- The legendary Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler joined Matt Pinfield for an in-depth interview on this episode of New & Approved.
Geezer recently released his memoir "Into the Void: From Birth to Black Sabbath―And Beyond" all about his years in Black Sabbath along with his solo career that followed. He talks with Matt about many of the wild tales that are mentioned in the book including how he met Ozzy and the rest of the band, the background of Sabbath's biggest records, boiling his bass strings, touring America for the first time, working with Ronnie James Dio, and a whole lot more.
Keep up with Geezer Butler and check out the new book here: www.geezerbutler.com/

Love how Geezer starts rubbing his nose as soon as they begin discussing Vol 4. Absolute legend.
Geezer writes great lyrics. So pertinent for today.
British saved my dad and he was taken to Liverpool where he had the best times of his life yeah!! Thanks 🎉 😊
THANKS ! Matt and Geezer
Excellent interview, Matt. You're a legendary interviewer for a reason! Yeah some things we have heard before but you asked excellent questions about the different eras and the band dynamics, you discussed different albums and tracks with great passion and detail and you gave us so much insight from Geezer! Best of all you can tell you are a real fan and it shows! Excellent interview. Geezer is a legend. Thanks!
Why is Don Rickles interviewing Geezer Butler?
Thanks Geezer, I’ll have to read your book. Sounds Cool!
Paranoid is my 1st album ever. I still got a copy around here somewhere brother Bob had Sabbath bloody Sabbath. Ever spin sweetleaf backwards? Shit weed do back in high-school. I can still roll 10 joints in a minute. Gotta light listen to the crackling of seeds and stems war pigs would make me laugh after a few bongs of Columbia gold 😊
This is David Bellamy!! Imposter.
Go out and do one more show with Bill! No fucking lawyers, no producers, no fucking Sharon!!!!! At a local small spot unannounced… just do it for fucks sake!
C'mon, Geezer, get a real computer.
With all due respect this interview was very cookie cutter. You must have been given a list of questions to ask. I say that because every Black Sabbath fan knew and old has heard these questions. Asking Geezer about “Sweet Leaf” and what is was about? I was hoping to hear something new that hasn’t been asked to death. “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” underrated?
You realize he probably has a boss, and also Geezer may not want to discuss certain things. Would be nice to ask how much coke he sniffed off strippers tits, while recording "Lord of this World", doesn't work like that unfortunately
Symptom Of The Universe has nothing to do with "the birth of punk". WTF? You probably think NWA belongs in the RNRHOF too. What a bunch of bullshit!
This guy can’t interview, nothing of substance,I know sabbath, more than this guy..everything he asks everyone already knows!!!
A minute and 58 seconds in I was sea sick, gotta split...! I'll try next time around or maybe y'all can supply us with some sea sick pills, Peace out
