It's not video that's 100% related to hiking, but it is related to the outdoors, the environment and who I am. I hope you enjoy a glimpse into my home life.
Nice spread ! We had a rural property in Maple Ridge for about 15 year but have sold it and bought another one in NS were I’ll retire small house on acreage with a creek and 5 min walk to 3 lakes , 4 streams stuffed with brook trout and no one in site. I’ve been clearing up some of the old birch trees to reduce the canopy on the back section to give all the pine saplings a chance We’re the same way can spend so many satisfying days working on the yard.
Hi Martin, you live in the best place I can possibly imagine. Canada, New Zealand and probably some areas of Scandinavia are the very last places where you can enjoy an healthy life in the countryside and the luxury of civilization and security. Unfortunately a rare combination nowadays.
Beautiful acreage! I agree totally on having an acreage outside town totally relaxes you out. Just bought one myself and my wife and I are moving out of Calgary to enjoy some of the peace and quiet.
When ever I tried to let pieces of lawn go back to nature, all I got was burrs and thistles. I do mow around a new tree if I can, Also leave many of the wild flowers alone to seed out.
@@Martyupnorth I planted a redwood and sequoia in my yard in Mpls and had a very cold winter. The redwood died, but sequoia did just fine. Same tree species as redwood, but they live in high sierra mtns in cold and lots of snow. Worth a try!
@@scottwarner2827I tried growing a sequoia but had to bring it in for the winter because it is too cold here in Calgary. But the sad thing is that a rabbit wrecked it. I guess I will have to start a new one from seed
I heard if you want water to stay in your pond sprinkle bentonite clay around where you want the pond... Just thought I'd share. Seems like lots of videos on it...

I spent a few years working in NS. Beautiful, but I'm a mountain guy.

Nice video! You did a super job with your property. Love your fire pit and wood lean-to.
Your lucky to have this property, its beautiful, spacious.. wow 👌
Very cool. Thanks for sharing
I'm surprised at all the positives comments. I uploaded this mostly for myself, and didn't expect people to actually enjoy it. Cheers.
Looks great! Thanks for sharing your beautiful property Marty!
Absolutely beautiful! L9ve love love the trees!
Can totally attest! Having a few beers and/or a fire in Marty's backyard is indeed a chill session
My acreage doesn't compare to some of the chill places you, JT, Evan, and I have had beers. Here's to many more miles on the trail my friend.
Beautiful property Marty, thank you for sharing!
What a delight to watch this, Marty. I would love to see some of your garden pickings. Are you thinking of retiring somewhere warmer?
Lovely!
Beautiful spread you have there Marty. A lot of effort and i'm sure love went into it. God bless.
Very nice ! A lot of work, but your enjoying the benefits of that work. Cheers !

Gorgeous property.
Nice video Marty. I like the idea of not mowing all your grass in straight lines and letting the shoots grow.
Breathtaking!
You have a lovely spot there, Marty!
Thank you.

Great property! Should plant a Sequoia tree or two to see how tall they’ll grow.
I wish I could, but I think our winters are too cold.

Actually, there are straight lines in nature... You just have to look for them.
Thanks for the video...
