@@JJtoutcourt your main base where u spawn. so there are 4 on a 4 player map. taking the lower ground expansion allows u to easily take the higher ground main base expo cuz its already defended.
Jaedong the savvy veteran knows how to deal with those drops. I've never seen someone nullify drops so easily that was impressive! After the valkyrie i thought royal (w/cheese) had this game easily won...royal fumbled this one big time
What i've heard out of a stream and bit of my own deduction of why zerg lands their third on the low ground is for these reasons. First, is that the third starts earlier, therefore the benefits of it comes earlier aswell, secondly is looking for the chance of terran to miss the spotting the third with the first scan, as for deafult they scan on the natural location or the closest to the main base, this hopefully delays the expected harass or timing attack and ensuring a defense with a sunken and lurkers, which is equal or a better defense than only lurkers on the ramp as you cant place sunkens close to the ramp when you build the hatchery on the high ground. Terran needs too much marine ball to break through that set up on the low ground as in that moment of the game they do not have enough marine force to overwhelm it. Thirds reason is kinda of player dependant as the meta on tvz has changed and there are some terran that go heavy on a timing dropships attacks and is way easier to handle the third when on low ground than deep on to the natural spawn location because the lurkers are covering the entrance that is pretty close to the mineral line, while on the high ground between the ramp and the mineral line is a much larger distance and in those few seconds can make a huge difference of the outcome of the harass. Love your content, Keep it up!
Royal was not playing like an ASL winner.. his drops were terribly coordinated, his battlecruisers were not supported, and his SK Terran was sloppy. Either he was off his game, or Jaedong just countered him perfectly everytime.
Man, it's been a long time since we've seen an SK terran win against zergs... Even Flash can't win anymore :( And you said Royal cheese ? I thought americans said quarter ponder with cheese, I saw it in Pulp Fiction :D
Spoilers. Duuh. STOP. STOP DOING THESE THINGS: STOP making only one group of Valkyries that die when not covering your infantry, and never getting replaced, thus conceding air control to Zerg. - Keep them with your infantry instead to make them unteachable to Zerg air. STOP dropping hap-hazard in the middle of the enemy's base with no scanning to scout, over and over. - Drop on high-ground where there's openings and push in from there with science vessel support to snipe defilers if you have to, falling back to infantry to pop the scourge. STOP making firebats only AFTER you have been dealing with dark-cloud and plague. - They roast ling very well and would ONLY care about them when ling/muta comes around early. STOP running your science vessels ahead on their own right into obvious scourge without scouting. - Keep them near the infantry to let them gun down scourge instead. AND FFS STOP making battlecruisers without Yamato and sending them alone or in pairs or trios to die alone to plague and scourge - send them WITH your infantry WITH yamato WITH energy and use them to pop mutas, scourge, and yamato ultras when they come along. I am not a pro-level Terran player, but Royal, Flash etc. are. HOW are these mistakes being done over and over in these matches every time?
While not as annoying as some of the other games, part of the entertainment of this video was watching how badly Royal played. All aspects of his gameplay was terrible. Failed rush on 3rd. Total failure on first big drop. Total fail on the following four or five drops. Disastrous use of BC. Yeah, make two, start buzzing around the Zerg and get three drones (150 minerals) for the cost of 400/300 X2 and then do it again but X3. Shocker that he got plagued! By the end of the game I was actually rooting for the Zerg. Royal should get dropped down to gold for that loss. If SC1 had leagues. Great casting as always.
Yeah, he played poorly in this game for sure, as he did after winning his first ASL. He did qualify for the first SSL recently, and made it through the first group stage, so we'll see if he can make it through Group Stage 2! liquipedia.net/starcraft/SOOP/StarCraft_League/2024/AUTUMN
Soop Starcraft League is truly a heinous rebrand. Not only because it sounds like "soup", but also because it just means "Forest". EDIT: At 11 minutes, instead of zoning mutas with valks and dropping behind the 3rd base, Royal decided to drop where the lurkers and scourges were which basically killed his chances.
@@JJ-Toreddie Afreeca was also indeed a terrible name. One would think that after more than 2 decades they'd figure out a good name when they decide on a rebranding, but nope.

stonewall defense!
It should always be known as "Boxer Maneuver"
royal was role playing as General Duke
LOLA!
Lmaooo

5:41 taking the low ground natural gives free and easier access to the high ground spawn expo. It's high risk for high reward
What is a spawn expo ?

Jaedong's defense was insane
So, again.... If you take the empty NATURAL EXPAND first, then the empty MAIN BASE is already defended at the front when you take it.
Amazing game!! Just one successful drop can change anything, defense need to be perfectly on point.
I finally got to see what going "on tilt" in Brood War looks like

A clever way to avoid the early scan, which will almost always be at the main
wooot

Top tier winner match.
The Buggies must have used cheat codes!
Lol, the 7 kills on the last BC were probably scourge hits!

Preach! I will say it's hard to do all of these things, all the time, WHILE macroing and expanding and scouting, etc. etc. It's tough out there.
Please stop rewinding the replay as your casting
