice proof point. The snob, which I’m becoming comes through. Take it how you will. Love your reviews, just sayin
Sipping on some Glenfarclas 105 cask strength while watching this. Cheers Jason
Love the content per usual. Really gonna be a well deserved accomplishment when you hit the 100k mark!
Wild. Slb review just dropped and they call it thick and no finish. This review... thin with long finish. Spicy and wood driven... less sweet and fruit... that I agree with. This is a wood bomb. I get finish for days and good viscosity... honestly, I think most of the people who dont love it are wanting a liquid candy bar... if you want complex wood notes... this is a top tier batch. If you want something that tastes like 8 different types of sugar... maybe not your batch.
Jason…. Compared to the Larceny B524… thoughts? 🤔
Great review! In my opinion, since 2022, ECBP has gone down hill… 2023 had one decent batch and from what I have heard about 2024.. doesn’t seem like its going to be any year to rave about. Probably wont be getting this batch either.
Classic ECBP, I like this bottle alot...and to my mind the best bourbon for the buck available in my local Oregon bottle shop.
Is it spicy on the tongue, and does that spice linger? I don't like my tongue feeling like I ate jalapeños. I may skip it. Thanks for video, cheers.
A little bit of chili spice I think.
Great honest review Jason, thanks.
Well, I liked it. It's hot, it flavorful.
Honestly at this point I would rather buy single barrel picks. In the last 2 years, only C923 was as good as numerous 8-10 year old picks I've bought.
That's all I need to hear, A124 is still around but I think I'm going to skip both. Find us another B520!!
Heaven Hill made a mistake dropping the 12Yr age statement. Wrong move, wrong time. There will be a lot of new batches that sit on shelves and collect dust. In 4-5 years they will pivot and bring it back. Age matters!
I've got so many of these on my shelf that I will pass unless they are a massive hitter.
Yeah... a few years of simply grabbing one of each batch has left me with about 15 of them in the bunker. Unless we get a standout batch like C923 I'm good.
No final breakdown bro! lol
Crazy that you were kinda meh on it, just cracked one tonight and thought it was very good.
It's definitely gotten better. But still think its in line with a baseline batch. It's opened up and gotten sweeter
I wonder if they are regretting the release of C923 yet?
Yeah, but what about laser codes? 😂
Good video!
I can’t find this online. Sold out
If I see one I'll probably grab it 😁
Do you think it's the same batch just b524 is 5 mo older. I mean the age statements line up with that.
I don't think that's the case. They blend a new batch each time but yeah....nothing special here. A solid on profile batch
I like it, but it tastes like a basic ECBP release. Nothing special but nothing bad
absolutely agree
Good review 👍🏾
I haven't pulled the trigger on it but my local abc store has an Elijah Craig barrel proof for 84 bucks. I don't remember the lot number, but it had a 9 year and some change age statement. Should I possibly buy it or pass?
Is it a private selection? Sounds like it
@TheMashandDrum I think it is. I know it said on the bottle hand-picked my Virginia ABC stores
@@louiejones4092 I mean if it's a pick see if you can get some tasting notes or try it first.
B batch seems to always be a letdown. Im going to let mine open up and see what happens. Lets hope C is a great one again or this year is a complete bust.
Almost seems like C923 has become a curse for future ECBP batches.
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
C923 was in the 130s
C923 was 133 proof
Yes I should have said, aside from C923
Alrighty
사고싶다...
The review continues to prove this just isn’t a good bourbon for the price. If that juice was in a different bottle… no one would talk about it. Too many misses on the batches.
It’s so difficult to judge any barrel proof from a fresh crack though. Good analysis, but let’s be honest it’s still good whiskey 😄neck pours are not real pours
