As the 3rd volume says, dismemberment doesn’t work on some Deadites from this book, all you can do is run. So the spirits that possess the girl at the end are likely the 3 deadites that were chopped up in the wood chipper.
This was one of the most successful movies of 2023, coming in at less than twenty million for a budget... But it made almost one hundred and fifty million in the box office. They have already guaranteed more movies are coming, and Raimi is working closely with others to create a proper guidebook for future movies and stories. Current estimates by Campbell and Raimi put the next movie coming out in 2025 to 2026.

The idea the writer/director had for this was, in Army of Darkness when Ash has to get the book and speak the words, theres three books, what if the original movies and the series is one book, the remake is the second book and THIS movie is the third book. they are all similar but show small differences, just like an old ancient book that is copied couple times. i love that idea

Never been a big fan of this franchise, and it's difficult to find a horror movie that doesn't suck, expecially in the ladt years. But this is objectively a very good horror movie.
As a 20 yr long fan of the franchise, I fucking loved this movie. Gives me tons of hope for the future and what possible routes they could go down for possible storylines.
I also loved the split focus shots in this movie, where both the foreground and midground are in focus separately. You don't see it too often anymore, but I recall seeing it on TV a lot in the 90s.

As this film stated, there are three books, and each generation of film has its own version of the book, which is why all three we've seen so far have different end-bosses. These three were also the same three books in Army of Darkness on the podium, even though they look different. Ash's copy (ED:OG) is the most powerful and used to summon the book's creators, The Dark Ones. Mia's copy (ED:2013) was created to summon The Abomination after consuming 5 souls. Beth's copy (ED:R) was to create monsters, but its power stuck around even after the evil was destroyed. The director of EDR said there's the possibility of a fourth copy somewhere, so it's a good chance we'll have another film in the future. Hopefully not another 10 years apart, though. Or worse, 20 years apart like we waited between Army of Darkness and Evil Dead.

This shows real human beings with physical disabilities, and was considered exploiting such people.. This film was banned in the UK from 1932 to 1953, as well as some states in the US. Also, I ranted a while back on Patreon regarding the three volumes of the Naturom Demonto in this movie and how Lee Cronin said one is from Sam's films, one from the 2013 "remake" (not a remake), and one from Cronin's own movie. If you remember, I talked a lot of about Fede Alvarez's statements ofbhis 2013 film and how his and Cronin's statements contradict each other as Alvarez has stated that his book is the same as the original book and that his movie takes place in a universe in which Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness never took place. Yeah, I don't really want to rant again, so I'll just leave it at that. The simple facts. Edit 2: I don't think it's the same in all the movies, but in this one, the evil only spreads through blood. Deadite Ellie used the tattoo gun on her head before using it on Bridget, which got some of her blood in Bridget. Killing people also works, too. Edit: Army of Darkness first established the three different books, but it wouldn't be confirmed until the Army of Darkness comics that started in the late 90's. And if you want to get technical, the word 'volume' was used tonrefer t9 the book by Professor Knowby in the very first film as well, and obviously the word implies there are other books.

I have seen a UA-cam Video where somebody intercut the earthquake in this movie with the earthquake that happened in the Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 finale when the big ass demon broke out of the ground. It fit rather well, so in my head canon everything that happened here was once again Ash's fault. 😂

I think people who prefer the original evil dead (horror-focused) like the remakes but if you prefer evil dead 2 or Army of Darkness they're almost unrecognizable. There's no humour, no weird editing, no strong (= memorable) main character, etc. It might as well be any other horror movie.

You know how the record stated there was 3 different Necronomicons. Raimi and the writers decided that means the original Evil Dead trilogy has one. The 2000's remake has the 2nd & this storyline has the 3rd one.
While I enjoyed this movie, unfortunately it gives away most of its best stuff in the trailer. It does, however, have one of the best title reveals in movie history haha.
Its suprised me when I think of it, they kept the "3" theme going. Like the original Trilogy of Evil Dead. The first remake is on 2013. 3 seasons of Ash vs evil dead. This remake in 2023. 3 books. Its like 3 knocks mean evils or something like that. Or 3 scratches. I wish we got some background of who she is (the main lady character in this movie) really is. Why she didnt get infected with deadites? Even with all those wounds. Is she has any connection with Ash, the chosen one? So many questions. I hope they kept this storyline and make it another trilogy.

Ehhh, I think this was one a big step down from the 2013 remake. It had promise with its premise and location (it owes a LOT to Lamberto Bava's 1987's splatter gem 'Demons 2'), but it turned out to be just another grim, joyless gorefest that didn’t know how to have any kind of fun. Since Bruce Campbell has no more involvement in the franchise as an actor and Sam Raimi isn't behind the camera for them anymore, I hope the franchise finally ends with this..

Shaun of the Dead. Horror/Comedy. British zombie movie, one of my all time favorites ❤️ Fright Night "2011 Remake". Great vampire movie with a fantastic cast. I prefer this to the original 🤷♂️ Slither. Alien slugs. James Gunn before he was scooped up by Marvel. Bunch of familiar faces if you are a fan of his. And just one more. Trick r Treat. Halloween anthology. This is my FAVORITE Halloween themed movie! Even over Halloween with Michael Myers. Sam is simply the best ❤️ I'd love for this to be the one you watch for Halloween.. you wouldn't be disappointed 😈

I can hear in my head his awful whiny voice. However in the remake the friend is played by Mclovin, and his part is FANTASTIC ❤️
First off congrats to you both on the birth of your daughter such happy news and second I love this movie and yes it's not as shocking as the remake and whatever but they did use a lot of fake blood. So much in fact that the actress of Beth had trouble moving her arms and legs because of how sticky it was so she walked around set with a watter bottle to spraey herself with so that she could move her arms at least and would be able to keep fiiming the scenes. I think all the actors did an amazing job in this one and having it take place in an appartment instead of a cabin is always interesting. I like all the call backs to the other movies though like the eye part and the dead by dawn of course. They had it as a record player instead of a tape and that also makes it interesting plus they tied this to the third one with that fact that there are three books of the dead not just the one and I liked that idea as well. Glad you liked it.
There is so many Easter eggs in this movie, some are obvious, like the eyeball but my favorite is the voice of the man telling them not to read the book on the recording is Bruce Campbell!!
About time you guys reacted to this one lol. Evil Dead Rise is a solid movie for sure. I didn't really have too much issues with this one other than some cheesy or cringy parts. Other than that, pretty good movie. It has the same serious tone for the most part but does retain some black humor, similar to Evil Dead 2. Also loved the visuals and overall look of the film. What I found most interesting was that the movie was a theme of family. While do we not know too much about Beth and her family, we see that while there is some clear baggage and some resentment there, they all still love each other. We've seen characters that were siblings like with Ash and his sister Cheryl, but we've never seen actual children being in danger before. Ellie was the main highlight as the deadite. She was ominous and creepy as fuck. At times, funny too! I felt so bad for her since she didn't deserved to be possessed but I'm also kind of glad they didn't really repeat the rape scene again. Another thing I liked was the musical score. Reminded me alot of the 2013 film but with some hints of Hellraiser in the mix. Also really loved some of the callbacks too.
I believe the creators have stated that there are 3 books but only 2 have been found. Their plan is to make an evil dead movie every 3-4 years instead of every 10 years.
Im totally fine with the two diffrrent tones of the franchise. The way i see it is that Ash is so badass he see's the deadites as almost a joke while its much more serious and frightning for regular folk. It keeps the franchise fresh and there hasnt been a bad entry yet.

Just thought I'd add a few things. You said she looks like Mila Kunis. To me she looks more like Maggie from Walking Dead. I can't say for certain but I think this movie may have been inspired at least in part by Lucio Fulchi's Demons 2 movie. It is about demons taking over an apartment complex. Any would can cause infection especially a wound caused by another infected. One of the girls in the original ED was infected by being stabbed in the ankle with a pencil. It may also have something to do with how much willpower ie how "strong" the person is.

Its suprised me when I think of it, they kept the "3" theme going. Like the original Trilogy of Evil Dead. The first remake is on 2013. 3 seasons of Ash vs evil dead. This remake in 2023. 3 books.
Its like 3 knocks mean evils or something like that. Or 3 scratches.
I wish we got some background of who she is (the main lady character in this movie) really is. Why she didnt get infected with deadites? Even with all those wounds. Is she has any connection with Ash, the chosen one? So many questions. I hope they kept this storyline and make it another trilogy.

you GOTTA do "BRAINDEAD" aka "DEAD ALIVE" in the US. its the BLOODIEST movie ever, the gore is insane and its also damn funny during all of it! its labelled a SPLATSTICK. from SPLATTER and SLAPSTICK. and on top of all that, its from none other than PETER JACKSON of "Lord of the Rings" fame.
And to make it all super easy: an uncut and remastered version of the movie is free on YT
with what you said at the end of this video, trying to mix it up with different times of horror, funny horror, gory stuff... BRAINDEAD would be PERFECT to wrap up Shocktober. goriest ever, funny as hell in all the carnage and made in 1992 in New Zealand by a then basically unknown director who was destined to make Oscar History and become one of the most well known directors ever.
Ehhh, I think this was one a big step down from the 2013 remake. It had promise with its premise and location (it owes a LOT to Lamberto Bava's 1987's splatter gem 'Demons 2'), but it turned out to be just another grim, joyless gorefest that didn’t know how to have any kind of fun.
Since Bruce Campbell has no more involvement in the franchise as an actor and Sam Raimi isn't behind the camera for them anymore, I hope the franchise finally ends with this..

Not gonna lie, I miss the camp from the OG sequels but this and the last one are creepy as hell so well done.

I love me a cheesy horror movie, but I just can't get into the acting in the original.. and the "best friend" is so so annoying in the original.. I can hear in my head his awful whiny voice.
However in the remake the friend is played by Mclovin, and his part is FANTASTIC ❤️
I'm a huge fan of the originals, watched them as a teenager back in the early 90s, and I have to say they nailed it with this one!
First off congrats to you both on the birth of your daughter such happy news and second I love this movie and yes it's not as shocking as the remake and whatever but they did use a lot of fake blood. So much in fact that the actress of Beth had trouble moving her arms and legs because of how sticky it was so she walked around set with a watter bottle to spraey herself with so that she could move her arms at least and would be able to keep fiiming the scenes. I think all the actors did an amazing job in this one and having it take place in an appartment instead of a cabin is always interesting. I like all the call backs to the other movies though like the eye part and the dead by dawn of course. They had it as a record player instead of a tape and that also makes it interesting plus they tied this to the third one with that fact that there are three books of the dead not just the one and I liked that idea as well. Glad you liked it.
Not as good as Evil Dead 2013, but a decent movie in its own right. Always and forever a fan of the original myself

About time you guys reacted to this one lol. Evil Dead Rise is a solid movie for sure.
I didn't really have too much issues with this one other than some cheesy or cringy parts.
Other than that, pretty good movie. It has the same serious tone for the most part but does retain some black humor, similar to Evil Dead 2. Also loved the visuals and overall look of the film. What I found most interesting was that the movie was a theme of family. While do we not know too much about Beth and her family, we see that while there is some clear baggage and some resentment there, they all still love each other. We've seen characters that were siblings like with Ash and his sister Cheryl, but we've never seen actual children being in danger before. Ellie was the main highlight as the deadite. She was ominous and creepy as fuck. At times, funny too! I felt so bad for her since she didn't deserved to be possessed but I'm also kind of glad they didn't really repeat the rape scene again. Another thing I liked was the musical score. Reminded me alot of the 2013 film but with some hints of Hellraiser in the mix. Also really loved some of the callbacks too.
I believe the creators have stated that there are 3 books but only 2 have been found. Their plan is to make an evil dead movie every 3-4 years instead of every 10 years.

I love all of the Evil Dead movies form the 1981 original to Evil Dead Rise, they were awesome in every way.
Im totally fine with the two diffrrent tones of the franchise. The way i see it is that Ash is so badass he see's the deadites as almost a joke while its much more serious and frightning for regular folk.
It keeps the franchise fresh and there hasnt been a bad entry yet.
EDRise ties in a lot with motherhood.

I can't say for certain but I think this movie may have been inspired at least in part by Lucio Fulchi's Demons 2 movie. It is about demons taking over an apartment complex.
Any would can cause infection especially a wound caused by another infected. One of the girls in the original ED was infected by being stabbed in the ankle with a pencil. It may also have something to do with how much willpower ie how "strong" the person is.
