- Hi all,
All product links are further down 😊 ⬇️.
Here is a video of me experimenting to see if I can get a Petri Effect in UV resin without the use of alcohol inks, I knew I would get it to work, but am amazed at how quickly and how beautiful the results are! This is crazy! I know I have used alcohol inks in resin before but not without huge unpredictable mess and risk, this is a huge step for UV Resin and Petri Art!

You're a genius, man 😮 This is so wicked cool - can't wait to try this!
Thanks Gale 😊 it's crazy! 😂
Daniel Cooper I have said it before and I will say it again. YOU ARE A ABSOLUTE GENIUS ❤Thank you so kindly for sharing your wonderful talent ❤️
Thanks so much Dale 🙏
Oh yes yes yes I love it , absolutely beautiful again 😊
My favourite is the very last heart! It looks like some kind of an exotic orchid. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks Pauline 😊
Whoa. That looks like a white rose. I’m impressed. Late to watch as had lightning storms and heavy rain here. Too humid to pour which sucks. ❤❤❤ this technique.
You made perfect roses!! Try using acetone instead of alcohol. It thinks UV resin, but doesn’t break it down like alcohol does. You can also try white gel polish. Use it straight or thin it with acetone.
Thanks, I did think about using the acetone as I have before but I needed such a tiny amount of alcohol, I didn't think it needed to be changed 😊😊
You are the petri king. Not suppressed you figured out how to do this. Excellent work.
Thank you very much Bob 😊
Wow..that last one is like a stunning orchid..so beautiful ❤️😍
Well done!
Thanks Cheryl 😊
Thank you so much. I can learn without wasting my money. I love it! ❤
You are so welcome! 😊
Just gorgeous. You've convinced me to give UV resin another go.
Thank you so much Laura 😊😊
outstanding! looks like a white rose, or clouds. Love it!

Gorgeous work. I'll have to try it with the UV.
Thanks 😊 Have fun 😊
Genius! Love it ❣️
So so cool!
I think I can actually do this, going to try tomorrow.
What else but WOW. At the folk festival but still had to see if you had another video up.
Sh*t your good I'll defo try this. WOW love it.
Thanks Morag 😊
Excellent tutorial love this idea 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks Mary 😊
That's awesome! 😍 Way to go 🎉
Thank you!! 😁
Oh my gosh, I am so in love with this technique! When you were talking about the colors needing to spread and not sink my mind went to my 3 new bottles of high-viscosity uv resin, you know that I have a new toy and need to use it feeling, so I used the high vis for the clear part of the heart and regular for the colors and white. I works great but I can't wait to try it with the low vis that is on order as we speak...lol
This video is one that I need to watch a couple of times. Need the playback speed at about half. I just love the effects you are getting. They kind of look like a flower made with a silk ribbon.
Thanks Terri 😊 🫂
Amazing Daniel ❤
Fabulous
OMG! That last one is amazing! It’s fantastic to not only see the results of your experiments but to understand how and why your are achieving them. I am in awe . . .
Thank you so much 😊
Wow, how cool is that..Love this, will try for sure.
Thanks Ruthann 😊🥰
thank you for sharing, I never tried the petri technique because I don't have alcohol inks including of course the white, the sinker. I was going to try with a white indian ink I found on a art supplies store but forgot, I only have my micas (sahara, big investment) and pastes (local Argentinian brand) so buying a whole set of alcohol inks was a big investment I had to think about. UV resin and its machine will also a big investment but it could be a game-changer to start doing a lot of new techniques... (can't wait to try making some labradorites, my favorite stone)
They look really good
Thanks Kim 😊
Congratulations this is epic!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 😊
love the white 1s daniel
Thank you 😊 I did think about just adding a colored background to those but wanted to focus on the experiment 😊
Absolutely genius!
Thanks 😊
Absolutely love this, new to your channel after hearing your name mentioned by others I follow.........love watching and listening to you
Awesome! Thank you! 😊
Amazing and beautiful results ❤
Thank you! 😊
Another great experiment! Love them!
Thank you 🤗
BRILLIANT!!
Thanks Lisa 😊
OMG I'm so stoked for this. I love uv resin because of my instant results syndrome lol. I can't wait to try this!
Thanks 😊 Yep, it's so quick 😊😊
I’m watching your video now , so so pretty
Thanks Valerie 😊
Thanks Daniel for sharing your experiments. I like that these, especially the last one. ❤
Thanks Maddie 😊 Very welcome 😊 🙏
So cool seeing your experiments. I love a happy accident 😊
Thank you 😊 Me too 😊😊
Ohhh Daniel! These are great! I thought I’d struck lucky with petri coaster, I saw spores as I unmoulded it, then in the middle was a few big white splotches😢
Oh no! The resin may have pulled inwards like how a bloom does, that will then concentrate the inks into the middle 😔
Absolutely fantastic......my mind is blown.....thankyou, now to see if I can recreate it?
Thank you 😊 Have fun, you can do it 😊😊
WOO-HOO! YOU DID IT, Dan, you cracked it! A pastel Petri effect *_with spores!_* 👍😊💕 That's beautiful! I actually liked all the ones you made. Those first white roses were gorgeous! SO...maybe now you'll believe us when we tell you, you're a genius?!
HUGE *CONGRATULATIONS!* Chef's kiss! 😘
Oh, my goodness! I should have waited before hitting enter! That heart is AMAZING! Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! 💕❤💕
Thank you so much 😀 Can't wait to get more color into these 😊
Love it
A black back ground would be pretty with this heart.
Wait until the end 😂
AMAZING 😮😮😮
Thanks Tammy 😊 🫂
Very interesting.
Whilst we love your UV resin experiments we hope you get back to 2 part epoxy ones soon.
UV resin is too expensive in Australia to buy so we only use in smaller projects.
Keep up your ground breaking art and leading the way.
Cheers from 🇦🇺
Thanks Andrew, yes, will be doing more with epoxy too 😊😊
Ah, I really appreciate the uv experiments. I haven't the time nor space for mixing resins
Hey Daniel, Mary Klaus here, did you pass science with flying colors in school? You are so smart. Love this. Cant wait to try it.
Btw this is my new UA-cam channel, hope you stop by.
Thanks Mary, I wouldn't say flying colors but I tried 😂
Wow wow wow I love these
Thank you 😊
Great job!
Thank you so much 😊😊
WOW LOVE IT
Thanks 😊
Ack! I'm trying to clean my craft room this weekend and all I want to do is play with UV resin now. Lol. It will have to wait.
Oh no, maybe have a day of each 😉😂
Thanks!
Wow, thank you so much Deb 😊🥰
Wow, great effects! I love the way you apply yourself to getting the results you want, instead of giving up on uv resin. Brilliant!
I'm wondering if it's possible to use this technique to get 'flower petals' in uv resin. Obviously there's a size limit, so that might restrict it, but those thin veils of opaque colour that you achieved, just might work for concentric 'C' shapes maybe...?
Hi, yes, that will be possible with less alcohol 😊 I have made mini blooms in UV resin before, they work great 😊😊
Wow 😊
Thanks Tracey 😊
Another great video
Thank you 😊
Those are beautiful!! I have redoing our sunroom into my craft room right now and all of my things are packed up! I can’t wait to get it finished so I can try this!! Great job! Btw I have learned so much from your videos!!
Thanks Kelley 😊 hope you get set up soon 😊
That was a cool experiment! They look awesome, but that last one was pretty amazing!
Thank you very much! 😊
Thank you so much for this experiment. I have tried and wasted a lot of uv resin trying to get this look! I would love to see if we can mix a few colors with it!
You are so welcome! New vid coming later 😉
bonjour merci merci la traduction fonctionne 👍👍
I watched galaxy 3 times and made them in my pendant. mould.TY.
Yay, well done Lisa 👏 😊
I cant get over how many insane ideas and experiments you have.. You need to stop, I've just bought a load of stuff, I don't have enough money 😂
Thanks 😊 I can't stop 😂. There's no rush, This can be picked up any time 😊😊😊
@@daniel..cooper If I'm being honest, I'd hate for you to stop lol.. I've only recently started watching you and love your videos.. you've got me back into resin again, I should hopefully be able to start again tomorrow 🤞
@@Ecarg476 yay! Welcome back 😊😊😊
So confused ..you can't use alcohol ink in uv resin. But this recipe with less alcohol works great! Is this what it proves? 🤔 very cool 😎
You can but it's very risky. This works as it disperses the pigment, then by leaving it, some of the alcohol evaporates leaving the pigment to do it's job of sinking, and you need much less than dropping say 1 drop of alcohol ink onto the resin.
Hi Daniel.. I have come across your channel and I’m loving it! New to resin.. I’m wondering if there’s a knack to polishing resin at all? x
I haven't needed to try yet 😊
I've been doing similar experiments! For color, I've droppered UV safe pigments (YRYM HT 24 color uv resin liquid dye), then carefully mixed and spread them across the surface layer of the uv resin, then dropped my low-alcohol sinker onto that. I've also been using JDiction UV resin, which comes in 3 viscosities. I'm hoping that I can get a tiny bloom to work in their high viscosity resin. Their low viscosity uv resin can be spread thin evenly and is great for hollow casting 3d objects. I'm so glad I've found your channel! Maybe I should try to get over my shyness and join some of your other social media groups. 😊
Awesome, so glad to see you are experimenting also 😊😊😊 Mini blooms are easy with uv resin, it's again down to balance 😊😊
Wow! You did it🎉 That last big heart is fantastic. All of the others are still really pretty and would look great with a darker background. 😍
@@lisaburnham7151 thank you 😊 🙏
Love the effect Daniel...can you use pigment dye instead of pigment paste?
It may not sink to give a petri effect.
❤
Try adding nail powder!!!
I did think that but will save for another video 😊😊
Cool! Gonna definitely give it a try. So what is the purpose of covering it up? Is it to protect from light or to slow the evaporation of the alcohol?
Yes, just protection and a little evaporation 😊
Would putting some of the alcohol into a bottle that comes with a glass pipette help to measure out your drops better? Or putting some into a bottle (with a cap) with a needle tip nozzle help with measuring? Different amount may be used in different days due to conditions, how much you are using etc. But I was thinking if you are trying to make several small batches per craft session, could it help make a difference is what I am wondering?
🤩
Amazing video!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Your amazing! I have a question for you though since you work with UV resin a lot I’ve seen a few videos where they’re saying the UV yellows extremely fast. Do you find that you have a problem with that?
I have had it yes, sadly all resin does, best advice and aftercare for any resin art is to minimise exposure to sunlight 😊
Thank you!! I knew it all yellows sooner or later, but I didn’t know if the UV yellow even without being in the sun so I didn’t want to sell a necklace to someone and one or two months down the road it’s yellowed. Thank you so much though.
This is amazing! Do you think there’s an alternative to the pigment paste. I only do UV stuff and the let’s resin paste is quite expensive and I don’t need such a big bottle. Could I make my own with mica and uv resin do you think?
Thanks Julia, sadly, mica just won't work the same, you may still get some pretty designs and worth an experiment. The pigment paste is a little expensive for its size but trust me, this bottle will last me so long, probably around 8 months to 1 year, even making blooms so it's definitely worth it 😊
Pls tell me are you using white alchol or white pigment
1:16 I am only this far in & maybe I should wait until the end but I may have to stop & come back to the finish the video & being me, I may then forget my question so please bear with me.
Is it possible to create coloured sinker instead of white?
Can you do this using epoxy resin at all love all you videos
Sure can 😊 the measurements are just a little different 😊 I have some in my petri playlist
Hi Mr Cooper I have a question please and thank you. I purchased the 18 colors let's resin solid colors epoxy resin pigment macaron resin dye will these work with this project? I hope so. If not do you have a project that these will work with? Thank you
😍😍😍
Can you use the white pigment paste you made?
Sure can 😊
