Yes to the teal sewing machine, but reservations about the wallpaper. Where will it go ? It demands so much attention - is a bit too much for a chateau, I think. The paper is just big and bold, very attention getting, but there seems to be no period match with the chateau. Less busy paper I think would suit the chateau better - a little bit calmer. Enjoyed Steve's explanation of his approach to watercolors. He's very talented. Sara is as well, all that figuring, ruffle foot and great results. Hooray on the climbing ! I have one with sort of "handrails". One has something to hold onto on the climb and descent. Tall ceilings are daunting.
Morning Steve & Sara, that was the ideal moment to challenge your uncertainty regarding heights. I am older, so I don't really do heights anymore, I feel I am not steady enough, up to a certain height yes, but no climbing on chairs, that is a no-no for sure!! i have a very solid two step ladder and I make sure I have side support to steady myself, at 76 I really do not wish to cope with an injury. We all realise what we are capable of and I think we should go with that challenge. The lamp is so beautiful, so much detail and character, I am sure you will have many days of enjoyment. The wall paper is beautiful. It is not too compact, so for a large area it will work perfectly. It looks very smart, I love the different colours on the paper so you have much choice to combine different items, I love it. I had to laugh at your comment regarding the sewing machine, she looked as she has done much work. Steve your drawings are very beautiful, you have such talent. I think you should also draw and place them up for sales. I said so long ago, how about doing a calendar, if printed on quality paper we can also frame them to use in small to medium frames and remind us in our homes of you and Sara at the chateaux. The market looked so nice, a good time to shop for some Christmas gifts for yourselves as well as friends. This was a most pleasant video as always. Many blessings, kind regards.
Thank you for this lovely vlog this week. A menu of finds and purchases and weekly routines, sturdy ladders ,beautiful blown glass vases and center piece lighting fixtures to compose a future room. Then Magic happens . Steve introduces us into his process of how he sketches and produces his art pieces . In a language we can understand he shows us the tools and materials he uses . Then we see through his eye what he sees as he reveals the image on paper and what the materials and tools are doing. Creativity is revealed before our eye. Many times we look but do not see, Until some one like Steve mentors and some how that box of paints and colours pencils stored away on a shelf in the garage may hold the key to that talent or interest we once thought we had but did not nurture. More of this please. Steve and Sara. We close with beautiful scenes of land and sky in their dance of nourshing our spirit to see the Beauty at every turn
I am so in awe of Stephen's talent, it's like watching magic. The light fixture is beautiful and I applaud Sara for getting up on the ladder to conquer her fears. Cheers to you!
I looked up Karst and discovered that they originated in Sydney Australia!! Go Aussies!! I found it fascinating the idea of paper made with stone. The wallpaper is simply gorgeous! Reminds me of something that Stephanie might have, but with less fuss and less emphasis on the medieval. I think the room will look absolutely brilliant with it.
Thank you so much dear Steve and Sara for showing us all around those couple of lovely villages with their charming markets. Those coupld of beautiful green vases are wonderful. I also loved the large light you have put up in the room with the mauve/lilac ceiling. How blessed you are to have such a handy and competent electrician. Thanks Steve for showing your technique. Have you thought of scanning the artworks and then selling them as numbered and signed prints too? I'm sure they would come up well on high quality paper. Always love your show. Love your little doggy too. Best to you both, David
Weld one Sara on climbing that ladder. Love the chandelier and a lovely gift. Steve it was very nice watching you draw and explain your process. Your “Bob Ross” reference was sweet and heartwarming. Loved listening to him and putting a happy little tree somewhere always was fun. My little granddaughter who is now 6 loves to watch his old shows. She loves art as I do. Enjoy your videos. ❤❤
That wallpaper is gorgeous and I would have wanted that teal sewing machine 🤣🤣🤣 Steve love your paintings and it was so kind to share your process. Bravo for conquering the ladder Sarah 🎉🎉🎉Thanks for sharing 😍😘
The vases are gorgeous Steve... one of my fav colours! OH that machine Sarah...what a gem! I hear you re: the ladder Sarah...I'm a mess after I go up 4 steps, so good for you! You are such a wonderful artist Steve.
Thank you Steve for sharing your process and materials so generously. Your drawings are all lovely! I can't think of a better setting to paint and draw than in your beautiful area! And a big thumbs up and applause to Sara for the great ladder milestone!
The wallpaper is fabulous!!!! Go for it! Steve you are a very talented artist! You showed great restraint when you saw that old sewing machine, Sarah. Well done!
That paper is stunning and its scale fits the scale of your dining room. So happy to see the red-violet exit stage right. The travel brush set is fabulous not just for the beauty of the wood but also how the sleeve protects the hair.
Steve you are so blessed, you are talented ❤️ 👏. Love your technique, you make it look simple but it isn't. It's you. You are just gifted. I'm almost 70 years old, I wish I lived next door so I could take lessons. 😫 But that won't happen in this life time. That's ok, God gave me talent elsewhere. Love to see your vlogs. Your better half and you are great. Thanks 😊 God bless you both. 💖
Hi Sara and Steve, Once again a great presentation of the supplies and techniques that Steve uses in his drawing. The new fixture in the guest room is beautiful and it will definitely look wonderful with the floral and bird wallpaper down the road. It is very similar to the wallpaper that we are considering when we convert our master bedroom to a sitting room. Only time will tell, the best to you both on your adventure. Mark
Well done Sarah! I got over my fear - to a degree, I'm still uneasy - through necessity for a job; the more you do it the more it will get slightly easier. I love your technique Steve.
Amazing and much appreciated tutorial, Steve!! So enjoyed it, as much as I did the last one!! Please do this again soon!! Sara, the wallpaper is exquisite, and will compliment the chandelier!! Glad you now have a sturdy and safe ladder for the mezzanine and other lofty jobs!!! Thanks for another very interesting 🎥!!! USA
First, I'd like to compliment Sarah on the great chair. I don' t remember seeing you buying the fabric, but hey - gotta love a monkey sitting atop a ot air balloon! Next, I thank Steve for his generous discussion of his choice of art supplies, and demonstration of his MO. I've been wondering about a gift for my son. It occurs to me I could get him some of these art supplies, along with the link starting @ 11:00. Your blog is great!
The new light is gorgeous and I love the choice of wallpaper! Perfect match! Thank you for the drawing lesson, Steve… And I loved how your puppy dog was quite content to sit between your 2 feet… So cute
Love the wallpaper design and it would go so well with the beautiful light! My only concern is that I think the scale might be a bit too large / it looks a bit too modern perhaps? Maybe Steve could resize it to fit the room better? ❤
Wow..the sky is the limit with the new ladder! And another thing you can share...well done.....the lamp is beautiful..especially lit and hanging. So good of you Steve to share your artistic talent. It's very encouraging to those of us who would love to create that way..... but wait!! I was sure you had made the wallpaper also..😉.beautiful colour and pattern
The wallpaper was exactly what I imagined as you spoke of redoing the small dining room, Sara. I initially considered a smaller printing of the pattern but then realised that your room was a larger version of a normal dining room. To add 3 same~colour items for decoration you might look at coral? Although the new green vases would be stunning in this room too. Thank you for the Art tutorial, Steve. Really enjoyed that, and now don’t feel so bad about my strange reluctance to put brush to watercolour paper! Regards, Susan at Hobart.
Wallpaper is beautiful, great choice! The light looks beautiful and looking forward to the time when you can redecorate the room around it! Thanks for telling us about your sketch tools and techniques Steve. And well done Sara on braving the ladder too.
Kudos to Sara for making up to the fifth rung, we were all cheering you on! Steve, you must have an incredibly steady hand because your straight lines are soooo straight, I've got a little bit of straight line envy!! Love your art, really awesome and thanks for sharing some great tips.
Bravo, Sara. That was brave! Love your market. The vases are striking. The lamp gorgeous. Wallpaper is a big "yes." And thank you, Steve, for the tutorial!
Such good vases! And they will present flowers so well. Congratulations! And bravery on the ladder.... Great light. And the wallpaper is really good. THanks for the lesson, Steve.
I love your drawing technique Steve. Thanks for showing us. The light is beautiful and that paper and chair together will be awesome. I have a horrible fear of heights too. I use to do roofing years ago believe it or not. I can't do that anymore. My neighbour keeps my gutters clean which I am so grateful for. He can climb as good as monkey at 60yo.
The light is gorgeous, the upholstered chair i am now a bit obsessed with the material. The wallpaper has humming birds like the chair ... you both have a great eye .🌻🌾🍁🍂🦌⛵️🎨🧡
Steve you are so talented! And Sarah you are beautiful, and talented! Thank you both for sharing your adventures. I love the wallpaper and the fabric on that chair you showed would match your chandelier perfectly. The hot air balloon looks like the glass dome.
Love the vases, love the ceiling lamp, beautiful, love the wall paper very beautiful and alive ..loved watching Steve creating his artwork...sending love from 🇨🇦💕
I loved the wallpaper! I hope you find that it matches perfectly! I also commend you on overcoming your fear of ladders and climbing 5 steps! 🎉🙌 Way to go!! And the lamp/chandelier is gorgeous. You are doing so well, and kudos on bringing in local trades to help where needed. It takes a village to restore a chateau 😊
Congratulations on the ladder triumph! I had the same problem for most of my life - in my case I’d almost fallen into the Grand Canyon and barely caught a fence rung. But I find that once I get used to a particular ladder in a specific location (ie in my house, not just in a specific spot), the more often I use it to do something, the more comfortable I get. ♥️ I’m so glad this sturdy ladder is helping you. 🎉 That lamp is amazing! ♥️♥️♥️ Thanks so much for sharing the paper, etc. you’re using. I’m definitely going to give that a try!
Thanks for including the names of the towns as text. I like to look up where you are vlogging from so the print version of the town names is very helpful. Well done Sara for climbing the ladder!! 🇨🇦
Love the wallpaper! You were extremely brave to go up the ladder Sarah, especially if you saw your father fall!!! Steve, Thank you for the explanation of how you make your watercolor sketches, they are gorgeous!! I wanted to know exactly what you so graciously described, pens, markers, brushes, papers and process-thank you very much!
My son grew up watching Bob Ross. He is now also a graphic artist and art director. Love watching you draw and I love the wallpaper. Be careful on the new ladder.
Hi from Brockville, ON. It is obviously much warmer there than here. Today it finally cooled down after high temp of 24 degrees on Saturday!!! I love how your dog just stayed with you while you were doing your sketch. A loyal pooch. I concur on the wallpaper, I think it will look lovely in that room. Thanks for the watercolour tutorial.
That wallpaper is stunning!!! It really does go beautifully with that gorgeous lamp!! Congratulations on getting to the fifth rung, Sara-no small feat I'm sure.
Well done Sarah for climbing five step's on the ladder you know what they say one step at a time 👏,Steve your sketches are great and the colour's are great. Great video x💕🌼😊
Steve's watercolor sketches are delightful and it was interesting to see how he creates. The wallpaper goes well with the birds but I'd be tempted to chose something less dominant so the table decor and diners are the focal point and the walls recede to become a cocoon. Playing with the colors in the lamp but with a more subdued pattern will give you more room to play with china and table settings to change the mood and theme. It depends on where you want the focus of the room to be - walls or table. The large scale also reads as quite modern to me.
So enjoy your videos. Such a nice mix of your town and shopping, projects, and art work. Fascinating how you bring your art alive. I am with you on the ladder too. I don’t like heights and struggle to go beyond 2 steps. New ladder looks very safe and will definitely help with decorating. Have a great week!
Really awesome video today, guys! Sarah, I'm so proud of you for getting up on that ladder. I was totally cheering for you. I also have a hard time with ladders. You go girl! The chandelier is absolutely beautiful and the wallpaper you showed would be so perfect. I really love the blue/turquoise color in the paper. I hope you find a way to add more of that into the room. It's so pretty! 😍 Really enjoyed your art demonstration, Steven. I'm so glad you are working to create art for your supporters to buy. I would also love to see the two of you collaborate on creating some beautiful fabrics together as well. You both have such wonderful taste in design. I hope you are getting inquiries about your art event in May. I was wondering if you've made any plans for hosting a ball with the art nouveau theme? Your beautiful chateau would be an awesome setting for such a shindig. I look forward to seeing your next post. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead with your guests. 💗💗💗
Yes you both are incredibly talented! I have watched all your videos and even when you both were coming to Stephanie's before you got your place. It's great watching everyone, Doing It Ourselves, Chateau Love, Manor n Maker and Chateau Lalande. Thank you for sharing your life! blessings Barb from Canada!
I adore both of you! Sarah, you LOVE the wall paper choice! 😍 Steve, I truly appreciate your talent and the stunning pieces of art you create & share on your Vlog. I am eternally optimistic that I will visit y’all in the future! 🙏🏻☺️
Steve that was fascinating, watching you draw. I admire anybody who would do that -- oh I know you could edit it out if you didn't get a good drawing the first time but I am sure you didn't! I immediately googled karst stone paper and ordered a sketchbook for myself and one for my friend -- they should sponsor you now, right? The lamp is lovely -- and Sara showed us that sewing machine in the market and then, not another word. Was she tempted?
We’ll done with the ladder fear Sara! Also adore the wallpaper - OHMYGOSH it’s beautiful 😍. Steve’s art is amazing, so very clever. You’re both amazing & making such progress. The new chandelier looks amazing 🤩. Look forward to your vlogs. Many good wishes from New Zealand 🇳🇿
I do think that Sarah's facing her ladder fear really deserves a beautiful teal colored sewing machine 😁
And YES to the wallpaper. It's stunning!

I adore both of you! Sarah, you LOVE the wall paper choice! 😍 Steve, I truly appreciate your talent and the stunning pieces of art you create & share on your Vlog. I am eternally optimistic that I will visit y’all in the future! 🙏🏻☺️
Love the hanging light and the wall paper matches perfectly.
Well done on climbing the ladder 😊👏👏👏
Steve that was fascinating, watching you draw. I admire anybody who would do that -- oh I know you could edit it out if you didn't get a good drawing the first time but I am sure you didn't! I immediately googled karst stone paper and ordered a sketchbook for myself and one for my friend -- they should sponsor you now, right? The lamp is lovely -- and Sara showed us that sewing machine in the market and then, not another word. Was she tempted?
Enjoyed watching you draw plus talking about art and products.I love Art! Thank you
