How to properly install James Hardy cement board pin backs

Thank you for your question! Properly installing James Hardie cement board with pin backs is crucial to ensure long-lasting performance and I think would be a great future video so stay tuned for that.
To answer your question, here's a general overview:
      1. Ensure Proper Spacing: The boards should be spaced correctly to allow for slight movement and expansion. This also helps prevent cracks.
      2. Use the Right Fasteners: Make sure you're using corrosion-resistant fasteners like galvanized or stainless-steel nails or screws. Pin backs should be installed according to the manufacturer's guidelines.
      3. Secure Placement: Pin backs are typically used to secure the board from behind, so ensure they are spaced properly, usually 16" on center for studs. Follow James Hardie’s installation manual for exact specifications.
For detailed steps, I recommend reviewing the installation guide specific to your project, as it provides instructions tailored to different climates and building codes!

Thank you for sharing your experience with Hardie Board siding on your home. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're encountering, especially with loose boards and the need for repainting. It sounds frustrating, especially given that your home is less than ten years old.
Loose boards could indicate that there might have been an issue with the installation process, or possibly with the expansion and contraction of the siding due to temperature changes. As for the need to repaint, this could depend on several factors including the initial paint quality, exposure to harsh weather, or other environmental influences.
To address these issues, it might be helpful to first consult with a certified installer to inspect the siding and determine if there’s a need for any repairs or if there are underlying problems that need addressing. Additionally, using high-quality paint designed for fiber cement siding and ensuring proper application can extend the lifespan of the paint job.
Don’t hesitate to reach out for further assistance. We’re here to help ensure you’re satisfied with your home’s siding.
