- Join me for a quick tour of People's Park. This place is also known as the People's Park Complex (珍珠坊). Most of the stalls and shops sell food from mainland China. The Food Center is very popular and is packed during lunch and dinner time.

I was born in Singapore and never remember eating out so much, I guess our times are different from these new generations and never have so many different hawkers centre, it sure have change so much I have been away for 46 years I remember some streets name but have it ever change it is still a beautiful country the only thing I miss is the weather all year round as over here out summer is very short but living is good different. You take lovely sights

I'm always amazed at how keen Singapore people are on eating out. I guess the prices make it economic, whereas where I am it would cost far too much to do it regularly (and there is not the great variety of choices that you have).
Singaporeans have 2 favourite pastimes - 'Food' & 'Complaining'. Haha that's our local joke. On a serious note: our hawker food was cheap, but inflation is bringing up the prices. The poorer people will be hit harder. Indeed, we have a wide variety of choices.
Large majority of Singaporeans eat out every day for all meals.
@@NoohCee That's unhealthy but true. Outside food has too much salt and oil.
@SingaporeCityWalks This may have been true in the past. However, most hawkers have adjusted to the wishes and expectations of the customers. Campaigns by authorities to promote reduction of salt, fat, and sugar intake helped too.
Perhaps hawkers still use more MSG than home cooking. But I suppose this is not much of a health concern.

40% less foot traffic... tourists not coming.. will b a bleak year 2023..good ole days gone....from pp complex to pp centre to chinatown point all same lonely n sad
China will be opening the gates for her people to travel outside very soon. PRCs will be all over Singapore and all over the world.The malls will be busy. Chinatown will be extra busy.
Be vigilant, many chinese around
The PRCs who are already here are ok. We should be vigilant on those that come when China opens her gate in January. Happy New Year and God Bless!
