    Terex acquired O&K in 1998. Bucyrus took over Terex Mining in 2010, and Caterpillar acquired Bucyrus International in 2011. During the acquisition Cat revamped their model names so in actuality the RH-400 is the same machine as the 6090 FS, just with a new model number.

    Thanks for posting this video. These machines have had various names as corporate purchases changed their owner, but they still rock! It is an awesome collection of engineering triumphs, to get that much power applied to a hardened bucket, and it impresses everyone who learns about it.

    That shovel is parked right now awaiting a four and half million dollar retrofit. Under carriage and center pin I believe.

    The CAT truck? The tires are about 18-20 feet tall, like the Terex version. I have a pic of my dad standing next to a Terex the same size. He is 6'4". Two of him can fit in the circumference, with room to spare. They are AWESOME to stand next to! Just ginormous!

  • @vantagetes

    No it's not because it doesn't exist. If you mean EX-8000 it's still not bigger. 40m3 bucket and 894 tons and 3880hp vs the RH-400 (now the CAT 6090 FS) 52m3 bucket and 1080 ton operating weight with 4500hp.

    Actually "blind side loading" is in reference to the cab of the SHOVEL. The trucks are coming in on the shovels blind side, due to the mine running left/right spotting. First truck gets loaded on the left side of the shovel and the second truck lines up with the right side (alternating). Generally trucks should self spot to make this efficient however every mine has their own safety rules. Can't back in unless spotted, or have to load cab side only etc.

    well the cab is on the other side of the truck. makes a huge blind spot backing in on the opposite side. safety issue more than anything. but im sure the shovel operator is spotting them in and talking to them as they back in.

  • @211210nik
    @211210nik 11 років тому

    Depends. Komatsu shovels the cab is on the other side. Our site we stick to on side as much as we can, only to help the truckies. But if we want to be pricks or need to we will load blind side. Truckies should be good enoungh to under, no spotter needed.

  • @jamesiec61

  • @vantagetes
    @vantagetes 11 років тому +1

    *facepalm* go back and read my comment again. EVERY MINE HAS THEIR OWN SET OF SAFETY RULES specific to their company. Some allow self spotting (zero wait time on loading tool as there's always a truck sitting beside waiting to be loaded), some (this video for example) allow dual loading but require the trucks to be spotted, and some you have to load cab side only. Again these rules are MINE SPECIFIC, and sometimes vary by loading tool as well.

    Hypocrisy.Do you drive a vehicle,use plastic or power?yes? I will call you a hypocrite.Gas comes from oil, 60% of Alberta's oil goes into products such as plastic,45% of North Americas power come from mined coal.
    You have some kind of computer or smart phone?These are riddled with mined precious metals such as gold,platinum,copper Not to mention the plastics.
