I know this is a super old video, but what is that layered armor?? It's gorgeous, I want it.
Edit: Also, amazing job! I never fought the tempered furious rajang because the regular one was tough as it was... I can't believe how fast they made it. Great job, beautiful fight!
Double Edit: I swear I'm seeing you dodge and block while dodging... what am I missing?

While blocking press any direction and hit the y/triangle button. Perfect for multiple hits so you don't get chipped out trying to hyper guard.

@@jakemoore5077 my god, almost 600 hours in this game, probably half of it with the lance, and I only pressed block + counter thrust, I never pressed the other one mid lance thrusts.... why isn't this listed as a button input at the top of the screen like everything else, good lord. Thank you!

I sincerely apologize for not responding to you! I think the notification for your comment was pushed downward from my other uploads, so I didn't read your comment until today when Jake Moore thankfully addressed your question. He is totally correct about Guard Dashes, and I hope that you find the new technique useful.
Finally, here is the layered armour loadout that I was using:
      *Head:* Crystal Earring Layered Armour
      *Chest:* Kulve Taroth's Ire β+
      *Arms:* Thermae Layered Cuffs
      *Waist:* Buff Waist α+
      *Feet:* Kulve Taroth's Wrath α+
The brightness of the Kulve Taroth's Wrath α+ colour will have to be lowered slightly to match the chest piece, because for some reason they do not match when the colour is copied and pasted from the chest to the waist. Enjoy, Tapion!

@@Tapion013 As you're learning Guard Dashes, you might find the follow-ups to it a bit confusing and counter-intuitive, since it only allows for a Shield Bash or Leaping Thrust afterward.
This comment I responded to last October might provide some guidance for you:
      www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterMeta/comments/jtqux4/lance_issues_power_guard/gcb0qe8?context=3
      *The poster **_owenw52_** asked this:*
"I am relying too much on counter pokes and PG to deal damage and not using guard dash as much as I should. But sometimes guard dash can be tricky to defend yourself after you use it. What do you follow up with guard dash? I am using shield slap into pokes but I feel like I’m wide open when I do this, and leaping thrust is plain weak and eats sharpness"
      *And this was my response:*
"Guard Dash follow-ups are a complicated topic, so I will again try my best to make it understandable. Following a Guard Dash, the follow-up you choose depends on your desired positioning.
Here are the four follow-up options following a Guard Dash and when you should use each of them.
*1. Hold Guard and continue to block:*
This is the option that you may be forgetting. Following a Guard Dash you are free to block for as long as you want just by holding Guard. Use this if you are anticipating an attack after your Guard Dash. Hopefully this helps your fear of feeling too wide open after a Guard Dash.
      *2. Leaping Thrust:*
Use the Leaping Thrust if you would like to extend the distance of your Guard Dash while getting in a hit. Leaping Thrust is not necessarily weak: its Motion Value (MV) is 8 * 3 = 24; Mid Thrust I/II have a MV of 20 and High Thrust I/II have a MV of 22. This means that if all three hits of Leaping Thrust connect, they are stronger than either of your two basic thrusts. Furthermore, Leaping Thrust replaces Mid Thrust I or High Thrust I in the combo, meaning that you combo into Mid Thrust II or High Thrust II immediately following a Leaping Thrust. This is good because it allows you to reach the strongest Mid/High Thrust III in approximately the same amount of time as three basic thrusts.
Leaping Thrust can also be used to traverse medium distances by chaining Guard Dash > Leaping Thrust > Repeat. This can be done infinitely and restores your stamina during the Leaping Thrust. The speed of this traversal is roughly the same as Level 1 Charge.
Note that this traversal method trips your teammates (Leaping Thrust requires Flinch Free 3 to negate), so a more multi-player friendly traversal method is Guard Dash > Hop.
      *3. Shield Attack:*
Use Shield Attack if your positioning following the Guard Dash is desired. I.e., you are perfectly positioned after the Guard Dash and don't want to move anywhere. Shield Attack was never used for its damage or blunt stun potential; it is used because it keeps your character in place following the Guard Dash and exits the Guard Dash follow-ups, effectively resetting your combo and allowing you to use the standard Thrust combos.
Another not so well-known benefit of the Shield Attack is that it allows for a roughly 60° angle adjustment before your subsequent thrust. This is an extremely important benefit. It's hard to notice this on Keyboard + Mouse because the WASD keys do not allow for fine-tuning. If you are using a controller, however, you will notice that following a Shield Attack, you can rotate your Left Stick and make your character change directions in a 60° cone to help you aim your next thrust. Combined with the property of resetting your combo, Shield Attack is an extremely useful move.
Note that Leaping Thrust also has this 60° cone aiming property, so keep that in mind when aiming Leaping Thrust too.
      *4. Hop:*
Use Hop following a Guard Dash if you are not quite in the desired positioning following the Guard Dash and using Leaping Thrust would place you too far or put you in a dangerous situtation. The hop also exits the Guard Dash follow-ups, so it is also great for resetting your combo and allowing you to use the standard Thrust combos.
The advantage that Hop has over the Shield Attack is that the Hop allows you to rotate your character 360° to aim your next Thrust, whereas the Shield Attack only allows for 60° aiming. This can be useful if the monster is positioned behind you after a Guard Dash.
As hinted in #2, Guard Dash > Hop is your most multi-player friendly traversal method because it doesn't trip other players."

your spacing is stupidly good dude... I thought this fight was borderline unbrearable with lance because of the chip damage even with guard 5. I planned on switching weapons to farm the fight but now you have me believin. Awesome work
Edit: now its even more impressive considering its ta rules. fuck, good job holy shit.

Thank you so much for your kind words, MsDestroyer! I didn't realize people watched my videos -- I just upload them to submit to www.mhwleaderboards.com. Have a go at Tempered Furious Rajang and tell me how it goes for you! I still have much to learn, but I reckon I could offer some feedback if you experience difficulties. This is a mega hard fight for Lancers and perhaps this holiday season I'll work on getting sub-9 TA rules.
Check out Haruken's Mew Are Number One speedrun: ua-cam.com/video/uKB8Z7CQQKM/v-deo.html
He reached sub-9 with pre-Fatalis gear -- totally mindblowing. He is probably top 3 in the world.
Also, stay tuned for KCGemini's upcoming Mew Are Number One speedrun! He's been working on the Non-tempered Furious Rajang, and hopefully his Tempered video will come out soon. We can learn so much from him!

      @Yanxi  3 роки тому +1

Thank you, Sharkbirb! That sure was a really funny moment. Truth be told, there is so more untapped potential that I have not reached in this fight. I am quite good at Velkhana, but Furious Rajang is much harder for me.
Performing even better requires a lot more familiarity with this monkey, which I do not have. I think the time can be pushed as low as 8'xx"xx for us average folk, and possibly 7'xx"xx for more advanced players. When I have some free time this month, I might rise up to the challenge and go for the sub-9!

Why thank you, Pokke! I didn't expect anybody to watch this video given how slow it is compared to ハルケン's or ZOne's. This hunt is moreso an example for normal players who are just trying to survive as opposed to speedrun against Furious Rajang. Nevertheless, I am touched that you took the time to watch this video 😄

Lol, Foca! I regret that the grab even happened, but getting that knockdown was the next best thing.
Usually Furious Rajang's grab is blockable, but Lancers observed that it is only blockable if the player is positioned in the first half of the lounge relative to its body. My positioning was slightly past the half point and was thus in the farther half, which was why the Guard Dash failed to block it.

How are you surviving the damn chip damage? I'm a Lance main of avg skill but God did this hunt make me switch weapon's fast. Was using the gear that was available at release time but he'd straight up kill me through chip damage only most times lol

Health Regen augment for the weapon can help with the chip damage. If possible, try to avoid the big smash attack that damage through your guard.
