It actually is nice when villain characters decide to reform themselves, shows that there’s more to them then being bad guys. Honestly wish we could see more of it and for comics to follow through with it
norman went good for a while cause his goblin essence was removed from him then there was a recent story where peter accidentally got goblins essence and went evil but was returned to normal when norman took it back. all in all it was an obvious set up to make norman evil again.
It’s not a new thing regardless, and everyone keeps going back and forth saying a villain simply being a villain is fun but it’s boring when there’s no complexity or redemption, but then if a villain reforms they’re “boring” to some, people are really confusing when it comes to criticism.
Well just Jonah Jameson doesn't accept spiderman so idk. Also Jonah on spiderman confuses me because in the first game peter confirms Jameson is the one to call him amazing and spectacular but.... he hates spidey.

Not a bad thing. Being a bad person just to see the world burning is not relatable. People normally turn to being evil because they disagree with something and just choose the wrong way to portray how they feel. They are not necessarily by heart. Thats relatable.
In spider man most of the villains are victims of circumstance much like spidey himself is. And while they do bad things for reasons they feel are justified, its not (usually) like johnny from cyberpunk 2077 just killing tens of thousands of people for his girlfriend during the night city nuke. I think their deeds make at least some of them not too far gone. And lets be honest in spideys life? He could really use something going his way for once. Throwing people in prison forever doesnt usually do much compared to rehabilitation...though again not everyone should be

If Spidey makes that choice, or lets someone else make that choice outside of the law, then that is Peter deciding he has the right to decide who deserves to live, and that goes beyond the well-meaning criminality of vigilanteism and into the actual immoral field of rampant murder. Cletus might be the biggest argument against somebody being allowed to live, but it's not the responsibility or authority of an unelected vigilante to put people to death.

That’s not how it works, plus both miles and Peter have had their canon events. Peter lost aunt may and uncle Ben and miles lost his dad and his friend phin. Those were their canon events.
Tombstone is still my favorite to this day, I LOVED him in the first game cause of his funny back and forth banter with Peter, they were like brothers. I’m happy they didn’t sour it in the second game and made him reform, it’s very lovely and nice to see villains like this reform for the better.
Aye it’s beautifully done and legit makes these guys all feel like real characters. I like huskie Lonnie as anyone would but Lonnie the theme park attendant is awesome too.
I’ll be honest: I was actually half-expecting Blackcat to be manipulating Miles. I recall the first game where she gets Peter to help her in a heist by claiming her non-existent son was in trouble, so when Felicia pulls the “my girlfriend is in trouble” card I was just as suspicious as Miles.
yeah, me too, but after she gave the wand back to miles, i kind of changed my mind. if she really was just going to steal stuff, she would have kept the wand, but she didn’t. i still don’t trust her, but if i were spider-man, i wouldn’t want to risk felicia and her girlfriend’s life, so i would still try to help her escape.
Honestly, regardless if she was playing him or not, getting her to Paris was the right move. It kept her safe. Though I'm still not sure why the hunters wanted her in the first place. She doesn't have any powers or anything, she's just a good theif. I don't see how she'd be a good hunt.

If nothing else Kraven would probably have a harder time tracking her than any of the other villains, which could let her get the jump on him. That said, she probably wouldn't be able to actually kill him even if that were the case, so yeah I'm not sure what the Hunters' plan was with Felicia.

I love that they made a point to include this with multiple characters. So many times, writers try to be edgy and leave things ambiguous as far as “does the hero thing actually reform anyone or fix anything?” This goes to show that people CAN be helped. It might take a lot more time and patience compared to the “easy way” of killing them or throwing them in jail for life without parole but Spider-Man makes it work.

There was also that mission w/ Black Cat where we were at the Sanctum Sanctorum and that letter from Wong, so we know for a fact Doctor Strange is nearby. There's also Miles' Forever suit (RIP Chadwick). And we have that Wolverine game coming up, and where there's Wolverine, the X-Men are right behind him. And of course, Avengers tower. During the Symbiote takeover of this game and Devil's Breath in the first game, I just thought: "Where the Hell are the Avengers?!? Where's SHIELD? X-Men? Daredevil? Fantastic Four? ANYBODY?!? Do Peter and now Miles really have to do all this on their own?!"
I like the direction Spider-Man 2 went with the villains. Either they are reformed or murdered by Kraven. At this point, they had no reason to be evil, so they had to decide whether or not to live or die
Scorpion, Electro, Vulture, and Shocker never got a chance to reform. Just got killed off one by one as prey Kraven was insane throughout the game. His desire to find a fight that could actually kill him in a proper fight led him to cause tons of damage Venom was a proper monster in the final third of the game, even outside of his damage done along with physical feats, he was actually quite manipulative to both Harry and Pete, filling their minds with who, or what they want to hear, but twisted in ways so that Vrnom gets to be in control. While this type of Venom is not unheard of in Spider-man, this version has some incredibly defining points for such, like him tricking Harry with voices of his mom at her gravestone. For all the other villains. They have shown to properly reform themselves, have shown steps into doing so, or have even shown some ease in their villainous sides We also have Chameleon and Cleetus, but we'll have to wait for the next game/dlc/expansion game(Miles Morales) to see what they do
Black Cat didn't really "reform" herself, she's always been looking out only for herself. Yes, I'm aware she stole the magic rod thingy to save her girlfriend, but she admitted that she's the one that got her into trouble in the first place. Kinda like how she got Spiderman intertwined in her trouble with Hammerhead in the previous game when she lied to him about having a kid. Plus, she agreed that MJ told Miles not to trust her.
Remember that Black cat lied about the son of peter, she could lie easly about a romantic relationship to get what she wants in paris (which maybe it's a great plan to rob the mona lisa or more).
This whole game is about overcoming your darkest self. So glad this applies to everyone and not just the spidermen. Well except Kraven but we all know what happened to Kraven
Kraven didn't have long to live, so he decided to do what he does best, hunt meta-humans with powers so that one of them would give him a dignified death.
This is what heroes are about. Helping an innocent being assaulted? From the moral pov, its easy. But giving a chance for people who did bad stuff to change? Thats the hard part. Ofc not all will change, but if they can help even one to do so, then its worth it. Thats what makes a hero what they are.

Its really nice to see humanization of the villains outside of just being the bad guy you know especially tombstone i was very happy to see him reformed cause i imagine not feeling pain effects you and when spidey sort of cured him i imagine it felt like a weight being lifted off his chest so to speak also i can 100% see him opening a bike shop. I think that's why i really love spiderman's villains is that they are human
When I saw Tombstone helping that cart driver, I was chanting "Tombstone, Tombstone, Tombstone, Tombstone, Tombstone" like hyping up a wrestler. It's a really wholesome thing to see someone like him turn his life around like that.
I mean dude is a pretty good guy to work on anything mechanical due to his invulnerability plus hey he gets to watch people race on stuff he probably fixes up
Tombstone is the last person I would ever have expected to go good, but you know what? Good for him. He’s definitely got that old salt sort of vibe, someone that’s been part of the community for some time and finally got over his selfish impulses and wanted to give back.

besides the villains i feel like miles needed this as a budding new superhero, he gets to see what can happen when him and pete fight to stop them from doing any more evil and give them a chance to reform. i think that gives miles more of a reason to continue doing what he does. and something about what mysterio said kinda hits hard, of all of them i wish him the best

Really love how some of these villains are being reformed and turning into a new leaf. Goes to show that there is another choice and the only thing that makes you believe their isn't is yourself.
I actually really like seeing that the second chances peter gave these guys didn't go to waste they actually found ways to escape their old ways to try and make themselves better.
I mean that's what revenge can blind people I think 2 years in the cell does mellow him down plus realized what's he's done especially Aunt May who he genuinely cared for even in the first game
the sandman part was one of the saddest. as it reminds me of last day's of sandman in where he was barely keeping himself together and was slowly loosing all of his memories. and spidey took him to the last place he wanted to go before he died.
well duh, movie only can have 2~3 hours max duration to tell the story.... meanwhile game it can build up story to the climax and still get good ending for 20++ hours gameplay you can't compare movie to a videogame

@@nicoary3677the odd thing is that one thing we can compare is the writing the spider man games and the mcu spidey films. In general I find that in these games, there are better set pieces, defining moments and moments of fanservice that seamlessly blend in with the story. All of which is also applied in movies but aren’t executed nearly as well imo. Aunt May’s death for example was way better in the ps4 game because she was more of a guardian, grandmother like figure while also being Pete’s only living relative which made her death all the more impactful. While the movies had an entire trilogy to flesh out her character but only really showed her onscreen a bit in the first movie with Happy as her love interest, and made her an actual guardian figure in the third movie. Plus the way her death was staged in the game was way way better than in the movie, which kind of felt like a weird mash of uncle Ben and the ps4 game. Just my 2 cents tho.

The only villian that would be hard to redeem is Cletus Kassidy. At least with Norman Osborne its just a split personality but he has some redeeming qualities.
Cletus is actually genuinely evil. The man was a serial killer who takes pleasure in murder even BEFORE he became Carnage. You can't redeem a psychopath because they have no moral compass.

This is the one part Sweet Baby Inc did right (if it was their idea at all). Sympathy for those who need it is Spider-Man's thing, and having this progressive mindset implemented into an actual superhero setting just works.
the moral to this entire game and watching villains during the Devil’s Breath Era (and some unspoken villains) is that when you help someone you help everyone. I’m yet to play this game bc i don’t have a ps5 but it’s clear that they’re driving that lesson for all villains. I hope to see more villains learn from their mistakes. Maybe not Otto but it would be interesting to see Scorpion, Electro, Vulture, or Rhino change their ways.

@@drewleer7854 My honest assessment of Tombstone from the first game way that he did what he did more for the thrill and the challenges he faced rather than for any other reason. He even stated that his fear of death would just make the challenge greater and more enjoyable. Funnily enough, he and Peter seem to be capable of having casual conversations even in the heat of battle which is honestly more amicable than most of the people Peter faces.

At any rate, I did say more than most people not more than everyone. I know certain people such as Fisk. Rhino, and Scorpion for example who really don't like him too much. So, Peter and Tombstone do have some downright casual conversations compared to some of the people who make it clear they would like to crush him like the arachnid he is named after.
To be honest.. I can definitely see all these guys again to help both Peter and Miles against the Green Goblin and his new Sinister Six in the final battle for Spider-Man 3..
Villain reforms can be done right! This was all good stuff as it shows a humans will to change. Not every villain needs to reform as most are irredeemable. My personal favourite villain reforms in comics would be Magneto in Claremont’s X-Men and Sandman in the late 80s to early 90s where he had a short stint as an avengers
While I dont think this game is the best I wont deny it has show how some of Peter's worst villians turned their lives around and started to help out society with thier abilities and to me thats very sweet and shows that Spider Man isn't a ruthless monster as he believes his villians can change and become good people.
The thing that gets me with the black cat reformation is that in miles mission she says that she has a girlfriend but then in a later mission at the end when miles, Peter and black cat are on a call and then she says to Peter that she's moved on then changes the gender of her partner to he, which makes me think black cat's back on her bs.
I wouldn’t say felicia has reformed, she fled the country to get away from kraven but she did give a lead on tombstones whereabouts which was good on her part. still we don’t know her true intentions though. Mysterio being good now came as the biggest shocker to me

I wouldnt say that Prowler and Black Cat were straight up villains. They were more neutral. Prowler did what he did to protect Miles and Black Cat did what she did out of selfish reasons. Sure you can say being selfish is something "evil" but I wouldnt say so. I think the collateral damage is what matters in these stories.
I imagine that Spider-Man 3 will be going the Goblin Nation route. With Norman or Harry becoming Goblin and wanting to infect the entire city. Peter will more than likely focus on taking down Goblin alone and Miles will be trying to keep the rest of the city safe alongside the reformed villains.
I can totally see Norman becoming the goblin that will be on the glider at first but as the story progresses he will evolve and mutate into the hulking ultimate storyline goblin for the final battle.
Doubt some of the other villains will ever change, especially Goblin & Kingpin. Looking forward for Venom to becoming less of a villain, and more of a hero in the new Venom game.
It could temporarily become "good" depending on the user, but the Venom itself aren't human they don't have conscience, they do everything for survival.

It’s possible that some of those who were affected may also still have it. Besides, the Symbiote has survived a lot worse than any antidote. And it’s already confirmed that a Venom game is in the works, and aside from Eddie Brock, Carnage, and all the Symbiote Siblings, I’m hoping Knull is in this game, since he’s the one who created the Symbiote in the first place.
The kart scene at the start reminds me and gives me PTSD when i crashed my BMW M3 GTR in a canyon. I bet Tombstone can fix that BMW M3 GTR for the player.

She lied to Peter for power making him believe he was a father, remember that when she stole the last USB if she really had a son, he would have gone with Peter to look into the containers, now she stole magic for a reason, if she wanted to go to France illegally and fast she could have stolen money and faked a passport, that must be very easy for a super villain, there's ton of high value art in France and even if Peter had a point on not him talking to Felicia, she's lied and manipulated people ton of times because she's thirsty for power, manipulating Miles was easier for her even with the obstacle that she knows he must be in contact with MJ and Peter even if she was right about Miles having to make his own choices, she made up the fact that she has a gf to steal more and more.
Unlike Batman villains most of the people in Spidey's rogues gallery are just people who are actually capable of changing their ways. That's what makes them so relatable and realistic.

In the game Injustice 2 Harley Quinn was working with Batman to save people. The main reason these characters keep coming back as villains is so we the audience can watch Batman defeat them

Tombstone is still my favorite to this day, I LOVED him in the first game cause of his funny back and forth banter with Peter, they were like brothers.
I’m happy they didn’t sour it in the second game and made him reform, it’s very lovely and nice to see villains like this reform for the better.

I’ll be honest: I was actually half-expecting Blackcat to be manipulating Miles. I recall the first game where she gets Peter to help her in a heist by claiming her non-existent son was in trouble, so when Felicia pulls the “my girlfriend is in trouble” card I was just as suspicious as Miles.
yeah, me too, but after she gave the wand back to miles, i kind of changed my mind. if she really was just going to steal stuff, she would have kept the wand, but she didn’t.

Honestly, regardless if she was playing him or not, getting her to Paris was the right move. It kept her safe.

If nothing else Kraven would probably have a harder time tracking her than any of the other villains, which could let her get the jump on him. I love that they made a point to include this with multiple characters. So many times, writers try to be edgy and leave things ambiguous as far as “does the hero thing actually reform anyone or fix anything?” This goes to show that people CAN be helped. It might take a lot more time and patience compared to the “easy way” of killing them or throwing them in jail for life without parole but Spider-Man makes it work.

I like the direction Spider-Man 2 went with the villains. Either they are reformed or murdered by Kraven. At this point, they had no reason to be evil, so they had to decide whether or not to live or die

Kraven was insane throughout the game. His desire to find a fight that could actually kill him in a proper fight led him to cause tons of damage
Venom was a proper monster in the final third of the game, even outside of his damage done along with physical feats, he was actually quite manipulative to both Harry and Pete, filling their minds with who, or what they want to hear, but twisted in ways so that Vrnom gets to be in control. While this type of Venom is not unheard of in Spider-man, this version has some incredibly defining points for such, like him tricking Harry with voices of his mom at her gravestone.
For all the other villains. They have shown to properly reform themselves, have shown steps into doing so, or have even shown some ease in their villainous sides
We also have Chameleon and Cleetus, but we'll have to wait for the next game/dlc/expansion game(Miles Morales) to see what they do

Black Cat didn't really "reform" herself, she's always been looking out only for herself. Yes, I'm aware she stole the magic rod thingy to save her girlfriend, but she admitted that she's the one that got her into trouble in the first place. Kinda like how she got Spiderman intertwined in her trouble with Hammerhead in the previous game when she lied to him about having a kid. Plus, she agreed that MJ told Miles not to trust her.

Its really nice to see humanization of the villains outside of just being the bad guy you know especially tombstone i was very happy to see him reformed cause i imagine not feeling pain effects you and when spidey sort of cured him i imagine it felt like a weight being lifted off his chest so to speak also i can 100% see him opening a bike shop. the sandman part was one of the saddest. as it reminds me of last day's of sandman in where he was barely keeping himself together and was slowly loosing all of his memories. and spidey took him to the last place he wanted to go before he died.

This definitely allows for Miles Morales to be a street level hero and for Peter Parker’s Spider-Man to go on larger adventures.
When you realize the videogame Spiderman has a better story than the movie Spiderman, except SITSV

@@nicoary3677the odd thing is that one thing we can compare is the writing the spider man games and the mcu spidey films. In general I find that in these games, there are better set pieces, defining moments and moments of fanservice that seamlessly blend in with the story. All of which is also applied in movies but aren’t executed nearly as well imo. Aunt May’s death for example was way better in the ps4 game because she was more of a guardian, grandmother like figure while also being Pete’s only living relative which made her death all the more impactful. While the movies had an entire trilogy to flesh out her character but only really showed her onscreen a bit in the first movie with Happy as her love interest, and made her an actual guardian figure in the third movie. Plus the way her death was staged in the game was way way better than in the movie, which kind of felt like a weird mash of uncle Ben and the ps4 game. Just my 2 cents tho.

This is the one part Sweet Baby Inc did right (if it was their idea at all). Sympathy for those who need it is Spider-Man's thing, and having this progressive mindset implemented into an actual superhero setting just works.
I’m just glad that the villains who deserved to be redeemed were,it shows that even the worst of the villains have good deep inside them
the moral to this entire game and watching villains during the Devil’s Breath Era (and some unspoken villains) is that when you help someone you help everyone. I’m yet to play this game bc i don’t have a ps5 but it’s clear that they’re driving that lesson for all villains. I hope to see more villains learn from their mistakes. Maybe not Otto but it would be interesting to see Scorpion, Electro, Vulture, or Rhino change their ways.

He even stated that his fear of death would just make the challenge greater and more enjoyable. Funnily enough, he and Peter seem to be capable of having casual conversations even in the heat of battle which is honestly more amicable than most of the people Peter faces.

So, Peter and Tombstone do have some downright casual conversations compared to some of the people who make it clear they would like to crush him like the arachnid he is named after.
To be honest.. I can definitely see all these guys again to help both Peter and Miles against the Green Goblin and his new Sinister Six in the final battle for Spider-Man 3..
Villain reforms can be done right! This was all good stuff as it shows a humans will to change. Not every villain needs to reform as most are irredeemable. My personal favourite villain reforms in comics would be Magneto in Claremont’s X-Men and Sandman in the late 80s to early 90s where he had a short stint as an avengers
While I dont think this game is the best I wont deny it has show how some of Peter's worst villians turned their lives around and started to help out society with thier abilities and to me thats very sweet and shows that Spider Man isn't a ruthless monster as he believes his villians can change and become good people.
The thing that gets me with the black cat reformation is that in miles mission she says that she has a girlfriend but then in a later mission at the end when miles, Peter and black cat are on a call and then she says to Peter that she's moved on then changes the gender of her partner to he, which makes me think black cat's back on her bs.
I honestly did not expect people like Tombstone wanting to turn his life around. I get sandman, I get Felicia, but I didn’t get tombstone lol
I wouldn’t say felicia has reformed, she fled the country to get away from kraven but she did give a lead on tombstones whereabouts which was good on her part. still we don’t know her true intentions though.

I wouldnt say that Prowler and Black Cat were straight up villains. They were more neutral. Prowler did what he did to protect Miles and Black Cat did what she did out of selfish reasons. Sure you can say being selfish is something "evil" but I wouldnt say so. I think the collateral damage is what matters in these stories.
Spiderman 3 is going to be interested. I can alot of villains will help Spiderman with green goblin.
I imagine that Spider-Man 3 will be going the Goblin Nation route. With Norman or Harry becoming Goblin and wanting to infect the entire city. Peter will more than likely focus on taking down Goblin alone and Miles will be trying to keep the rest of the city safe alongside the reformed villains.

I can totally see Norman becoming the goblin that will be on the glider at first but as the story progresses he will evolve and mutate into the hulking ultimate storyline goblin for the final battle.

Doubt some of the other villains will ever change, especially Goblin & Kingpin.
Looking forward for Venom to becoming less of a villain, and more of a hero in the new Venom game.
It could temporarily become "good" depending on the user, but the Venom itself aren't human they don't have conscience, they do everything for survival.

@@Firegodzilla19 That doesn’t mean it still won’t happen. Remember, Peter had some Symbiote that was still dormant inside of him. It’s possible that some of those who were affected may also still have it. Besides, the Symbiote has survived a lot worse than any antidote. And it’s already confirmed that a Venom game is in the works, and aside from Eddie Brock, Carnage, and all the Symbiote Siblings, I’m hoping Knull is in this game, since he’s the one who created the Symbiote in the first place.

She lied to Peter for power making him believe he was a father, remember that when she stole the last USB if she really had a son, he would have gone with Peter to look into the containers, now she stole magic for a reason, if she wanted to go to France illegally and fast she could have stolen money and faked a passport, that must be very easy for a super villain, there's ton of high value art in France and even if Peter had a point on not him talking to Felicia, she's lied and manipulated people ton of times because she's thirsty for power, manipulating Miles was easier for her even with the obstacle that she knows he must be in contact with MJ and Peter even if she was right about Miles having to make his own choices, she made up the fact that she has a gf to steal more and more.

Unlike Batman villains most of the people in Spidey's rogues gallery are just people who are actually capable of changing their ways. That's what makes them so relatable and realistic.
Batman villains are capable of reform too. Most of them are mentally ill and in need of help

In the game Injustice 2 Harley Quinn was working with Batman to save people. The main reason these characters keep coming back as villains is so we the audience can watch Batman defeat them
