I think group travel gives you the wings to solo travel. I don't understand wanting people to do something uncomfortable when they are inexperienced on their own. Doesn't it make more sense to go travelling with someone first and then try to make it out on your own. I know some people are super brave to solo travel when they first travel but if its required, very few people would travel. I don't understand this gatekeeping.
My unpopular opinion - travel Instagram is great for the wanderlust but the highly edited "perfect" shots and drone images are wrecking the travel experience. So many places just don't live up to the photos and videos and you just end up a little bit disappointed.
The point about not liking travel is so true. We only did short UK holidays when I was growing up. I was 21 the first time I got on a plane but then didn't travel for another 8 years because I didn't have anyone to go with. Then I started solo travelling and love it. My parents on the other hand hate it. My Dad has never had a passport and my Mum allowed her last one to expire over 15 years ago and has never renewed. They don't even like travelling in the UK anymore, they just see it as expensive and stressful so don't bother. They don't discourage me from travelling but they also don't understand why I love it so much.
How about a video on positive tips that you don't hear or read about. Like if you go to Rome and don't want to spend money on visiting museums go during the first sunday of the month and all the museums are FREE!!! If you go to rome and don't want to spend lots of money on airport transfers (this only works for Ciampino airport) you can get a bus from Ciampino airport to Ciampino train station for €1.50 and a one way ticket from Ciampino train station to Rome for €1.20. This brings you into Roma Termini where you can access the entire city by either bus or metro. Don't spend money on bottled drinks in Rome. All you need is a sports bottle because Rome has thousands of drinking fountains (called nasone) where you can fill up on free water and it's littererally better than bottled water. Ice cold, tastes great and free.! Io amo l'Italia.
As someone with anxiety thank you so much for saying solo travel is not for everyone. I love to travel, but I could never travel alone. I get so tired of hearing people say you HAVE to do it and that there's no excuse. I was supposed to travel to Scotland with my best friend this year and it would have been the first time travelling abroad with a "group" smaller than 5.
Only halfway through the video, but one of the best travel things I've learned/learnt from soloing and couples traveling, is going on the off-season (which you've mentioned before), but it's worth constantly mentioning ESPECIALLY if you solo.
Oh yes! I only ever really travel on the off season. February and March and September and October. Much cheaper and the attractions aren't all crammed with people. You can travel to warmer Mediterranean countries like Spain and Portugal in February when the weather is still lovely and not be withered by 30+ degree heat and enjoy yourself much more!!
I went on a group tour with one of my sisters on our first international trip. Since then I've solo traveled in other countries and definitely prefer that. there are pros and cons to each just depending on who you are. definitely love taking one day whenever I am traveling to just do nothing.
I love top bunk if it's a fixed to the wall bunkbed (it's what I have at home), if it's the normal one that shakes every time someone uses the ladder, bottom bunk all the way hahaha. Unpopular opinion: I paid (what I think is) a ton of money for the hostel and I will gladly stay in bed all day for several days w/o interacting with other people. Also for the Philippines, as someone who's born, raised, and currently lives here, I get why people think it sucks - public transportation, lack of infrastructure, not to mention we're not connected to the rest of SEA so you have to take a flight to get here, and apparently it's not as cheap. It's great if you want a nice time chilling on the beach, but we do have a ton of natural disasters (ex. Just in 2020, we've had a volcanic eruption, pandemic, the strongest typhoon of the year (Rolly/Goni), then another typhoons less than a week later (Atsani), and right now a strong af tropical storm (Ulysses/Vamco) so it's a lot of destruction just in one year and the average is 20 typhoons a year) not to mention the corruption regarding infrastructure, so yeah it's not for everyone but if ever you do go here, the locals appreciate it a lot cause some communities heavily rely on tourism as their main source of income. For Aly, I know you don't like Manila (haha that's where I live) and for me, it's just a concrete jungle - there are some nice places for shopping and cultural heritage sites but people here do tend to scam foreigners sadly.

Compression ones are amazing! And I agree a combination of different ones are best! But it’s great to open your suitcase and get the cube with your underwear, then the one with your pants, knowing where everything is and not having to go through everything!
so often people use them incorrectly or try to pack too much and hope that having the cubes will somehow make it all fit. bags or packs with compartments that you designate for specific things can also work alongside cubes. Packing is a skill.

It can be pretty adequate for Europe and some other regions to say that one city looks loke the other when you are visiting one country. Probably it doesn´t fully apply for very big countries that you can find in other regions in the world :)
So fascinating how everyone views places differently!! I think it all comes down to factors that change depending on the person's experience including weather, who you are with, interactions with locals and your health etc. Also SO AGREE that 'must see' places shouldn't be written off. We are tourists anyway, so who cares?
I feel like going to the “must do” spots are a great start, and help you find the not “must see” spots because many of the workers are still local people.
For those comments I probably would give the same respond as your. 😁✌️ One travel preference really depends on one personality but the important thing is the memories & experience one (we) made/experience (together) to be able to look back to. Now with the pandemic this moments become more valuable
I was born and lived there for many many years. It's great to visit but becomes very tiring to live there. Travel is expensive and unreliable, so a disproportionate amount of time has to be allocated to arriving at work (or any appointment) on time which becomes annoying very quickly. Lots of more reasons why being there 'on holiday' with a holiday mindset is so very different from living and working there.
Aly, I agree with most of your comments and would add to a few; 1) it's not that the 'Must See' places aren't worth it, it's that too many things are called 'Must See' when they really aren't. eg The Grand Palace in Bangkok is a 'Must See' however the floating market is just a tourist trap now (and was getting that way 30 years ago when I first saw it). 2) same city fatigue applies to many things. Do a bit of research first to decide what makes each city different. Similarly in places in Asia it's easy to get 'Temple'd Out', so don't plan to see one every day. If you saw 4 Temples per day in somewhere like Kerala (India) you'd need to be there for a very long time to see them all, so pick and choose, and have non-temple days. I'd guess that applies to many other types of site as well (but can't think of any at the moment). 3) London is one of the best tourist cities in the world, but only if you're very wealthy. It's packed with stuff to do and see but most of it (including accommodation) is horribly expensive). If you're not wealthy then you need to do a lot of research and budget carefully, or go elsewhere. 4) whilst I agree that lazy days are fine, I wouldn't recommend staying in the hotel in a town/city. Maybe if it's in the middle of nowhere otherwise just wander round the local area and don't be afraid to sit in a restaurant/coffee shop with a good book and watch the world walk by.
My unpopular opinion: travelling with kids can be done, but you need to slow down. I’ve been told to just schlepp the kids wherever I want. I’ve also been told kids shouldn’t travel as it inconveniences adult travellers. I think both can be right, but for our family, we find the kids need to be old enough so I don’t have to carry our whole bloody house on every trip. And it’s okay to slow down and yes, it’s okay to want accommodation that makes it easy to keep kids clean, warm/cool and fed. Some people are good with dunking their baby in a creek, letting their air dry and cuddling them up to a local yak to sleep. Whatever floats your parenting boat, I say (safety being important, of course- the yak needs a baby monitor strapped to its head, right?). But after having my toddler covered in mozzie bites from taking her to the showers in a campground/holiday park (you know what the Aussie ones are like no doubt Aly), I’ll now pay more for a cabin with a bathroom and not lose sleep with a cranky itchy baby.
Absolutely! That's the best part of solo travel for me. Doing exactly what I want to do. Not missing out on doing something cos other people in your party don't wanna do it.
i believe its the entertainment within them cities that excite so each city will offer its own but you need to discover or watch other you tubers that show these different entertainment activities which are different from one city to the next
Unpopular opinion: way too many travel vloggers seem to have decided it’s just fine to go out and spread COVID right now. Thanks for putting out content that doesn’t involve putting other people at risk.
EVERYWHERE is "samey" Traveling is mainly boring and lonely You miss so many home comforts People are getting ruder and piggish Most havent even explored their hometown It seems amazing because its different, just like someone elses food always looks better than yours. Instagram has made travel a "materialistic" want. You cant beat your own bed, sofa, TV.
Top bunk over bottom. Bruh😂 i want to use my towel as privacy curtain when i can. Philipines is amazing fucking go and see more. Travel is a mixture of escapism and wanting new stimulous and better weather. Long bus ride aint worth it unless you have to pay a lot more for flights.
Holiday tip. France is the most visited country in the world. There's is NOTHING worth seeing outside that country's south-east quadrant apart from Paris.
I actually kinda agree on that Philippines opinion 🙈 i mean, it IS super beautiful and everything, but there are many other countries that are as beautiful
My great aunt if from the Philippines. She expressed a lot of the same sentiment as that unpopular opinion. I mean they have a lot of natural disasters there, it's kinda hard for the country to recover when they happen so frequently.

I would leave the hotel every day and I wouldn't stay one day in the hotel as I can relax at home and its pointless going to a country to sit in a hotel for a day. that's just my opinion.
Moar, please. 1.Theres no such thing as "westernised" Yeah certain areas will cater to western tourists but I think the cultual impacts of toursism is overstated at best and colonial at worst. 2.Airline food is pretty bomb, never had a bad meal on a plane.
@@davidhcobbald3632 yep ! i always check the comision they want to charge. and there are places and place. I LOVE LONDON SO MUCH. I wish I could live there but it's too expensive.
If you get bored enough you could label your packing cubes 🤣🤣
Aly, I agree with most of your comments and would add to a few;
1) it's not that the 'Must See' places aren't worth it, it's that too many things are called 'Must See' when they really aren't. eg The Grand Palace in Bangkok is a 'Must See' however the floating market is just a tourist trap now (and was getting that way 30 years ago when I first saw it).
UNPOPULAR OPINION: If you are an American Citizen you don't need to stand in lines.
I can’t imagine traveling with children. It sounds like an absolute nightmare.
So funny! Your reactions were hilarious 🤣 Fun vid, I totally agree on the travel shaming issue and packing cubes, they are game changers! 😂
i love solo Travel i can do what i want then and i prefer cities - more going on! yeah Liverpool nice mention there Ally i know you love it too
Totally! I can only travel with my husband cuz he lets me set the itinerary and is always blown away by what I put together.
@@lexicalgap5191 That's not solo travel if your with hubsand
Husband*
@@gazriley624 @gaz riley No shit. It's pretty easy to pick up that I agree with you on the "do what I want" hence my comment.
Packing cubes are sexy luggage.
Out of 26 countries I have been to, The Philippines was my favorite! I cant believe someone said it was shit.
Packing cubes not worth it??? How do people even live without them??
I even use them at home!
Unpopular opinion: way too many travel vloggers seem to have decided it’s just fine to go out and spread COVID right now. Thanks for putting out content that doesn’t involve putting other people at risk.
Yay alys back
I have just found your videos! I love this! I actually like top bunk... but hear me out you get more head room when you sit on your bed :)
Unpopular opinion: Belgium is a fun country to explore. :-)
Why would it be unpopular? Belgium is fun.
Bruges kicks ass.
Aly posts a new video about travel...my week is now made 😀😀😀🌞🌠🎉🎉
I wish I had found you 10 years ago
EVERYWHERE is "samey"
Traveling is mainly boring and lonely
You miss so many home comforts
People are getting ruder and piggish
Most havent even explored their hometown
It seems amazing because its different, just like someone elses food always looks better than yours.
Instagram has made travel a "materialistic" want.
You cant beat your own bed, sofa, TV.
Love the mug!
Philippines is the best country in the world and i subscribed to skillshare - Thank you
Last vlog of your 20's lol Happy Birthday in Advance 🥳✨💃
Thanks babe! Wine in hand ready to see out my 20s in style!
@@PsychoTraveller lovely 🍻
I loved this.
Who are these top bunk loving packing cube hating peeps have they travel....... lower bunk always love cubes
top bunk all the way baby!
A other great video Aly always love watching u sorry I missed sending u birthday wishes so I will now hope u had a fantastic day you always deserve Aly can’t wait for the new video you’re looking beautiful as always mwah xx 🤗🤗😍❤️😍
I would leave the hotel every day and I wouldn't stay one day in the hotel as I can relax at home and its pointless going to a country to sit in a hotel for a day. that's just my opinion.
I definitely feel that! But sometimes it’s tough depending on your work.
@@RyanFila I make a plan by researching the area b4 I go and then do the plan. Besides I can relax and sleep at home.
I agree! Travel all that way and spend all that money just to stay in the hotel is a waste.
@@bella-donnaosullivan5660 true! If it’s just a vacation I think that’s the way to go for sure! You don’t want to waste anytime!
@@davidhcobbald3632 i Totally agree.
I don't know..i just like watching you talking 😂😂 🖤🖤
Ryanair is great!! Lol
100% agree
Moar, please.
1.Theres no such thing as "westernised" Yeah certain areas will cater to western tourists but I think the cultual impacts of toursism is overstated at best and colonial at worst.
2.Airline food is pretty bomb, never had a bad meal on a plane.
Ok, I am highly disappointed that You did not show the cats! Just saw a bit of Blake... next time, SHOW KITTIES!
My bad 😂😂
don't exchange money in the airport
Omigosh the exchange rates are horrendous aren't they! They rob you blind! One should always buy currency before leaving!
@@davidhcobbald3632 yep ! i always check the comision they want to charge. and there are places and place. We always buy currency before, or if we go to a local exchange place, we check online first how much will it be, go and ask, and if they are close to the bank rate, we then go ahead. In istanbul for example never had a problem. Prague... meh.. There's a guy on YT- Honest Guide that has some advice about that :)))
I agree but I'm not sure that would be considered an 'unpopular opinion'.
Most experienced travellers would agree with that.
Wow nice beautiful volgs my beautiful friend ❤️ God bless you and wel come to India holiday 🇮🇳 rishikesh North India 🇮🇳 😍 🙏
Aly, I want to be your best friend! :') You are hilarious, thank you for uplifting me this morning
Yey my comment was in the video ☺️!!!!
Love your videos :) here's an unpopular opinion, Germany is the best and most diverse country in the world :)
Unpopular Opinion: Sydney is the most overrated place I’ve ever been to. If it wasn’t for the harbour it wouldn’t be worth going out of your way for.
Top bunk! :D
Philippines are sh*t? Who are these people?! I totally agree that some tourist spots are overpriced and overcrowded but as you said, that doesn't mean that they're not worth it! You definitely can't generalize that. As for my unpopular opinion, how bout this: You can only say you've been to a country if you've left the airport and spent at least 48h exploring. Good work, Aly! :-)
Unpopular travel opinion: If someone approaches you to sell something and you aren't going to miss a flight, don't say no to them. Instead start up a conversation. Maybe you won't buy anything and will have to tell them you're not interested eventually, but even if you decide against it, you will both have a better time that day if you stop to talk for a bit. Use a translation app if you aren't able to communicate in their language.
You didn't answer the person who said Philippines is shit , what you like about philippines?
Here's my honest opinion: I fast forwarded your advertisment.
