    I am in awe of the attention to detail in such a supposedly simple item. I love watching the hands of an artisan such as yourself. Beautiful work!

    I like the feel of carving wood with a plane.
    It is also ideal to use a plane to round the corners of the box.
    This is a simple and beautiful jewelry box.

    that planer has to be so freaking sharp
    you can even hear how sharp it is :o

      I want to know the wood being used.
      If it is balsa then the planer doesn't have to be very sharp because it is super soft and easy to cut... I can't find anything about the type of wood being used in the video...

    • @Destros2ndone
      @Destros2ndone Рік тому +2

      @@GOLD_FEVER i don't believe it's balsa, i imagine it would be even harder to get a good cut
      like when you cut soft wide bread
      no matter how sharp the knife, you smoosh it together ^^

    Faire une petite boîte comme celle-là paraît facile, mais ce n'est pas le cas.
    C'est un vrai travail de précision et de minutie, surtout avec uniquement de l'outillage à main.
    Merci de nous faire connaître ces métiers artisanaux méconnus.

    Rabbet he cut with plane can be much quicker cut on a table saw… or with a router.
    Way he done it is awesome for for hobby but if you trying to sell it that little box would have to sell for a equivalent of $200-500 to just pay for labor.

    سررت بالتعرف و التعلم منكم طريقة العمل الممتع حقاً و السؤال هنا هل هذه الأشجار تنمو فقط في اليابان أم لها أسم آخر في الشرق الأوسط. عملكم رائع و فني و أستخدام الغلي بالماء الساخن يعطي اللحاء الشجر القوة في العمل أتمنى ان أجده في الغابات في وطني سورية شكراً لكم على الإضاءة على هذه الطريقة تحياتي لشعب اليابان المبدع في الصناعات اليدوية ♥️🌹🌿

    Hello,
    Thank you for sharing the secrets of making this box.
    Please explain to me how you shave only the wood piece and not the jig at 45 degrees.
    Thank you.

    1:26 Look at the unusual grain on the side of the plane. Can anybody identify the type of wood the plane is made from?

    • @nicknaz
      @nicknaz Рік тому +4

      IMO this is typical for kanna white oak. Such grain you can see in some points of this wood when cutting it.

    こんばんは! 初めてのコメントですが、 教えてください。
    4分10秒位の所で箱の小口にけ引きと鑿で片側だけ掘っているのは接着した時に空かないようにですか?
    清水さんの動画はほとんど見て自分も木工を楽しんでいます。

    Guy needs to use a smaller plane when shaving those small pieces. That large plane just seems unwieldy for such small items lol.
    Those tiny c clamps are so adorable haha

    • @jenerhart7025
      @jenerhart7025 Рік тому +3

      But he makes it work. I think a smaller plane might not be strong enough to do what he wants it to do.

      This video is about the craftsmanship, not about diy safety. The real craftsmen of present and past used no gloves and goggles. A hammer is as dangerous as a table saw.

      安物の基準がよく分からないけど、巷の粗悪な中国桐に比べたら上質な桐材を使われてますよ。国産か北米産かな。古くて油気が抜けているようには感じる。
