  • This hike was done the last weekend in June 2024. Rainy and cool, we will miss these weather conditions come July and August! 10.5 miles round trip and 1900 feet of elevation gain. We started at the historic Longmire area of the park after entering with a timed entry permit. Timed entry permits can be obtained online at 7pm the previous day for a price of $2. Crossing the Nisqually River was fun, also saw a second water fall that I did not know about called Carter Falls :) Once at the comfort station by Nadara Falls we ate lunch and decided it was to cold to go on, we had hoped to make it up to Reflection Lake. A way better hike than I had expected, great way to knock off a portion of the Wonderland Trail.

The falls are breathtaking, thanks for taking us! That first bridge, yikes! But I'm a wimp.

You are welcome Karen :) I miss the cool weather, in the 80s and 90s now.

We did this hike but we started at the Carter Falls parking lot to Narada Falls. It was in late July of 2022 so it was dry and the river was not as harsh or scary to cross via the bridge. Beautiful and easy hike.

Wow, I wondered how low the river got, could you cross without the bridge?

It was cold at the top waterfall where we turned around, my hand started going numb in the mist when holding the camera. We are hot now and I miss the cool weather! I see you are very hot and humid back there.

They should set up a life jacket system at the river closing. Put it on walk across take it off.

That is a good idea, like at the beach how they have free life jackets to use.

Really like your content. I'm from the PNW and used to do some of these hikes. I lived in Bonneylake and would normally go to Mt. Rainier National. Ever thought of doing some of the climbs around North Bend, like Mt. Si or Rattlesnake Ridge? A bunch of wonderful trails around Forks and Olympic National Forest.

Yep, I have done Mt Si and Rattlesnake Ridge, both were a lot of fun. If you search in my channel they should come up :) We did Lake Ozette also last spring, that is for sure one of the top 10 hikes in the state. I am working on the Olympic Hikes, a lot are just not easy to get to. Hopefully you live somewhere fun now!

@@AmericanOutbackAmazing Calgary, so the Banff and Lake Louise areas are close, not to mention the badlands featured in movies like Ghostbusters Afterlife and Lost in Space. The Last of Us also showcases from beautiful natural scenes. The Canadian Rockies are so raw and dangerous looking!

Nice area. I went on my 2nd nature hike last week end. It was beautiful and close to my home. I see you are 50 subscribers to 3000. Planning anything special? Maybe go LIVE!

Nice, did you see any more deer? Glad you are getting out now, it looks like you have a lot to see up there. Can you go to Niagra Falls, that would be fun to see if you got some video. No plans for 3000 yet, I wish live video was in 1080p or 4k, with 720 you can't really move at all or it affects the quality.

23:00 so you're telling me there's another parking lot less than a mile away? So the walk is pretty short from the third parking lot to the lake?

Yep, from Nadara Falls to Reflection Lake it is only around 1.5 miles. We did it in a future hike :)
