Another sweet, sincere episode. I really liked the ending. I can't wait til Marlo is older and hears David's answer about why he's such a "silly billy."
Holy cow, Derrick I used to play in a band called ''Strategies for Hangman'' and we played a bunch of shows with you in Long Beach when you were singing for JWKB. Good memories!
I once was in a Brooklyn park and I saw David Cross with his then baby in a carriage and his dog. He dog ran away and David was chasing his dog. It felt like a comedy bit. I didn't want to disturb him so I just watch and laughed.
David Cross has been floating around being a world 🌍 class comedian. And if we wait patiently, we now get to listen to him in his own podcast. 💎 God bless
David. Dave-id. The id of slam poetry is apart of us. A-PART of you. A part of me. Apartheid! ... ISRAEL! Really is the worst form of live "entertainment." And to every other person unfamiliar with Derrick Brown, this is genuinely a listenable podcast. In the same vain, where they were surprised a book was good, this was genuinely a great pod. Give this dude a chance. He's funny, witty and quick. If a fan of Cross, think it's worth a listen. 🤷♂
@@brownbananabooks I’ll have you know you are communicating with the 2002 5th grade spelling AND grammar bee champion! What grammatical mistake(s)? The first part was a riff/quip due to David’s - and my own - hatred of “slam poetry.”
I love Cross' comedy, but *almost* any time he says something "serious" about politics he's incorrect (Israel did not scuttle Oslo accords, the leaders agreed but then Arafat backed away from the deal and his people launched a violent intifada full of terrorist attacks in Israel.) Now, back to the comedy.
david overcoming his poetry disgust is honestly inspiring
“Regular” poetry, yes. But “slam” poetry, I’m glad he held firm.
"Put it in a bag" LOL

I honestly had no idea who this guy was, but this was a great episode.
I honestly think "poet and comedian Derrick Brown" may not even exist. But I liked this episode, too.
I was clamoring for him to do a podcast for years, he clearly listened to just me, you’re welcome everyone
Anything you clamor for manifests itself into reality
How about you clamor for some modesty, pal

I loved you guys!
David, when you go to Machu Picchu, stop in Lima and go to the restaurant Central
Only took 90 seconds for the first LA diss. 😄
This just tells me we need an episode with Danny Brown
please have Gregg Turkington on to talk about music for like 2 hrs
Do one with Jay, David. Ask him wtf was he thinking
After he mentioned John Hodgeman all I could think was how he sounded like John Hodgeman

Emma exists! :)

I thought it said Derren Brown for a second and got excited
this Derrick guy should be rich
Sooon!
There was a time when Cross, as a fully grown adult, thought "slam poetry" was representative the entire art form?
Derrick really reminds me of Casey Affleck. 😮😅
more like Gaysey Affleck
I get the feeling this dude Derrick has weird toes. Derrick....what them feet do!?!
Spaghetti!
Hi pal!
@@DerrickBrownPoetry ciao. Fun interview. Nice work.
