I was able to survive Fatalis' sea of fire by having 1275 defense, 65 fire res, 200 health, and divine blessing secret. I healed to full during the initial part, got knocked over by the first hit and lost 90% of my health and just stayed down.
I'm not sure defense even matters there. I think it's just fireproof mantle, and maybe cool drink and heatproof skill that affect her Nova's damage, since it's considered to be environmental heat damage or something akin to it.
I think attacks like Lunastra's nova and Alatreon's judgement count as environmental damage. This might be why they aren't affected by defence and only mantles/resistance.
Verto kind of, elemental damage dealt to hunters is affected by both defence and resistances whereas elemental damage dealt to monsters is only affected by resistances.
Verto this is why 6000 defence reduces the damage of most of those attacks. But why it doesn't reduce Lunastra's and Alatreon's is obscure, so then being environmental is my best guess

6k def barely holds with Fatalis Phase 1 fire storm, so I think it is definitely nothing to Phase 3 firestorm and that downward breath... by system they are continuous fire damage that doesn’t trigger temporal mantle, I have 1k def and +ve fire resistance, but they still manage to cart me within 3 ticks of damage.
I didn't know about the "Ancient Armory" skill. I find it a little funny/sad that's exactly what I thought the Shara Ishvalda set should have given (to represent the loss of rock armor), and turns out it's already in the game.

It's worth noting that the super novas of fatalis that makes you go behind him to dodge you CAN tank through. I've done it with my divine blessing 5, 66 fire resist build. It also had around 1250-1600 defense and fireproof mantle.

A couple of the novas are percent based, and Schrade's Demise is one of'm. If you pop a max/ancient potion right before the flames ramp, you can survive it.
It's also wild to think that high rank Arch tempered nergigante could output some damage similar to that of master rank shara ishvalda or from the looks of it. I'm a little bit disappointed that ruiner didn't get the signature dive bomb

I noticed that when Lunastra and Teostra bond, there’s a 50/50 chance that they’ll swap novas. My guess is that a Teo bond consists of them bathing in each other’s explosive scales in a sort of dancing courtship ritual.

The only thing that would've made this video even more epic; is if during the moments prior to the Sapphire Star hitting the ground the music just quickly fades out. Likewise during Escaton Judgement, during the wind up the music becomes muffled.
I've a feeling he's the only Monster who can truly match up against those vibration beams' sheer DPS potential. I don't even favour Alatreon's chances; that's how deadly those beams are in-game.
@@GunlessSnake Yep, especially since it seems his firestorm attacks deals more damage overall with all the ticks than Shara's sonic beam (plus there's still his blue flame mode firestorm that should be even stronger). That said Shara does spam his sonic beam in an average fight more than Fatalis does his firestorm, so that could give him an advantage depending on Fatty's RNG.

I love how Fatalis only needs one of the 26 ticks of Schrade's Demise to kill a maxed out defense character. No matter how strong your defense is, and what kind of a tank you are, Fatalis is still going to reduce your a** to atoms with only 1/26 of his power.
I like how the English names of the moves are so dramatic like Sapphire Embrace or Psycho Crusher, whereas the Japanese ones are 「食ってみた」(Tried eating it)、「しっぽをふる」(Shakin the tail) respectively XD

Naa that's because there's a little delay in between the killing shot and the initial flame. It gives you time to get out of the way. It's a mandatory one shot, you can't heal through it or survive it

I had a fire tornado when I farmed Kushala in the guiding lands, since she likes to go down to the volcano region.
1200 hours into the game and saw it for the first time too
in the older games when Kushala in Icy region it's tornado also become ice storm

I believe lunastra's nova and judgement is based on hp percentage per damage tick. Which is why defense is useless.
Vincent Alexander Ong both don't do more damage if you have higher health so I assume that isn't the case.

That attack doesn’t care about defense, if you have 0 defense it would be the same as if you had 99999999999 defense.
Both Lunastra's Supernova's chip and Alatreon's Escaton Judgement do fixed damage.

@@Vishanator0 yea ik there's the initial flame. my teammate was at full health before the attack, when fatalis did the additional breath his health was reduced to about 20% instantly, but not carting

正確には第一、第二、第三の角未破壊状態が即死判定になります！第三以降は角を1段階でも破壊してると大ダメージ判定だとか
