the reason for the fit difference is that the thickness of the lens and the wing skin in combination is of course making the radius different on the outside verses the inside..therefore the radius of the bend must be changed to take this into account...I love the process of building most anything...I used to build model airplanes and fly them including some scratch built ones of my own design...I was always going to build a full scale plane but what with a family to support and other factors..It just didn't happen...now I'm in my seventies...and I'm not likely to get that done in this lifetime...so I'll just enjoy watching folks like you do it...thanks for the video
That’s really funny! “Would I do it again? Absolutely not!” I was expecting absolutely, Yes! I placed one in each wing of the Sonex. Went with Duckworks. Wig-Wag feature was cool, not LED (that was many years ago). Wasn’t too bad of an install.
Mark did you use any type of sealant around the lens to prevent water intrusion? I know Five years ago so memory test also! LOL I really do like this install even though I know it took you an enormous amount of time.
Curious; Would it have been possible to have a rivet on the leading edge, trough the cover, and into a curved piece of aluminum on the back side of the cover, similar to what you did for the top and bottom? Or is it a no-no to have rivets on the apex of the leading edge?
Any reason you didn't put some of the yellow vinyl on the inside of the wing to make the whole compartment for the light yellow? Are you building this from a kit, or only plans?
Hey, great vids and love watching the build progress along. I do however, find it annoying as hell that the parts you buy from Zenith are second rate. I build hydro electric power plants and if I order a recognition light (or equivilent) from my suppliers and it does not fit the wing that they made, I would send it back. The note that accompanied the return item would read, if you are unwilling or unable to make a part that fits the wing you built and I bought, please provide a full refund plus 20% for wasting my valuablel time.

I know nothing about building a plane. But wouldn’t be a good idea to put some sealant around that lens?
You need a fire extinguisher for the phantom fire under that table!!!!

Isn't there some sort of compound for marine applications that can seal the lens to the wing and make it watertight?

Great installation
Hi Can I have some help with the Zenith plans?
