I fully understand you, because you've described my current life.

The kind of dedication and self disciple it takes to work completely solo is the hardest part in my opinion. It is easy to convince yourself that your work is not your best or that the task is to insurmountable. I work with a friend now who does the programming while I focus on art/story/level design and when he finishes a mechanic or gets one working it keeps me motivated and reinvigorates me but before when I was trying to go solo after months of sitting in a vacuum working on your game by yourself and maybe over analyzing you really start to get a lot of self doubt about the choices you've made and how long each task is taking you and weather it will all be worth it in the end. I think when your game is done and you realize you did not have to make any consessions with your vision and you truly made the game you wanted to weather it is successful or not monetary wise you can still be very proud of what you accomplished.

Absolutely! Collaboration can be a great way to feel more connected with humanity, even if you're doing it remotely. I have collaborators for a few secret projects, and having them to connect with makes a HUGE difference during the spells where I'm feeling isolated and alone. You're right, too, in that completing something and feeling good about what you created can be really uplifting. Launching a game on Steam can be a really rough experience, even if you are happy with your project, but it does feel good to hit the finish line and look back at the cool thing you've made, then look forward to your next thing.
