This is our favorite ride. We have traveled twice from PEI to ride the Petit Train and are hoping to come back this year too!
Every season, I do this ride in two days,riding from Mt. Laurier to Montreal.. stopping at Tremblant.

Our pleasure. It was awesome. It can be done as fast or as slow as you like. Definitely worth doing. It’s a good idea to bring snacks so you don’t always have to rely on the village restaurants. For the most part, we were able to find restaurants and grocery stores.
Now that you are warmed up.....bring your bikes to Pittsburgh, PA, where you will start the 150 mile (242 Km) Great Alleghany Passage Trail (GAP) to Cumberland, MD. The GAP is a rail trail like the one you were on. In Cumberland, the GAP meets the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath where you will continue on 185 miles (298 Km) to Washington D.C. The towpath is a dirt trail that the mules walked while pulling the canal boats. The whole trip is 335 miles (540 Km). It is uphill from Pittsburgh to the Eastern Continental Divide, but as a ex-railbed the grades are reasonable. Then downhill the rest of the way. The entire C&O Canal is a National Park and has Hiker-Biker camps with potable water every 5-10 miles. The GAP runs through a lot of private land and camping takes a little more planning.

@@DoriMena Busy, varies by Sections and the time of year. Naturally, The areas around Pittsburgh, Cumberland, and D.C. are busier, but most of both trails are very rural. The area around Harper's Ferry, West Virginia on the C&O is busy during the summer as the trail is right next to the Potomac River and that area is big for tubing, kayaking, and canoeing.
Between Cumberland and Frostburg, MD, the GAP parallels the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad that offers excursions where you ride the rails with your bikes into Frostburg and then ride the GAP back down to Cumberland on your bikes.
A lot of the C&O runs through areas where the American Civil War was fought , lots of historic sites nearby.

@@DoriMena not really sure, would probably depend on area. I do believe there are trains available D.C. to Pittsburgh, if you were going end-to-end. There are websites available for both trails and also lots of UA-cam content on both.

1:25 correction Saint-Jérome is a city in Québec. Laval is another city. Not Saint-Jérome in Laval.
