I googled how to fix a door, and your video comes up for free. You are educating the world. I think that if they are going to pronounce your video as being the top video of all videos of how to sand down the bottom of a door, then you should be paid for it, sir.
Great video!! I would check the door hinges first to make sure they are tight and in good condition. There usually is a reason why the door starts scraping if it hasn’t previously done so.
Thank you so much, Mr.! You saved me such a hassle. Here in India, it's very common during the rainy season the doors swell up a bit and start scratching the tiles at one or two places. Your video gave me the idea of using sandpaper to trim it down. I didn't use duct tape or anything; I just used the sandpaper in a horizontal direction and shaved the excess in 2 minutes!
Yep works , fixed a door that has never been right since we moved in 8 years ago .. Didn't have any double sided tape so had to try and hold the sandpaper in place whilst I moved the door back and forth .
Wow, Marcus, I watch all your current affairs videos, and I was surprised to see you pop up with a video on fixing a sticking door. You're a man of many talents! I'm going to walk to In-Excess and buy some double-sided tape right now!
@@WallyboisWoodworking I'm going to try it tomorrow as I only want to remove a mil at most. Hardly worth taking the door off to plane it. I was searching for an easy fix and definitely found it 👍
Your logic is sound. In reality it's probably a mix of the floor buckling from weather, the door drooping from gravity and the door hinges getting loose from use. The easiest fix is usually adjusting the hinges.
Excuse me, Mr. Englishman do you know that Google is using your video and they do not consider putting the thumbs up knob on there so your video is being played hundreds of times and may not be being late. I wouldn’t concern myself with it and I would like Google know that maybe they owe you some money
Unfortunately, my 10 foot high oak front door is way too heavy for me to remove, and I would probably drop it and break the window in it. A swollen, water damaged small spot at its bottom edge just needs about 1/8th of an inch shaved off. This is an ingenious way to let me do the trimming myself.

This man deserves a Nobel prize!

That is such a good idea! I remember, when I was house-hunting, visiting one house that had a bad scratch on the floor because of that issue.

Hello there, what grit of sandpaper should be used pl suggest.😊
60 to 80 works well xx
@@WallyboisWoodworkingI just asked this question, sort of (I used weight instead of grit), before checking the comments. Thank you.
Very nice idea.. Well done
Thank you! Cheers!
I’m quite the novice. What sandpaper weight do you recommend?
60 grit
Nice solution 🎉
Thanks 👍
Thank you very much😊
You're welcome 😊
A like and a comment to get the views going
Cheers buddy
How do you do it with a carpet and it's the whole bottom of door and what about sides??
For that you'll need to remove the door
What grit sandpaper would you recommend?
40 or 60
Sending you a quid for that❤
I love it!!!
Thanks! That’s a great help 🙂
Ha,ha,ha! You can stick the sandpaper in place and get the wife to do the actual work!
That's a plan
for next time xx
I don't get why you identified the high spot and then cut 12mm off?
Maybe I missed something?
Sorry I don't understand
Simple ...genius
Thank you! Cheers!
That is a brillant idea😂

Thank you xxx
wow good idea
cheers buddy 🤠
Genius!!!
very smart thanks buddy
No problem 👍
If the door scrapes at odd locations on the floor does it not suggest that the floor is at fault and in need of sanding rather than your bottom?

Very true this should only be a get over until a proper fix can be done
Not much good on the shag pile though

Cheeky devils ... Thanks buddy
Brilliant! Will you marry me?!!!!
Dude..
It's just 2-3 pins. Like 20 seconds and a door is off.
True but that scares some people
@@WallyboisWoodworking
Oy because they don't know any better. A video showing them how to take the door off will educate them.

Unfortunately if it's oak it will take you several hours to sand a few mm off the bottom.. Good luck@@marshajewell4720
