Thanks so much for giving this attention Dacob!!!
I am one of the unfortunate customers who have been sold 2 counterfeit items. A YSL Lou camera bag, and a Gucci wallet. I saw BOTH of Mel in Melbourne’s videos, and thought, ok she is quite up there in the luxury world of UA-cam, and for her to do a big in-depth video a few months ago of Cosette (she so got paid for this for sure 😉) and then to just delete it and not mention a single thing about this situation to her viewers with whom she made it seem like we could trust her and a Cosette to end up being scammed is disgusting. I did buy my 2 items 2 years ago in January 2021, and I am trying to get my money back after getting it re-authenticated in the beginning of the week.
Thank you for your transparency. I feel your the only one I can trust in the luxury world of UA-cam. ❤️🥰

I am the same. I bought a lou camera from cosette after watched mel in Melbourne. Luckily I did authentication straight away after I got the bag. It was fake. So I returned and got the money back on time. I went back to Mel in Melbourne to try to get the video out, and realised she deleted without having any explanation to her fans. Absolutely disgusting, I am not following her anymore. I would like to know what cosette offered to Mel.

I too stopped trusting Mel. She recommended a company that sells cashmere clothing. I ordered a cardigan that was supposed to be 100% cashmere. It was not. I contacted the company for clarification and they told me to send back the item. They never apologized or explained why the item was only 15% cashmere. I sent back the item and had the hardest time getting a refund. The company didn’t respond to me after I asked them why I wasn’t refunded. They finally responded once I opened a dispute in PayPal. Then they claimed I did not return the item and wouldn’t refund me without seeing a receipt from the post office. After several days , they saw their error and refunded me. I DM’d Mel to tell her what happened but let her know that I didn’t need a response.

Having watched Mel’s 2023 video, Cosette allegedly paid for Mel’s trip to Sydney to shop in their store.

I stopped watching Mel in Melbourne a few years ago. I couldn’t deal with all the partnerships she pushed and constantly selling in almost all videos. I believe MIM’s channel is a side hustle, her regular job is selling real estate - she’s a savvy saleswoman! No one accumulates significant wealth from being a nice, honest person.
My experience with Cosette; I purchased a YSL lou camera bag 3 years ago. I knew instantly there was something not quite right. The bag didn’t look pristine and didn’t come with YSL authenticity cards, only a certificate that looks fake. I complained to them immediately and sent the bag back for refund. The bag was only reduced by 15% - not worth keeping, (and in hindsight) a fake. Cosette and Cettire could possibly be the same business, allegedly!

I didn’t hear about the Cosette’s 2020 drama and I purchased a Gucci bag through them last year. A color the boutique no longer sells. Interestingly, Cosette still has one in stock on their site. Honestly Im Portuguese and we have so many many fakes here. Also some are made here which it saddens me because we have such amazing artisans and we waste our expertise with that ilegal activity.
I used to go with a friend to buy clothing (she had an online store) we would come across with so many fake bags (and some clothing) some of them look so bad lol others do look good very well made.
I would say most people who buy this, buy it to show off (flex) and have no knowledge about the brands.
I honestly prefer a good leather bag made in Portugal Morrocco or Spain (or Italy) than to ever buy a fake.
Unfortunately the quality fakes made in Europe (and China) do look extremely similar and end up on these places that’s just wrong, and those companies not doing their work in knowing what their selling os worse!
But let me tell you there is always demand for these bags ☹️ I’ve seen so many here with fake bags and most I can tell right away their fake they’re badly made, LV fale vachetta is like plastic. People want these bags but they know nothing about the brand.

With her videos of stuff she no longer uses and says isn't worth much on the resale market, she could gift those to her audience. I also find videos with her kids weird, she asks for opinions and argues passionately against what they say.

I have to admit that you opened my eyes and reminded me that I stopped following some utubers because of their strange behaviour: in one video they were complaining about a product of some luxury brand (a cosmetic product), how disastrous the product is and a few weeks later they presented the same product from this luxury brand as the best product they have ever tried and they can't live without it. Their previous complaints were as if they didn't exist. This so-called "business relationship" with that luxury brand, was more than evident there.

I'm not sure if y'all watched the video - I remember that recent Cosette video that Mel uploaded. They were showing her the staff only rooms where all the bags are stored and it was a very in depth video of Cosette itself. I'm not sure if the owner of Cosette was there but maybe it was the manager? While watching the video I thought it was a good, informative video of Cosette trying to finally show consumers the inside of their business. But now, I feel like it might have been Cosette trying to save their own asses.
I think maybe, that Cosette purchases big batches of these bags, doesn't authenticate them all, and some fakes fall through the cracks. I'm hoping this is the case actually; that's it's just lazy business decisions instead of malicious intentions to scam their consumers by buying cheaper fake bags and getting thousands in profit from their customers. Obviously, the laziness is not excusable but the latter is far worse. If it is laziness, I would like everyone to see the reality of most businesses - they will always try and cut corners to reduce costs on their end! I'd recommend everyone here to just buy straight from the source.
In regards to Mel, I am trying not to jump to conclusions. I think we all have the tendency to jump to conclusions and dog pile people on social media. I think Cosette was very convincing in that video and I saw a lot of comments believing the same. We don't know what happened behind the scenes, and judging from how Cosette staff were on that video, I assume that beforehand when contacting Mel there was a lot of discussion as well. I think we should wait for Mel to upload a video because right now we are all just assuming what's going on, and we're rightfully concerned about what the luxury reselling community is turning into. She very well could have removed the video so her comments don't go out of control and she can address the concerns without any pressure.
If she doesn't upload anything...I will be very surprised.
Also, little funny slightly irrelevant addition to this conversation: you would think fake bags are illegal in Australia but they are everywhere! At my local train station, you often will have police officers waiting at the gates where people tap on/off for the train to catch people (mostly school kids) jumping over the gates. But right next to those gates is a little store that sells clothes and bags - and they visibly are selling fake designer bags. They have them on stands that are out the front of the store so everyone can see them. So the laws aren't as strict here as you'd think, weirdly enough. Australia cares more about penalising people who avoid the train fare then people selling counterfeit bags.

I had heard that years ago about cosette authenticating one bag and using the same certificates for multiple bags of the same style. Since then I’ve avoided the place. My concern is they’re flooding the market with fakes which then makes preloved designer bag shopping even more complicated. I wasn’t aware that Cosette weren’t a preloved store, I’ve definitely seen pieces in store in Sydney that look. Preloved and used. They also definitely sell preloved sunglasses as that’s they only item I’ve ever purchased from them and they told me they were.

As for Cosette, they do say they comply with the Australian Parallel Import Law when they bring goods in from Europe but I think they could be more transparent as to where their goods come from and explain why there’s such a great discount. Are they made-for-outlet bags or seconds or damaged stock 🤷🏻‍♀️? They’d do well to promote themselves as Australia’s only luxury designer outlet store because that’s pretty much what they appear to be. Shame L&LITM was threatened. I like her channel. Glad she gave you an update.

I agree so much with everything that you’re saying. I think it’s damn hard to give the benefit of the doubt to anyone who’s “influencing”. I do have a handful whose advice I trust, it’s also the way they present it. If someone’s channel is a constant commercial…I’m very very doubtful. Thankfully there are still people who have used different products for years and then get a sponsorship, I’m super supporting then.
Myself, I feel the massive responsibility as well of trying to never steer any of my viewers towards a bad purchase. It sometimes takes away from the fun because there is so much our viewers have to be careful about.
Finishing your story, my big question is also: did you need the money? I would get it if it was a single mother of 4 who was struggling. We’ll probably they wouldn’t be in the niche, but you know what I mean.
Thank you for always addressing what we all need to think about 👏🏼👏🏼❤️

The price was with discount, but I am from Greece and I felt little more safer to buy this bag from a store here. So that’s why they give discounts…! I am really happy that I didn’t buy anything fake but I am really sorry for some “professional” UA-camrs …

I do think the whole issue of collusion between some big brands and the counterfeit industry is interesting. There is quite a lot of anecdotal evidence about proximity of manufacturing units in China - EU legislation for eg allowing items to be marked as made in EU countries provided a portion of manufacture takes place there. I don't know what the legal situation in US is.

Thank you for bringing this to light. You are right, on many levels. I don't need to know the details to understand if both influencers deleted videos, there's a reason for it. It's probably safest to purchase in store. However, I recently bought a bag from Chanel and had it shipped to my home address. When it arrived I considered whether I should have it authenticated. Is it getting to the point that we need to authenticate in both directions? I mean, if I have to wait for a company to authenticate a a piece of jewelry or a bag I send back, why shouldn't I authenticate what they send to me?... May sound sad, but it's something to consider.

I think the red flag from the start was that MIM (and maybe others) were able to offer steep discounts to their followers for cosette. That means cosette was able to sell current bags at a heavy discount - how? How when even the designer websites and farfetch would never have sales.
But i have a hard time believing YSL staff would auto-authenticate on the spot. No luxe brand should do that so brazenly - they may subtly say it but not outright say its fake

I fooled everyone at work until the zipper broke and my car keys fell right through the bottom. Very embarassing! Year later, I met a fine gentleman in Tijuana who sold me fake double flap CHANEL. • @SuperDacob
      @SuperDacob  Рік тому +1

Well, its not easy to start international lawsuits. Its very expensive and complicated and if many people raise their voices and voice publicly their concerns and share their alleged experiences about and with any given business, then it becomes harder for said business to potentially threaten and ultimately sue each single public voice. Nobody has pockets that deep after all. These are all of course only allegations. Everything is alleged. But if this does end up going to trial and court in some country, then there would need to be a deeper investigation into the alleged authenticity of the products sold by the business as well as detailed investigation into how the luxury products have been sourced and from where. Its all alleged until an official verdict is delivered by a court jury/judge.
