I lost my dear, sweet daughter, Tracy, on her twenty-eighth birthday last March 5. She was born with forty-seven chromosomes in each of her cells (Down syndrome), and she never hurt anyone nor did she have a mean bone in her body. She was the third of my children who preceded me in death. I take great solace in the absolute knowledge that I will see them again soon.
I remember as a child singing this hymn in church, and telling my grandmother standing next to me that it was my favorite. She put her arm around me as we sang it that time. I haven't heard it in over 40 years. It still moves me.
There is nothing irrational or silly about it. There are tears streaming down my face right now. It is because our souls recognise the Truth of this beautiful song of praise to God.
Isaiah 6:1-3 King James Version (KJV) 6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Revelation 4:8 “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”

What a blessing to have such memories to reflect upon. Thank you for sharing your comment here today. May the peace and joy of the Lord be with you and your grandmother.
Praise the Lord God Almighty! For he has blessed you and me, and the whole earth. He loved us enough to send his only son down to die on the cross for us! Give praise and give thanks to the Lord Almighty! For I have sinned, but the Lord has forgiven my sins. This song has lifted my spirits tonight, and I thank you. I pray that God will bless the earth and that one day all will come to know him as the Lord God Almighty! Amen

Ed, It's been three years since your commentary, but know that with each reading you have more people praying for you, remembering and praying for your children, and praising God even for the times that are rough, for He loves us through it all. Our pain never escapes Him and only He can turn tragedy into solace and loss into gain. Your faith has made us love you. God Bless You.
Praise the Lord's name, for he loves us. He confirms us in the Holy Spirit in which it protects us and loves until no end. He is gone, but always present in our hearts, minds, souls, thoughts and prayers. He is smiling from Heaven and praising us. God Bless all of you.
Oh, you are most welcome, Phillip. It is a joy and a privilege for me to share this with folks like you. Thank you very much for your very kind and thoughtful words. May the blessings of the Lord be with you as well, my friend.

In memory of my Grandma, Mary C. Semler. I would go to church with her when I was a little boy and I loved hearing her sing this.
I searched for this hymn and found many versions, but this is the best and purest. Thank you!
i bet we will all sing this song in heaven one day.
I know it's irrational and silly, but there's something about this hymn that makes tears stream down my face.
"happy cry"

9 years later makes sense now huh brother
That response is rationality defined.

Woke up this morning with this song running through my heart and mind. So grateful people post these great old hymns for others to enjoy! Thank you.
My grandmother had a pianola and we would put this hymn on it and pedal away. It is one of my favourites many years later. The words are amazing.
Nice to hear the traditional version without being ruined with modern rendition.
Praise God.
For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and of Love and a soundmind.
Amen
